“Jungsu?” Taeyeon pursed her lips in confusion when she opened the door to discover the man.

“Kangin left.”

Taeyeon blinked slowly. “What do you mean?”

Jungsu’s face looked tired, exhausted, and depressed. “Kangin just left for the military.”

It took a minute for the news to process in her head. “He left...for the military?”

“He didn’t want you to know until he was gone.”

Taeyeon’s legs felt wobbly, but thankfully, Jungsu was there to hold on to her arms to steady her. “Why...why did he leave? Was it because of me?”

“Don’t say that, Taeyeon.” Jungsu said gently. “He went through a lot, and he ended up making that decision.”

“Are you okay?” Taeyeon whispered.

“Me?” Jungsu’s expression darkened and his hair fell over his eyes. “Honest?”

“Honest.”

“No,” he lowered his head. “Are you okay?”

Taeyeon gripped Jungsu’s shoulders tightly. “No. I loved him.”

“I know.”

They held each other in those positions and shed a few tears.

One lost a good friend. The other lost a lover.
