“Hello, may I speak to Mrs. Sang?”

“Speaking.” A woman answered

“My name is Oh Sehun and I’m your son’s teacher.” Sehun explained

“Yes, is Minyoo doing okay in school?”

“Academically he’s doing well, but emotionally, not so much.”

Mrs. Sang sighed, “I know, but I’m not sure what to do. I’ve tried introducing him to my friends’ children, encouraging him to make more friends at school, even trying to get him into sports but he won’t move on.”

Sehun took a deep breath, “Sometimes the best thing you can do is not force him to move on.”

“But his life will go on, Choy’s life has gone on. My son is only six years old, he can’t let a little thing like this cripple him. I mean, childhood friends move away all the time, but as adults we move, don’t we?”

Sehun swallowed.

“Do you not agree Mr. Oh?”

“We try to move on. But sometimes there are voids that cannot be filled. Minyoo will get better with time, and make new friends. But Choy has left a void that may never be filled.”

“But Mr. Oh, grieving will not fill that void now will it?”

“Let him grieve Mrs. Sang. It may not solve his problems, but he needs time to heal. Don’t try to replace Choy, because he may never be replaced.”

“Don’t you think you’re being a little bit dramatic Mr. Oh? Do remember that these are elementary school children after all, in 10 years they probably won’t even remember this incident.”

“It depends Mrs. Sang,” Sehun said, “Some things you can’t forget no matter how long it’s been, or how hard you try.”
