Coffee and Stars

My last update was almost 2 months ago?! OMG! I'm sorry for not updating. Anyway, here's the next chapter :) Is 3rd person POV better than  1st person?

Third person POV

Namjoon scanned his finger on the automated door lock but the door was already opened. He looked at the welcome signboard which still says “Closed’ and shrugged his shoulder. “I’m not yet late. It is still 3 minutes early.”

He was whistling as he entered the coffee shop. “Aigo! Jin hyung, you forgot to lock… WOW!”

He was astounded when he saw the room which was so clean. But what made him so astounded was Seokjin sitting on the floor with his back on the table and Soojin who was sleeping and made Seokjin’s shoulder as her pillow.

Seokjin placed his index finger on his lips, signaling Namjoon to keep quiet.

“NOISYYY!” Soojin retorted, half-asleep. But when she realized that she was not at home, she hastily stood up.

As soon as Soojin moved, Seokjin pretended to be asleep as swift as light which caused Namjoon to burst out a controlled laugh.

Soojin quietly ran out of the room. “I’ll be back! Don’t tell him what you saw!” She said to Namjoon. She completely went out of the coffee shop to get ready for her work.

Namjoon went inside with lots of curiosity… and a smile.

“Hyung, what happened?” he asked, grinning like a crazy dog.

Seokjin hit his head. “Yah! ! That never happened!”

"But why did you pretend that you are still sleeping?” Namjoon said, laughing.

“What should I do? Yell at her for cleaning my room and staying all night to take care of me?” Seokjin asked. His ears turned red as he was embarrassed talking about it.

Namjoon nodded.

“I am not rude, Namjoon! I can’t do that!” Seokjin defended.

Namjoon made a judgmental face. “Really? But that is what you usually do to her. You are always rude at her!”

“Am I?”

Namjoon nodded one more time.

“I-I’m n-not,” he said, trying to avoid Namjoon’s eyes. “Anyway, what can I do? I was born awkward!”

“But hyung, why were you two sleeping here? And what’s with those Soju? Eh? Did you have a party without me? Date perhaps?” Namjoon said, wriggling his eyebrows.

“Hey! That’s not what you think! Actually… I don’t know what happened.”

“Noona! You forgot your wallet!”

Soojin turned around to get her wallet from her younger brother. “Thanks! Do well at school!” She said, messing her brother’s hair.

“I know! I know, but why you didn’t sleep here?”

Soojin was in hurry and did not answer him but just smiled. “I’ll tell you later!”

“Yah! Noona!”

Soojin did not mind her brother and continued walking out of their house. She was almost running, heading to the coffee shop.

“GOOD MORNING!”

Soojin was almost dazzled when a bright sun – Hoseok – greeted her.

“You’re late!” he said.

“I know. Get out of my way first so I can go inside now,” she said, peeking through the window as she wished that Kim Seokjin is still sleeping.

Namjoon went out of Kim Seokjin’s room and beamed a smile when he saw them. She quickly put on the apron around her waist.

“Where is he?” She whispered to Namjoon.

“Hyung is still sleeping.”

She breathed out a relief upon hearing it. Hoseok leaned his head on Namjoon’s shoulder. “Why are you whispering?”

“It’s a barista thing,” Namjoon winked.

“I’m a barista now!” Hoseok said. “I don’t have anything to do, so I am here to help you.”

Soojin couldn’t help but smile as she was grateful that Hoseok was there.

“Wah~ I think there will be lots of ants here,” Namjoon said before leaving Soojin and Hoseok in the barista area.

“What is he saying?” Soojin asked.

“He meant that it is because you are cute,” Hoseok said while tying the apron around his waist.

“Aigoo! That’s what I’m saying! Sweet couple! Aish” Namjoon joined again. “Why don’t you just go out and date now?”

“No, you can’t. Today is a weekend and there’ll be a lot of customers today,” Seokjin just came out from his room, avoiding the gaze of Soojin.

He only gave an alibi to Namjoon that  he couldnt remember what happened but he could clearly remember what happened to him and Soojin last night. Because of that, he doesn’t have a face to look at her.

Some customers went inside the coffee shop. Namjoon went to the counter to take their orders, while Soojin and Hoseok made the drinks. When Soojin was about to get the labeled cups from Namjoon, Hoseok grabbed the cups first.

“Let me do the drinks,” he said, smiling.

“Eh? I’ll help you.”

“Just watch me do this,” Hoseok said as he shook his , dancing to the choreography of Shake It.

She laughed at Hoseok’s dance. He was too good to dance a girl’s dance!

“Your eyes cannot leave on me? I’m doing this to make your day happy,” Hoseok said with a wink.

Soojin went closer, whispering “Stop acting. No one’s watching us.” She poured the coffee into the cups.

Hoseok moved closer to her and levelled his height to Soojin. He then smiled at her, while looking directly to her eyes. Soojin was not prepared with his flirting game and was very awkward around him.

“Hyung!” he said, leaving a teasing smile to Soojin who looked at her back and saw Seokjin.

“Aish! That horse is really enjoying this game,” her thoughts.

Hours passed and customers were coming in like zombies, so do Hoseok’s sweet actions towards Soojin. Although Soojin was uncomfortable about it, she was enjoying it much.

“My dongsaeng is too happy, eh?” Yoongi said who just came to help them in the coffee shop. “Too bad, your boyfriend is going now and oppa is the replacement to that horse.”

“Why?” Soojin asked.

“Waah~ Look at that reaction!” Yoongi couldn’t believe that Soojin appeared to be more concerned why Hoseok was going than being happy for his appearance.

