Eleventh Chapter
Yet another Korean dramaNo one had told Jimin about the accident, but somehow, she had found out that Eric was bedridden. She ran through the corridors of the hospital, claiming she was Eric’s girlfriend, so she needed to know where he was. When she found the CEO’s room, she pushed Hyesung aside and grabbed Eric’s hand.
“Oppa,” Jimin sniffed. “Oppa, can you hear me?”
Eric opened his eyes, surprising everyone in the room. Hyesung gasped loudly, while Minwoo started to cry. “Jimin,” Eric murmured. Then he smiled. Hyesung’s smile fell. He looked at the man in shock. Eric was happy to see Jimin?
“Oppa!” Jimin hugged the man. “I was so scared.”
“Eric,” Minwoo said so the CEO would notice him. Eric grinned widely when he saw his best friend. “Hyesung and I were so worried.” Minwoo told.
Then Eric frowned.
“Who is Hyesung?” he asked.
Hyesung showed himself reluctantly when Jimin moved out of the way. The CEO looked at the man, dressed in a maid outfit. Never had Hyesung seen such a foreign look in those eyes. Eric didn’t know him. He didn’t recognise him.
“You hired a maid before the accident,” Jimin spoke.
“I see,” Eric mumbled confused.
Hyesung was about to leave the room, when the doctor entered. “Oh, I see the patient has woken up.” he walked to the bed. “Is everything okay with you?” he asked Eric, who nodded. “Wonderful. You can be discharged soon then.” he walked to the door.
Hyesung and Minwoo followed him.
“Doctor Park,” the latter said. The doctor turned. “It seems like…Eric has lost his memory.”
“Oh,” the doctor scowled.
“He doesn’t remember me, and he thinks he is still with Jimin.” Hyesung explained. “How…long do you think this will last?”
“Well, amnesia can be short term or long term. You can never really tell,” The doctor said. “Usually it helps the patient that he is surrounded by the people who were there before the accident happened. Also, some things can trigger the memory and be very helpful.” he added.
Hyesung and Minwoo nodded. The doctor needed to get back to work, so Hyesung and Minwoo remained. “What should we do?” Hyesung asked the older man.
“I don’t know,” Minwoo shrugged. “I really don’t know.”
Dongwan had gone to get some coffee for the two men, and when he came, he noticed the long faces. “What happened?” he questioned, passing the cups of coffee to the two.
“Eric has amnesia,” Hyesung answered.
“Yeah, and so, he doesn’t remember Hyesung,” Minwoo stated. “We are trying to figure out what to do.”
Dongwan understood the worry of the two. What he didn’t understand was Hyesung. Hyesung had been blackmailed to work for Eric, to pay back the debts. Now that he was free, he could just leave. But he didn’t. He didn’t even seem to think about leaving right now. “We’ll find a way,” Dongwan smiled. “Have you seen Andy? I brought him coffee too.”
“He is taking this Eric thing hard,” Minwoo said. “I haven’t seen him since we came here.”
“We should go see how Junjin is feeling…” Hyesung suggested. “I feel guilty not having done that.”
The other two nodded and together they entered the room close by. Junjin wasn’t alone. Andy was seated right next to him on a chair. He was sleeping. Junjin was awake, staring at the butler. Minwoo cleared his throat so Junjin would notice them, and when he did, they all walked to the bedside. “How are you feeling…?” Hyesung asked, scared that the driver had lost his memory too.
“I’m fine, hyung,” Junjin answered. “How is Eric hyung?”
“Well,” Minwoo started. “He has lost his memory…for now. But we will find a way to restore it.”
Junjin nodded. It was unlike him to see him so serious. He always smiled. He was always cheerful. He had not smiled even once since they had stepped to the room. “How long as Andy been here?” Dongwan gestured toward the butler. They were all whispering so he wouldn’t wake up.
“I don’t know,” Junjin shrugged. “He was here when I woke up.”
They all noticed the deep wound on the side of the chauffeur’s face. It was so deep that it was going to leave a permanent mark. It didn’t matter. Junjin was handsome, and y, and everything like that, so this wound was not going to stop him. It was unfortunate that his arm was broken. He wouldn’t be able to drive Eric around in a while.
“Are you really okay?” Hyesung asked the younger man.
“I’m fine,” Junjin flashed a semi-smile.
The people, who knew the chauffeur well, could tell that he was forcing that expression. But they didn’t push him or confront him. Junjin had his reasons. They all understood him. Eric was only smiling because he couldn’t remember anything. That’s what Hyesung told himself. Junjin’s reaction
