Title: Wednesday Morning Original Title: Dandyu Day Posted: 3 March 2015 (Dandyu Day) Patters of rain were heard faintly from the quiet bedroom, which was located in the tenth level of an apartment building. The bedroom itself was really simple; dominated by white as the main color and a flat 50-inch screen TV hanging on the wall, facing the queen-size bed. A walk-in closet was found on the other side of the room, right beside the adjoining bathroom.   Suddenly, there was a single beep sounding in the quiet room and the curtains hanging on one side of the room slowly opened, showing the rainy day in Seoul outside.   Hearing the beep, the owner of the said room opened her eyes and reflexively scanned her room in case someone came in. Sure that no one interrupted her sleep she placed her head back on her fluffy pillow and pulled the duvet over her body with a sigh, continuing her sleep.   “Nggg…”   Just when she closed her eyes, slight whimper was heard behind her, and only then did she realize that someone was sleeping with her, even though she made sure that she was sleeping alone the night before.   The girl shifted her position, and the other person did the same thing. The movement showed the face of the mysterious human, making the girl smile at what she saw even though she was not fully awake yet. She then wrapped an arm around the person’s waist and kissed the cheek, before resting her chin on the person’s shoulder.   For a second there, she thought that she could finally continue her sleep in that position. However, the uninvited guest again shifted their position so that she was in the bedroom owner’s embrace instead.   “Yah… Aren’t you making yourself too comfortable?” the room owner said with a playful scolding, even though her voice was still hoarse.   Satisfied with their position, a grunt of disapproval came out. “Five more minutes, Taengoo…”   Taeyeon chuckled and wrapped her arms tighter around her guest. She closed her eyes and sighed in content, taking everything in from the person in her arms: from the warmth emitting from the petite body to the vanilla-scented hair and skin.   Wait, vanilla?   “Yah, Lee Soonkyu, did you use my shampoo and body wash again?”   The mysterious girl nodded against her chest, and instead of replying she snuggled closer, as if they were not close enough.   “Sigh, I could never be angry with you…”   Sunny slightly lifted her head so that she could see Taeyeon’s face even if she was barely awake. “I know you love me that much, Taengoo...”   Taeyeon chuckled at how hoarse she sounded. She must have worked hard in her radio broadcast the night before that she lost her usual cute high-pitched voice. But that was not the only reason. She was amused at how much Sunny knew her hatred towards aegyo and still attempted to annoy her with that voice.   “That I do, Soonkyu-yah. That I do.” Taeyeon planted a lingering kiss on Sunny’s forehead, and even though she couldn’t see it, she knew Sunny smiled at that.   As much as she wanted to cuddle with Sunny, she had to prepare for breakfast. The grumble in her stomach made sure of that, and she decided to refrain on the cuddle and get something to eat. Making sure that Sunny was still asleep, she slowly detached herself out of Sunny’s hug and quickly replaced the empty space with one of her pillows.   With slow steps, Taeyeon made her way to her fridge, taking out ingredients for bacon, sausage, and eggs, not forgetting her tub of ice cream from the freezer. While preparing the breakfast, she would scoop a spoon into the ice cream tub, getting her morning snack. She then sauntered to get bread and put two in the toaster. While waiting, she plated the American breakfast in one large plate and poured orange juice in two glasses. Once the ding of the toaster was heard she put the toasts on the plate, storing her unfinished ice cream back in the freezer, and made her way into the room with the breakfast on a tray.   After carefully putting the meal on her bedside table, she climbed onto her bed, finding Sunny in the same position as when she left her. She softly kissed the chubby cheek and cooed, “Soonkyu-yah, wake up.”   Sunny just groaned, not wanting to wake up anytime soon. Taeyeon knew at that point waking her girlfriend up with hugs and kisses would be futile. So instead, she leaned her back against the headboard, turned the TV on, and put the large breakfast plate on her lap. She took a bite of fried bacon and searched for an interesting channel to watch that morning, preferably cartoons.   It didn’t take Sunny long to open her eyes at the smell of freshly-cooked breakfast beside her. After all, the smell of bacon and eggs are the best part of mornings, right?   “I want that too…” Sunny muttered with half-lidded eyes at Taeyeon’s plate.   “Then sit up. I made this for us.” Taeyeon said nonchalantly, still looking for a cartoon channel to watch.   Sunny clicked her tongue, slowly sitting up beside Taeyeon. “How romantic.”   “That comes from someone who hates romantic movies. Those are lies, you said so yourself.”   “Romance every once in a while won’t hurt, Taengoo.”   Finally found the cartoon channel she was looking for, Taeyeon put the TV remote down and looked at Sunny. “I kissed your cheek to wake you up, cooked you breakfast, and now we are having breakfast in bed watching cartoon in a rainy morning. Tell me, which one of those is not romantic?”   “You snapping at me so early in the morning was not!” Sunny huffed, taking a bite of toast and chewed it in annoyance.   Taeyeon smirked. She loves annoying Sunny. It might be one of her favorite things to do in life after eating ice cream, closely followed with sharing a snack with Sunny. “Good morning,” she whispered before planting a kiss at Sunny’s cheek.   Sunny turned her head, meeting Taeyeon’s playful smirk and pecked her lips. “Good morning.”   And so began their breakfast. Taeyeon put one arm around Sunny’s shoulder as the latter reached in to take a bite at the egg. Every once in a while, Sunny would feed Taeyeon and the latter obliged by opening . The two finished their breakfast in silence after finishing their juice, and Sunny took the initiative to clean the dishes while Taeyeon brush her teeth.   The couple met in Taeyeon’s bed once Sunny finished brushing her teeth. She put her arms around Taeyeon and leaned her head on the older girl’s chest, watching the cartoon on the TV indolently.   “I can never get bored of Mickey and his gang,” Taeyeon said in fascination.   “Me too.”   “I don’t know about you, but I like old Disney cartoons. The older the better.”   “Uh-huh. I love their new animations too.”   “Yeah, but their older cartoons are the best.”   “Hmmm…”   Feeling drowsiness creeping in, Sunny snuggled her head to Taeyeon’s chest, taking in as much warmth as she could in the cool room. She closed her eyes, hearing the faint sound of the rain outside in between Mickey’s rant to Pluto on TV, feeling the slow rise and fall of Taeyeon’s chest along with the faint heartbeats.   Peace.   She knew she didn’t get many chances like such.
