Chapter 6
Clear My Heart, Set Me Free[Dara's POV]
When I reached the classroom, I saw Jiyong sitting down, resting his head on the table with his hood up. On his right was an empty seat, next to the window. I grinned, happy that he remembered I liked window seats enough to care about where to sit, my mood instantly lifted.
Bom looked at me grinning, not at all apologetic. "I'm sorry about the tryouts, Dara. But I hope you'll go with me still! By the way, the tryouts are on the-"
"Not another word." I held up my forefinger to interrupt her, then plopped down on my seat next to Jiyong. I heard Bom huff in amusement as she sat with TOP, having a smooth conversation with him in no time. That's my girl. Not far away, CL and Seungri were chatting comfortably, CL leaning her head against Seungri's shoulder as she played with his hand. A rare sight.
And me?
I was sitting next to Jiyong who seemed to have turned into a statue. He rested his head on his hands facing me, but kept silent with his eyes close. I was left alone to stare out of the window and admire the trees that seemed startlingly close. Maybe I should draw. Pulling out my sketchbook and a pencil, I started sketching the trees and their leaves.
Finally, our homeroom teacher, Mrs Lee, who was also Seungri's mum, walked into the classroom. She glanced at Seungri with motherly affection, watching her son interact with his girlfriend. "Good morning, Mrs Lee." The whole class chorused when we stand up. Jiyong remained sleeping on his desk, and I didn't have the heart to wake him up.
When lessons officially start, Mrs Lee eyed Jiyong, about to call him awake when I shot her a pleading look. Sighing, she let it go. Jiyong continues to sleep, his face relaxed and free of tension. He looked so peaceful, free, and even angelic. Opening my sketch book once again, I began to draw Jiyong while he slept, careful not to wake him up.
His eyes. His nose. His lips. How he looks so much at peace. Then his hood which covered most of his beautiful soft hair, only showing his bangs that fell messily over his face. I resisted the urge to lean over and brush it out of his eyes, fingers twitching as I gripped the pencil. Pathetic, my subconscious snarls and shakes her head. Go away. I shot back.
As I finished the final , my pencil moving across the paper swiftly in smooth curves, I wrote my name carefully in small print at the bottom right hand corner and inserted Jiyong's full name at the top in large, loopy writing.
Perfect.
Right on time, the school bell rang. I jumped and slammed the book shut. Jiyong blinked his eyes open blearily. "Jiyong, it's recess. Do you wanna sit with m-"
Bom yanked me by arm and pulled me away. "Jiyong! Yah, Park Bom! What are you doing?" Jiyong watched us with blank, dark orbs. For some reason, my mind conjured up an image of a lost puppy. "Jiyong!" I called to him but he made no move to come to me.
When Bom released my once again sore arm, I glared at her with all my might. "What's your problem?"
"Stop hanging out with him Dara, he's not the same anymore."
"That's for you to say and me to know. You don't know him well enough, okay?"
She backed off with her hands in the air, rolling her eyes. "I was just warning you." I pressed my lips into a thin line.
"Whatever."

I sat through recess with a stony face, fuming silently and thought about Jiyong sitting in class alone with his hood up moodily. Just thinking about it made my heart squeeze painfully. "Dara, what's wrong?" Chaerin asked me. Before I could answer, Bom beat me to it.
"She wanted to bring Jiyong along for break." Was her dry reply. It was met with stony silence. "What?" I defended, "He hasn't changed! It's just you people who think he has. He's still the same inside!"
"Inside. Dara, you never know what a person is thinking inside. It may not always be what you think." Chaerin said carefully, gauging my response.
"I know who Jiyong is. You don't have to tell me! You were all friends with just a few years ago, why the sudden change? Because he got all moody? If we just gave him some time, I'm sure he'll change!" I slammed my palms on the table and pushed myself up. "If I'm Ji's only friend right now, I think I should be next to him, giving him support. See you next time."
"Dara!"
Ignoring them, I walked off to the classroom to find Jiyong.
