The One Who Got AwayDonghae had been on full alert on Jiyong’s birthday. He secretly eyed Dara days prior to JerKwon’s birthday. Although he was hoping to see an unaffected Dara because he wanted to see her finally being able to move on from JerKwon, he was preparing himself to be there for her if she shows any sign of depression. Dara exceeded his expectations because on the 18th of August Dara came to work happy and bubbling with energy.
There was a spring to her step and she arrived at the station armed with everyone’s favorite cup of coffee or tea and a box of Minzy’s grandmas baked goodies. “Hello, everyone. I’ve got a little bit of something for all of you. Just get your portions from the staff lounge.” She announce to everyone as she entered and dropped the said goodies. She gave Minzy a happy wink then breezed through Jae Suk’s cubicle--office to discuss the day’s segment.
Dong Hae looked questioningly at her and briskly followed her into the program director’s inner sanctum. He expected at best to see her normally composed self but not this. Dara and Jae Suk looked up at him as he entered.
“Yes?” Dara smilingly asked.
“Are you okay? You’re not practicing your acting skills on us, right?” He asked her.
Dara’s brows furrowed slightly but then she once again smiled at him. “Why shouldn’t I be okay? I just woke up today feeling happy. What’s wrong with that?”
“You’ve looked at the calendar, right? You’re aware of the date today?” Donghae asked.
Jae Suk looked back and forth between the two, a little confused as to what the two were cryptically talking about.
