~My POV~

It’s been 2 months since I’ve moved in and it’s been amazing. I’ve been going to the dance studio everyday, I made up my exam and got an A, and I have a family that treats me as their own. Everything is going great. Then,  Mai Lee, Taehyun, and I just got home from school.

“Is anyone home?!” Mai Lee called.

“Shh Mai, your grandmother could be sleeping.” Taehyun stated.

“Pfftt you’re funny. She’s in the kitchen watching ‘High Kick Through the Roof’ or some other Korean drama.” Mai Lee objected.

“You don’t know that.” Taehyun argued. Mai Lee went to the kitchen and gestured her hand towards her grandmother. “Told you.” She bragged as she hit him on the arm.

“Ughh, you guys are so violent. Jeez.” Taehyun commented rubbing his arm

“I hope by you guys you mean Mai Lee & her imaginary friend.” I joked.

“No, you hit me too!” Taehyun whined.

“Boo hoo, cry me a river.” Mai Lee teased. I just laughed.

“Wow, so mean!” He replied.

“Annyeonghaseyo? Anyone home?”

“Yeah in here mom.” Mai answered.

“I have great news!”

“What’s that Aunty Sunhee?” I asked her.

“Mai Lee, I did what you asked.” She replied with a huge smile.

“What did you do?” Taehyun asked in curiously.

“We’re going to Seoul!” She cried happily. “We leave in 3 days!”

“Wait, why?” I questioned in confusion.

“Mai Lee told me about your audition. And that’s coming up soon right?”

“Well yeah, but that’s still a week from today.”

“Sunny, you’re supposed to be excited. You can see your family now.” Mai Lee exclaimed. “What’s the matter?” She asked me.

“I am excited. It’s just  . . . excuse me.” I excused myself, grabbed my mp3, and went onto the balcony.

“What happened?” Sunhee asked. Everyone looked at each other confused. Awkward . . .

“Let’s go see.” Mai Lee advised as she tugged Taehyun’s sleeve indicating to follow her.

“I hope she’s okay.” Sunhee thought.

I heard a knock on the balcony door and I just sat there looking at the amazing view listening to ‘I’m Sorry’ By B2ST.

 “Hi, are you okay?” Mai Lee asked me. I took out my head phones. I looked out into the view and sighed.

“Yeah, I’m fine.”  I said softly.

“Are you sure? Because you don’t sound too convincing.” Taehyun observed.

“Yes, it’s just. Everything is going so well right now and I just don’t know what I did to deserve it. Or when it could all disappear.” I expressed. Mai Lee came over and put her arm around me.

“Well, you didn’t do anything not to deserve it and we’re always gonna be here for you.”

“But how did I go from a lonely workaholic to a –

“Wonderful new addition to a loving family.” Mai Lee answered.

“This really is an amazing view. It’s a good place to think.” Taehyun thought out loud.

“Why do you think we gave this room to Sunny?” Mai Lee smiled.

“Mai lee, I really don’t know what say or how to thank you.” I said to her.

“Don’t even worry about it. But I did experience a difficult life, like yours. I know how it feels, and I just can’t stand the thought of someone living like that, alone.  And whenever I saw you in class you always looked so stressed and worrisome. And when you got into the accident that’s when I knew I had to do something.” She explained to me. And that’s when I started to tear. Taehyun came over to the other side of me and took me in his arms. Mai Lee is such a good person. If only there were more people like her in the world. I let out a long sigh.

“Okay, ahem.” I tried to hold back tears. “We should start packing.” I tried to change the subject.

“Yeah, good idea.” Mai agreed.

“Just think, in 3 days you’ll be able to see your family again.”

“Can’t wait . . .
