Title: Come Back to Bed Posted: 2 February 2015 Sunny rolled over on her back, her eyes looking up at the ceiling on the dark room. She turned her attention on the alarm clock beside the bed. It was a little over 2 a.m., and she was still wide awake. Sighing, she looked back at the ceiling, her hands gripping on the edge of her blanket.   Somehow the night seemed a bit colder than the usual, even though she had prepared herself with a hot bath, warm sleeping attire, and adjusted the temperature of the room. Still she couldn't rest properly, even though she would have a long day at the Coex Artium opening in the morning.   Her drowsiness was apparent, but she couldn't rest her eyes, and it frustrated her. Exhaling a frustrated sigh, she got up, grabbed her pillow and phone, before walking out of her room on her slippers. Trying to make no sound in the hallway, she made her way towards the room a few doors away from hers. She grabbed the handle of the door, opening it slowly so that she wouldn’t wake up the room occupant.   “Taeyeon-ah?” she whispered at the dark room. Hearing no response, she ushered herself in, slowly closing the door, and tip-toed towards the bed. She was about to wake the sleeping occupant, but much to her dismay, there was nobody on the bed. She the bedside lamp and the room was empty.   “Where’s Taengoo…?”   #   "I have something to tell you," Sunny giddily said, taking a seat beside her housemate who was busy playing Superstar SMTown with her phone.   "What is it?"   "I finally said yes."   A buzzer sound indicating a missed beat was heard, but Taeyeon kept her stoic expression. "Oh."   "I'm going on a date with him tomorrow after my broadcast."   "Really?" the long-haired girl replied in monotone, her manicured thumbs still dancing on her phone screen.   The nonchalant replies annoyed Sunny a little that she pouted, scrunching her forehead in the process. "You're not listening to me, Taengoo."   Taeyeon closed her eyes and exhaled, putting down her phone in the process. She then scooted a little bit so that she faced the slightly shorter girl. "Okay, you have my attention now. What is it?"   Smiling in victory, she started telling Taeyeon about her upcoming date, in which the latter only responded with nods. When the story came to an end, the black-haired girl gave a warm smile. "I'm happy for you, Soonkyu-yah."   It had been a few days since then, but Taeyeon was still not back at the dorm. No matter how relentless Sunny was in trying to contact her, it was of no avail; the girl didn’t budge. Thanks to Tiffany, the shortest member found out that Taeyeon went back home to Jeonju after her schedule with TaeTiSeo, saying that she missed her dog. It should put Sunny’s mind to ease, but unfortunately it wasn’t. It worried her even more.   “The number you are calling is not available-“   Sunny exhaled audibly, after trying to reach Taeyeon a few times in two days and no result. Two days, and it already felt like months. It wasn’t like the older girl to ignore her, and it worried the May-born girl. She looked at her phone in forlorn before opening her messenger. Her thumb scrolled down and stopped at ‘TaengooY’. After contemplating for a bit, she started typing her message. Her previous attempts in luring Taeyeon to answer her calls or replying her messages failed miserably, and she had to use one last attempt she hated the most: honesty. But if it could make Taeyeon come back to her, she would do it; she couldn’t stand another day without communicating with her dandyu partner.   Once she finished typing her message, her thumb hovered above the ‘Send’ button, contemplating whether she should send the message or not. A thought of not being able to hear Taeyeon’s voice struck and the thumb immediately pushed the button. It took less than a second to send the message, but she knew it would take a lot longer than that to get the ‘Read’ notification to show. Still Sunny stared at her phone, wishing that Taeyeon might actually open her message, and maybe call her soon. After a full minute of not getting the desired outcome, the shoulder-haired girl sighed, putting her phone in her bag before getting to her schedule.   #   Meanwhile, in a two-story house in Jeonju, a girl was playing with a black-furred dog, pushing what looked like a rope in front of the dog’s mouth before pulling it away. The rope was worn, indicating that it was used frequently by the owner to tease the pooch. The black-haired girl teased by flinging the rope around with her pet barking around her, wanting to pull on the rope on its master’s hand.   A beep indicating an incoming message broke her focus and the dog finally caught on one end of the rope. She was surprised, but immediately broke into laughter once she saw her dog gingerly pulled on rope, growling smugly. The two started their tug of war, but the girl laughed too much to have some strength on her hand that she let the dog yanked the rope away from her and be the ‘champ’ of their little game instead.   Still giggling from the game, she then crawled to the nearest coffee table where she put her phone. Her laughter subsided after knowing the preview of the last incoming message and the person who sent it. Instead of replying or reading the rest of a message, she pushed the ‘Close’ button and threw her phone to the nearest sofa.   When nighttime came, the very same girl sat on the bed, leaning her back on the headrest with a pillow in between. Her phone lit up, showing her unread messages, but her eyes were set on one name. Her thumb hovered over, contemplating whether she should open the messages or not, with the back of her mind wishing that there was some sort of distraction that made her stop contemplating. Please call me, I’ll be waiting.   Taeyeon exhaled audibly from reading the messages, which varied from playful, annoyed, worried, angry, to downright helpless. She ran her fingers through her hair, again contemplating if she should reply to the message that was sent that afternoon. She knew the girl had been waiting for days, and now that she knew what kind of rollercoaster ride Sunny’s feelings had experienced the past week, and she didn’t know if she could inflict any other pain.   And so, after a week, Taeyeon finally decided to do what she was supposed to.   #   Sunny laid flat on the bed, her hand clutching on the duvet, wrapping her tiny body to warm herself up. She had been trying to close her eyes and sleep, but she couldn’t, even though she resorted to sleeping in Taeyeon’s bed that night. Thinking that at least the smell of Taeyeon could put her to a good sleep, she excused herself from the sharehouse to spend the night in her dorm instead, but it was still of no avail.   Annoyed that her plan didn’t work as she thought it would, she pulled the pillow underneath her head, smelling the familiar scent there. For a moment there she felt safe, but a thought struck her that she screamed into her pillow.   She was angry; angry that she couldn’t have a proper sleep without looking at her phone first; angry that she couldn’t wake up without wishing that Taeyeon would leave a message; angry that Taeyeon wouldn’t pick up her calls or even read her messages; angry that she had to ask around for Taeyeon’s condition because the girl refused to tell her anything; and angry that Taeyeon made her feel like she did something wrong when she didn’t know what she did.   But above all, she was angry
