“It’s nice to meet you.” Nayoung said with a completely blank face.

I shared a look with Siyeon

I asked, “Umm, unnie are you being sarcastic?”

“Or are you mad?” Siyeon guessed. “Unnie, I can’t tell.”

I panicked, “I can’t tell either!”

Siyeon and I glanced at the new girl, Im Nayoung, one more time before slowly sliding away backwards.

“She scares me.” Siyeon whispered into my ear.

I nodded, “Same.”

But she was pretty…

“Oh, a bug.” Nayoung said with the slightest inflection in her voice.

When we spotted the cockroach, Siyeon and I immediately began to scream.

And that was the first time I met Im Nayoung.

6 Months Later

Cafeteria

“I have come to the conclusion that the new trainee, Nayoung, is a robot and meeting adjourned.” Siyeon slammed her ‘gavel’ on the table.

Her gavel being an ice cream that broke, and baby Siyeon immediately began to cry. It was weird that Siyeon was the oldest trainee but the youngest and the most immature.

And it was also weird that it was just me with her and she was acting like we were in a meeting.

“It’s just me here, Siyeon.” I said gently.

She pouted, “We need more trainees, I have no friends.”

“Yah, I’ll leave you here then!” I sulked.

Siyeon patted my head, “I’m sorry unni you know I love you. After all, you’re basically my child cause I taught you Korean and everything.”

“I’m three years older than you.” I deadpanned.

She gave me a look, “Who are you Nayoung? Show some emotion.”

“Fine, here’s anger.” I got up.

Unfortunately, just as I got to my feet I ran into the last person anyone wanted to run into…and fell on top of her.

“Oh anyeong.” I sheepishly smiled as our noses touched.

Nayoung didn’t even blink, “Please, get off of me.”

Just before I jumped to my feet, I couldn’t help looking at her usually dead fish eyes (as Siyeon called it) looking at me intensely. Were her eyes always so pretty?

“She was a great friend that will be sincerely missed.” Siyeon said solemnly to Hoshi and DK who nodded in agreement.

Hoshi began to fake cry, “It’s just, we really tried to save her, you know?”

“Of all people she ran into Stony Godzilla Nayoung.” DK sighed.

There idiocy helped me snap out of it.
