Nice and Straight Once More
Red StringThe sun awoke, rising up to the reflected blue sky, its rays shining a blinding light against my eyes.
Waking up was never a difficult deed for me. However, after a night of dancing red knots, opening my eyes was not particularly easy to accomplish.
Slowly, I opened my eyes. I sat up, feeling no sort of tension or suffocation. Going across my room was a line of red, radiating a small glow, contradicting the aura it gave the night before. The string illuminated a soft glow, resembling the mesmerizing glow I played with as a small child.
The string was once more, nice and straight.
It would almost feel like a game, between the string and I, to see who could last the night. Some nights the string would beat me. Other nights, however, I would get the privilege to watch the beautiful process of it unwinding. The string, turning a deeper red, almost purple, lifting itself, the suffocation gone, the begging gone, unwinding with the uttermost grace. It's so beautiful, it's almost as if the string had won again. I would not argue, for the process of unwinding was a great honor I would sacrifice any win to achieve.
Of course, I wouldn't always wake up to a straight string. But this morning, I woke up to a nice calming string.
It had become nice and straight once again.
