Fated - Chapter 3

Killer Soul-mates

29 Nov. 2011

“I … I,” she hesitated, spotting flashlights in a close proximity to the pair of them, the hushed sound of voices audible in the distance. Nichkhun leapt from his position, unconciously concealing her behind his large stature but unsure of why he was doing so. Victoria scrambled to her feet, standing by his side as she to awaited the oncoming presence as though they had immediately become allies in the space of 2 minutes.

“What are you doing? How did it get free?” the blinding light of a torch directed towards them, Hara's face wrinkled in disgust and infuriation as she noticed the dazed hunter and vampire before her, questioning what may have happened during the period she had left the Magnet alone.

Victoria slowly paced herself in front of him, twisting her face away from Hara's line of sight,“Get out of here. There must be some kind of stairway in the back,” she whispered, urging him to leave when he could.

Nichkhun was frozen by her side, internally mocking her words in his mind. The humans weren’t at all able to intimidate him and this line of thinking somewhat angered him. He consisted of more efficient qualitites that made him who he was. As long as he had the ulterior motive and drive, he could be successful in his mission. Yet a thought in the midst of the others urged him to leave. But not yet. Not without something he essentially required.

“Hara, are you there? Did you find it?” the others asked as they appeared by her side, the exact questioning that Victoria had noticed within Hara appearing across their faces. The atmosphere around her dropped into a state of hostilitiy, her answers to their questions strange and inexplicable. She glared at the vampire by her side as he contradicted her demands. Worry existed within her, not willing for him to get hurt even if she hated what he was. Ultimately she would be betraying the hunters' trust.

Hara circled the both of them, shifting her weight from foot to foot as they remained frozen within her complete circle. A smirk tugged at the corners of her lips, an ability existing within her to read the emotions evident in his face. She began to ponder over whether Leeteuk had given her Victoria purpously to add to their group, as if he knew she would betray them in aiding a vampire. It didn't appear like the kind of behaviour she would expect from a leading, successful hunter. One which she too had admired.

“Well, well, I think our visitor wants to stay. Maybe we will be able to continue what we first planned,” Happiness was evident in Hara's tone, shoving Victoria aside as the others firmly gripped her arms, digging the sharpness of their nails into Victoria's milky skin. A single breath didn't escape from either of their lips, forced closed to avoid unnecessary action against them.

“Huh, I guess you really do want to stay. This is going to be one fun evening,” Hara laughed, brushing her fingers against the flawless cheeks of her prisoner, somewhat admiring his beauty. Her other hand fiddled with the necklace hung around her neck, a cross hanging from the thin silver, embellished with insignificant gems. She tore it from her neck, knowing what torture it could have caused him as she pressed it against his face. The frozen skin beneath burned fervently, an acute pain running through him, unbearable.

Victoria stared at him in worry.Go! You have enough time, just go! she screamed internally hoping it would have some effect on Nichkhun’s actions. But as she had expected, it hadn't affected him at all as he recieved Hara's torture without a flinch of his muscle.

“I’m going to take this like you want to stay here. Well, why don’t we get you comfortable and we can get started,” she added, her wooden handcuffs as she crept up behind him, throwing the necklace to the ground. The faint red mark of his torturous experience was visible across his right cheek, flushing to a deep red. Yet, he remained composed, face blank from emotions. Hara held the handcuffs over his wrists, prepared to fasten them as the vampire jolted to his right, taking her by complete surprise.

The other hunters launched forward with an inner hope that he wouldn't notice as a smile curled at his lips.  Eunhyuk’s hands reached to land on his shoulders as Nichkhun firmly tightened his hands around Eunhyuk's wrists. He raised an eyebrow, questioning Eunhyuk's motives as he struggled in the parasite's firm grasp. Before another could be breathed from Eunhyuk's trembling lips, he was thrown against the concrete wall. his bones shattering at impact. Victoria watched, jaw dropped as his body crumpled to the ground, the life lost from his eyes.

A guffaw escaped Nichkhun's lips, glaring at the faces inked with shock before him, “And you thought you were really going to get me, didn’t you?”

“We need back-up, NOW!” Hara screamed into the phone, body shaking vigorously in fear. Their mission had taken a 180 degree turn, compltely dangerous and or fatal. They had no idea what thoughts ran through his mind, how he planned on escape.

The other hunters lunged towards him from all sides, trying to capture and secure the vampire within their control. But ultimately, they were all knowlegable in the way that they could not compete against him. Never had they experienced the situation before in they're line of work. Never had they been prepared for a mission of that form of difficult. He swiftly made his way out of their clutches, his feet thudding against the ground at break-neck speed as he rushed towards the exit.

Victoria was suspended in her initial position, watching as a war between their worlds occured before her eyes. Her brain was unable to process the situation, happening too quickly as her eyes switched back and forth between vampire and human. She lifted her head just as he ran towards her, wrapping his arms around her slim waist before he exited the building. Oh my god! What is he doing? Where is he taking me? She thought as he avoided the other hunters on escape, jolting from side to side as nausea sat in the pit of her stomach.

“What are you doing? Let me go!” Victoria shrieked, hands curled into fists as she exerted her strength upon his back. Her cries were ignored as they ran through the isolated streets of Seoul, feet crunching on the soft, newly-set snow, the storm of snow-drops paused. His footprints were clearly visible across their path as he realised the best situation was for them to leave Seoul immediately. She heaved a sigh, giving up in defeat as her energy slowly escaped from her. Without any idea as to why he had chosen to take her, she didn’t know if she could make it out alive.

