The Quake Inside Me
Description
Kai is an outwardly tough member of a mysterious gang. While running a mission, he finds a small, beautiful boy lying in a pile of earthy rubble. He knew that he needed to protect this boy, and decided to bring him back and present him to the leader.
D.O. is a homeless boy living on the streets. His only friend is a large German Shepherd dog named Sun. He has no memories of his parents, but remembers being run out of the orphanage as a child because of his unexplainable power. He has no control over his ability to manipulate the earth beneath his feet, and this has caused his misfortune. That is, until he is found by Kai, who also posesses an extraordinary ability.
Foreword
His body was bruised and battered; dusted with the gritty dirt that lay around him. His hair was dark and tousled, framing his face. Kai found himself feeling a need to protect this boy, who has no identity to him. He bent down and pushed a lock of hair from his cheek, revealing a tender face that made his heart leap. As he gently wrapped his arms around the boy's body, he heard a low rumble, almost like the growl of a dog, behind him. He quickly turned, and was met with the face of a large dog, whose posture was threatening. He tightened his grip around the boy and the dog lept toward him. Kai closed his eyes and concentrated. Before the dog could make contact with Kai's flesh, they were gone, and the dog was left alone, lost, without her boy.
