HEALING YOU“Your housemate seems really friendly, and kind too. What’s his name?”
“He’s a Chinese. Zhang Yixing.”
Jongdae stares off to the night sky as he keeps repeating Yixing’s name. I wonder why he’s chanting the name. And I wonder why he would even ask. But knowing Jongdae, he probably would anyways, if not today maybe tomorrow, or a week after. He’s just that friendly with other people, and he gets along with people easily.
“He’s quite handsome you know.”
I almost spit the beer on his face when Jongdae made that remark. I mean, Zhang Yixing? Friendly? Yes. Handsome? Well maybe, a little bit. But hearing it from Jongdae just sounds weird. Not that I have anything against other people’s uality.
“It’s true. He’s handsome. Are you jealous?”
“I’m totally not jealous. Psh. Why would I?” I say to him. “He has a lot of secret behind that innocent face.”
“Secret? Why, tell me then. You know I’m good at keeping secrets.”
Initially I don’t want to tell him about this. But Jongdae keeps nudging my arm with his elbow and squishing our faces together so I ended up telling him anyway.
“He’s not entirely human.” I really don’t know where to start. “I mean he is, human. But… he’s a unicorn. He can heal people. And I’m not even joking. That thing is real. We coexist with the creatures.”
Jongdae falls to a silent, a quite eerie one.
“Oh.” His only reaction.
“I can trust you with this, right? You won’t tell anyone?”
“Ofcourse. Trust me, Baek. I can keep this only between us.”
