After Suyeon's first fencing class, Jisoo took her out for a walk in the labyrinth. "You said you wanted to talk to me about the things that Irene told you?" Jisoo said once they were a couple of turns into the labyrinth. Suyeon nodded. "Yes," she said. "I was - Irene was talking to me about the things you were teaching me and the things I had yet to learn." She was quiet for a minute, nervously fidgeting with her hands. Jisoo waited patiently, knowing that if she waited for Suyeon to put together what she wanted to say by herself, that would be more useful than if Jisoo prompted her, because Jisoo's prompting might shift her thoughts in a particular way without either of them realizing it. "Irene and I had talked when she came to your house," Suyeon said, "and then we talked some more at the inn. The things she said really made sense, but they also made me think a lot because they conflicted with a lot of things I had been taught as I was growing up." Suyeon stopped and looked at Jisoo, then started walking again. "I'd been brought up to believe I should work as much as I could to help support my parents until I got married and then once I got married, I was to keep house for my husband and raise our children. Most likely I would have ended up marrying a sailor. If I was very fortunate, I'd have ended up with a shopkeeper or a master craftsman. But whoever I married, I was to obey him, the same way I had obeyed my father. What I thought and what I wanted were never really factors." By this time they had reached the center of the labyrinth. Suyeon sat down on one of the benches there, and Jisoo sat next to her. "And then I met you," Suyeon said. "You're so different from the women I grew up around. I had been taught to read, but that was strictly so that I would be more useful to employers and eventually to my future husband. Until I saw you doing it, it never occurred to me that someone -particularly a woman - could read for pleasure. So I started watching you, and, well, you know what happened. You started training me, and not just in how to be an agent. You trained me in a different way to be a woman. I discovered that being with a woman - in bed with a woman, I mean - excited me much more than the idea of someday being with a man ever had. And I-" Suyeon suddenly fell silent again, apparently unsure of how to say what she wanted to say next. Jisoo waited, and eventually Suyeon continued. "I fell in love with you. But I knew that you loved Jennie. But then I saw how you were with Joy, and I was so confused. And then you were with me and I was even more confused. And you tried to explain things to me - and you really did a good job; I'm not trying to criticize your teaching - but I wasn't ready to hear it yet, and I had no way to be certain that you were right. So when I talked to Irene. . ." Suyeon trailed off. "She confirmed things for you," Jisoo said, knowing that Irene had played the same role in teaching her and Jennie." Suyeon nodded. "When Irene told me the same things that you had told me - some of them in exactly the same words! - I really had no choice but to believe her. And it really turned my head around! I was turning these ideas over and over in my head all the way up here on the coach, and I figured a lot of things out, I think." Jisoo glanced at her watch. "We'd better head back, if we're going to be in time for lunch. But we can talk as we walk. Tell me: What did you figure out?" "I figured out what I want," Suyeon said as they walked out of the labyrinth. "I want to be to you like Miss Joy or Miss Irene. I know that no one else could be like Miss Jennie to you, and I don't want that anyway. I don't think I want to be like Miss Jennie to anybody, but I think I'd be happy being like Miss Joy to more than one person." She paused for a moment. "Does that make me a bad person?" "Not at all," Jisoo said, taking Suyeon's hand and encouraging her to walk a little faster. "Knowing what you want is a powerful thing. And so long as what you want isn't hurting anybody, and you're being honest with the people you're with, there's nothing wrong with it. Where you run into problems is if you lead someone to believe that they're like Miss Jennie - or, ever worse, like Captain Lee to you, when they're actually like Miss Joy. Then you're deceiving them, and that's no basis for a relationship." "But," Suyeon said, haltingly, the tone of her voice showing she wasn't quite as certain about what she thought as she thought she was, "what about Captain Lee? He thought he was like Captain Lee to you, but he wasn't even as much as being like Miss Joy." "That's very different," Jisoo said. "Captain Lee was part of a mission, so he never saw the real me. He saw Jisoo, Captain Lee's wife, but never knew - or even to knew of the existence of - Jisoo, trained agent. He was Captain Lee to Jisoo, Captain Lee's wife, and it was important for the suc

Chapter 2: Haha! I am a late comer but Madame Park feeds them very well except Rosé with limited desserts. By the way, I wonder how much the tuition is for her secret society schooling. Their parents must be paying a pretty penny.