“Will you please tell me what you want with me?” Victoria asked furiously as they approached the car in the midst of the forestry on the edgeof the city. Her hand swept over the luxurious piece of metal as Nichkhun set her down in the backseat, slamming the door closed. He clambered into the front seat, securely locking the doors to ensure she would have no opportunity of escape. It wasn't until that moment that she realised that she consisted of no weapons for self-defense, precious and vital for her survival. And she treated the situation as though she was a child with no toys.

“You seriously wanted to be left with all those other people who were furious you let me out,” he finally replied as the keys jingled in his hand, the roaring of an engine in the backdrop as he ignited the car. Something about him kept her intrigued and fascinated. Was it the mystery behind his enigmatic character? How he possessed such handsome looks that she'd never seen before? Or the fact that she knew he was a deadly being that could possibly kill her? She couldn’t help but stare at him from behind..

Distracton bothered him as the car continued along the icy path which ran through the forest, the end not to be seen for miles. He felt a burning sensation on the back of his head, her eyes focused upon him.  He knew for a fact that he was handsome – everyone said so- but he never thought that a hunter – the people who despised his kind the most- would be so intrigued.

“Stop staring. I can’t focus,” Nichkhun said aloud, forcing his foot upon the break as the car was brought to a sudden stop. Victoria was caught off guard, jolting forward, colliding with the back of his seat. Her fingers rubbed over her temples as she winced in pain, directing a look of disgust towards him. Uh, I should have worn a seatbelt. At least I’m still wearing my mask, she thought as her back cushioned against the comforting fabric of the car seat.

Nichkhun glared at her through the mirror before opening his pursed lips, “Just move to the front.”

Victoria clambered over the other seats, resting into the passenger seat by his side as she swung her legs forward. A click was audible as she fastened the seatbelt securely, ensuring she was in no position to cause any unnecessary accidents. The heat was at an excess of 40°C. She was unable to withstand the sweltering temperatures, vibrating the lukewarm air surrounding her as she waved her hands. Beads of sweat dripped onto her hand as she cautiously lifted the mask inches away from her face, heat radiating from her black jumpsuit. And she couldn't help but question the torture the parasite was causing her to suffer.

In a period of 3 minutes, breathing had become near impossible, panting and heaving each breath. She internally debated removing the suffocating mask from her face, knowing what consequences it could have brought upon her. But she really couldn’t? If she could make it away from the vampire, he would be able to find her by recognition of her face. She didn't have much choice in the sitation. She peeled it from her face, exposing cheeks which had transcended into a deep red, fervent burning in the heat. Long dark hair fell into her eyes, sitting in waves which cascaded down her jumpsuit.

Nichkhun couldn’t help but watch her from the corner of his eye. He was curious as to what she looked like from the moment they held each other and was awaiting the moment her mask could finally come off. It was the worst thing a hunter could have done – exposing her identity- but that was her mistake and reason didn't exist within him to care. As he drove, he continued to make small glances at her, leisurely scanning his eyes over the features of her face, trying to capture her beauty and save it in his mind. Beauty literally oozed from her. Her dark brown hair looked so soft and silky to touch that he had an urge to lean to the side and ran his fingers through the locks of her hair. Her eyes sparkled in amazement, glistening in the moonlight, that he could stare into for the rest of eternity. Her pursed lips daring him to taste them for himself.

He watched until he could no longer tear his eyes away from her. Snap out of it! She’s only human, one side debated, detesting his overwhelming desire. Oh, please, you are still male. And males have needs. Not only is she y but kissable, the other argued. Absorbed in his thoughts, he didn't realize how his driving had been affected, the car swerving to the opposite side of the road, dangerously capable of causing a fatal accident.

Victoria glanced at him from the corner of her eye to find the deep restlessness and admiration which lay within him. No wonder he was paying no attention to his driving. She lifted her hand, hrowing it forward and whipping it across his face with great speed as the oncoming pain rushed to his cheeks. Nichkhun shook his mind of the thoughts, returning to his senses just as the faint lights of an oncoming car lit the cold gravel in the darkness. The car shot forward at a rate of 80mph, past the legal limit and only god knew if they would make it on time.

Time had slowed in the of the moment. The other car inched closer and closer, unaware of them as they drove carelessly. Cold fog blinded their vision and the distant surroundings, which remained unlit, almost as though they had never existed.

“I’m going to die. I’m going to die next to a vampire. Mom, Dad, I’m so sorry. I couldn’t fulfil my promise. Please forgive me,” Victoria apologised as a drop of sorrow ran down the length of her cheek, bleeding from her soul. Her life was in God's hand. The god who hadn't exist in her mind for years. She come to an instant death in the wake of an accident, the past flashing through her mind. Worry didn't exist within the parasites mind for he'd come out as if nothing had ever happened/

He swerved the car instantly, the bumper scratching against the side railings as sparks flew from contact. Victoria didn’t witness what had just happened, her head held down in fear, eyes squeezed shut. The car came to an immediate stop. The other drove by without a clue of what could have happened. He should have let it happen. He should have let the vile humans die. But it was forced upon him. And he couldn't help but suspect that she was important to him, a soul-mate as they had been called.

“Am I dead?” Victoria asked, blinking her eyes drowsily as darkness appeared before her. The silhouette of the vampire however, was completely visible. Her ‘near death’ experience had now given her the correct drive to kill the vampire who had killed her parents. She couldn’t die without taking her revenge. But she could only do that by enlisting his help.