“I’ll be back!” Hoseok left with his phone on his ear, answering the call.

A few hours after, the customers in the coffee shop lessened. This meant an opportunity to rest for Soojin. She never had a chance to blink for a second as Namjoon and Yoongi were no big help.

Soojin stretched out her upper limbs to ease the stress.

“It is soooo good to sit, eh?” She said sarcastically as she sat with Namjoon and Yoongi who were both busy writing their song.

Yoongi glanced at her and smiled. “Saeng, 1 americano please. Thanks!”

Soojin dropped her shoulders in disbelief. “Heol~ Oppa!”

“Okay~ okay! Americano is bad for me. I got it. Uhmm, I’ll just have Matcha latte.”

“Yah Oppa! I’ve been taking orders, making coffee, serving and washing all the dishes!” Soojin complained while Yoongi nodded, pretending to listen to music.

Namjoon giggled from the little commotion.

“And you!” Soojin turned to Namjoon, “Kim Namjoon!”

Namjoon froze.

“You are an official employee here but you’re not helping me!”

“I got it,” Namjoon said, showing his dimples.

“Euh~ Why are you just nitpicking on us? Hyung is in his room all day!” Yoongi said.

The dimple on Namjoon cheek deepened. “He’s probably rolled in a ball. He’s too humiliated to face Soojin.”

“Waaah~ The sun is shining so brightly! What a nice day to make coffee,” Soojin said as she left the two boys to avoid the conversation.

She too was awkward with what happened. It drove her nuts whenever she thinks of it.

“Why did I even allow him to lean his head on my shoulder? !” she thought, pulling her hair.

Flashback:

“Stay with me,” Seokjin said as his forehead was on Soojin’s shoulder.

Soojin empathized with Seokjin. She brushed his head with her hand.

However, Seokjin’s head slowly slided down to her chest… accidentally.

The two boys – Namjoon and Yoongi – began laughing as they saw Soojin getting crazy. Namjoon told the story to Yoongi. However, it was a different story. It was about the unintentional rudeness of Seokjin to Soojin.

While Namjoon was telling the story to Yoongi, Yoongi was cracking his fingers, and left Namjoon. Namjoon already knew the reason behind it.

“Yah Shoulder Pi….g,” Yoongi was dashing to the room of Seokjin and was about to scold. But, hesitated when he saw Seokjin laying on the floor flatly with his arms spread widely.

“What are you doing? Wh…y?” Yoongi was so puzzled with Seokijn. He was lifeless and was just staring at the ceiling.

Seokjin turned his head to the desk and Yoongi followed. There were different pastries on the desk.

“What are those, hyung?” Yoongi asked. He went to the pastries and smelled each of it. “These look delicious! The smell is also nice!”

Seokjin stood up. “This is called failure, scrap, trash, disaster. That is the smell of disappointment,” he said as he introduced the cookie, brownie, bread and pies. He, then, went back laying on the floor.

“Yah! Pull yourself together! Are you giving up?” Yoongi said. He knows everything about the condition of the coffee shop. “I thought you want save this coffee shop. This is your dream, isn’t it?”

Seokijn nodded. “But how?”

Their discussion was interrupted because of a knock on the door.

“Oppa,” Soojin called Yoongi.

“How?” Yoongi said, still talking to Seokjin. “There! My dongsaeng is the answer.”

“Me?” Soojin pointed herself, confused with what was happening. Seokjin looked at her which she avoided, still awkward with last night.

“Baking is Soojin’s specialty!” Yoongi said. “Soojin, you are now a baker here.”

“Really?” Soojin couldn’t help but smile. “Ah~ by the way, what’s the mess in the kitchen?”

Yoongi hurriedly walked out so he wouldn’t be asked to clean the kitchen, but Soojin followed her.

“Yah Oppa!” Soojin exclaimed.

Yoongi turned to her. “Just help him. Seokjin is a nice person. Just put more patience. Let’s help him for the sake of his dream and sanity.”

“I know,” Soojin said.

Yoongi titled his head in confusion. “What does she know? That Seokjin is a nice person? How?”

“That’s why you also need to help us, oppa! Clean the kitchen!” She handed the apron to him.

“I will help, but not in the kitchen,” Yoongi smiled and went to the counter to take orders.

Soojin was left with no choice but to clean the kitchen which she hated the most. She prefers all the work but not the cleaning. She wore the apron to start washing dishes.

When she was about to start, Seokjin entered the kitchen and grabbed her hand.

“Are you going to wash the dishes with a wound on your finger?” Seokjin said. She looked at her finger and was surprised that it has fresh wound. She didn’t notice it. She tried to pull her hand away from Seokjin’s hand but he insisted.

“You weren’t aware of this?” He cleaned the wound and wrapped the bandage around her finger. “I was the one who caused this. Last night.. You were picking up the bottle when I called your name. You were so shocked that you pressed the piece of bottle.”

Soojin couldn’t response well, as it felt so strange that Seokjin was being nice to her.

Seokjin noticed the uneasiness of Soojin. He smiled and took the apron away from her.

“Go to the counter. I’ll clean this,” Seokjin said. Soojin insisted to clean the kitchen but, “I was the one who messed this kitchen, so it is better if I’ll clean this.”

Soojin went out of the kitchen and headed to the counter with lots of thoughts in her head.

“That’s weird,” she said, shaking off the thoughts.

“Good afternoon! May I take you order?” She said without looking at the customer.

“NOONA?!” the customer shouted in joy.

Soojin was surprised with what she was seeing. “What are you doing here, young boy?!”

“To buy your love, noona,” he said and then winked at her.

“Stop with your nonsense, Park Jimin!”
