Time To Eat! [Epilogue]

Recipe to a Good School

[lmao this is a huge time leap]

"Hello, hello! Is the camera working?"

"It's working fine Soonyoung."

"We can see you!"

Soonyoung smiled widely, sitting back in his rotating chair. It has been years since they've been at the daycare, as they're now graduating high school. Jun, Wonwoo, Soonyoung decided to video call to see what they were going to do after the big day.

"I plan on going back to my old home town, nostalgia sake." Jun said, adjusting his camera to apparently get his good side. Wonwoo laughed quietly at the male's actions. "What about you two?"

Soonyoung thought with a hum. What was he going to do? Of course, after the graduation he was going to have a feast with his family but after that? What colleges does he have to apply to? All this stuff hurt his brain.

The ravenette spoke up, seeing that the other was taking too long. "Eh, probably going to play some games, get a job."

"Wow, who knew you could be so lazy." The brunette spat, teasing the other. He huffed, crossing his arms and muttering a small 'shut up'

The blond was still thinking in the back of his head what he was going to do in life, but right now he had a better idea. "Guys! Why don't we go to our daycare?"

It was the perfect plan, after graduation day, they'd round up the rest of the gang, heading towards the place they all met: The day care. "It'd be a lot of fun, and we can see how old they all look!" He joked, snickering to himself.

"You know, that's not a bad idea. Hard to believe it came out of your mouth."

"That's so rude, I can be smart, Wonwoo!"  The boy laughed loudly, watching as Soonyoung mocked Wonwoo's pose from earlier when he was upset.

“So, let’s ask the others! I’ll see if I can get them online.” Jun chuckled, logging out with a smile. His part of the screen flashed a black and soon it only showed the other two.

“Do you think they’ll agree?” Soonyoung said, worried. He wasn’t so sure about some of his friends, after all, some had strict parents. The ravenette nodded, scoffing slightly. “I’m sure they will, they wouldn’t pass up this for the world.”

Soonyoung had a thought as he wondered who would come. A hazy pink flashed in his mind, making him widen his eyes. As soon as it appeared it disappeared. He smiled sadly to himself. It’s be a miracle if he came on the same day.

“Dude?” The blond blinked owlishly, looking to the screen where he saw the other worriedly frowning at him. “You okay?”

“Sorry, happen popped into my mind.”

“Is it the test we just did? Did you fail?”

‘Stop teasing me!” He shouted, hearing the other snicker before two dings were heard from the speakers. Three squares appeared on the appeared on the screen, first they were pitch black before bursting into colour. It was Mingyu and Seokmin, as well as Jun.

“Hey, we’re back!” Jun cheerfully greeted, the others waving gently. “Did you guys miss me?”

“Not really.” Wonwoo muttered out playfully, the other mocking a hurt expression as he mouth a ‘I thought we were friends’,

“How do you stand each other?” Mingyu asked, letting out a tired chuckle. The blond suspected that the other didn’t have much sleep.

“Uhm, just like you and Minghao get along, duh.” The ravenette replied, before raising an eyebrow. “Speaking of, where is he? And did you even ask the others?”

“I think he’s going to a family dinner? He didn’t tell me where.” Seokmin spoke out, holding up a finger.

“And yes,” Jun continued, pouted slightly. “Of course I did. I reached to Dino, he said he could go after school, and I got Seungkwan too but Hansol wouldn’t pick up.”  Was he upset? Nah, he’s probably good enough.

A knock was heard, making the group look at their room’s door.

“It’s not mine guys.” Wonwoo spoke, shrugging and turning back to his webcam.

“Me neither.” Mingyu and Seokmin said together, laughing at how in sync they were

“My door is open, haha.” Soonyoung added, rubbing the back of his neck as he spun around to face the screen.

“Junnie, your mom tells you to come downsta- Oh hey, is that the guys?” A familiar voice was heard from the brunette’s side of the call and soon everyone knew who it was as they walked closer to the camera.

“Minghao! This is where you were going?” Mingyu blinked owlishly, staring at the small box that showed the two.

“I mean, yeah, I thought I told you.” He stared at them blankly as Jun stood up to give him his seat. With a toothy smile, he plopped down as the other walked out the room. Probably talking to his mom and getting another chair for himself.

“Oh yeah, Minghao, did you ask you about the plans?” Soonyoung said before Minghao started to sparkle. ‘Aah, so he did ask.’ He thought. He knew he really liked the day care. The boy used to be a shy creature, but now he’s spontaneous, outgoing and just out there and it was all because of the day care. Or as Jun says it, ‘It’s ‘cause of me! Ha Ha!’

What a loser, it was all of them. ‘I think.’ He thought.

“Yeah, I’m totally going. Who else is coming?” He asked excitedly.

Wonwoo spoke immediately. “We don’t know if Hansol’s coming.”

“Yeah? I can call him.”

“Don’t bother, Jun tried.”

“Nah, it’ll be better from me. He’s never not texted me back.” For some reason, Minghao looked extremely evil as he typed away on his phone. Weird.

“... What happened when he didn’t?” Mingyu asked, curiously.

“Two words: Boo Seungkwan.”

“Note: Never piss Minghao off.” Seokmin shuddered.

“No, don’t piss Seungkwan off.” Mingyu groaned, covering his face with his hand.

Just then Jun had entered in with a fold up chair, and well, unfolded it beside the other. “Guess it came from my side, huh?” The group chuckled, some rolling their eyes.

“This just in,” Minghao started, showing the webcam the phone. “We got everyone on board.”

The group started to cheer, Soonyoung clapping loudly as the video call began to lag. Too much noises, he guesses but he was extremely thrilled. This was going to be an amazing trip and it’s going to be right after an amazing graduation. Amazing, but probably nerve wrecking

He sighed quietly. “Oh, boy, this is gonna be rough.” He muttered out.

“Soonyoung, you say something?” Wonwoo spoke out from all the cheering.

“Nah, nothing.”

______________________

Soonyoung took the deepest breath in as he stepped into the high school, backpack slung over his shoulder. He felt as it swung against his back, knowing it was completely worn out. It didn't matter however, he knew he won't need it after today.

He was a nervous wreck, as if he could break any moment. All the stares from his new hairdo certainly didn't help. Hope they won't start shouting.

“Blue?!” Nevermind.

The now blue haired male turned to see a wide eyed Wonwoo and an oddly proud Jun. Looks like he likes it? Then Wonwoo was the one shouting.

He liked his new hair, it was a new start. After the group ended the call, Soonyoung thought back to that hazy pink. He liked hanging out with that, although if he was pelted with toy blocks now he’d probably faint. And he couldn’t believe that they didn’t know that dinosaurs just didn’t exist anymore but he also couldn’t believe that he went through a lot to get a hand crafted tooth. He really looked up to him, that hazy pink. To remember and continue remembering, he went to his sister and asked her if she had any dye.

He didn’t know how much she really had.

He chuckled, walking toward the two. “Big day, big change?” Jun questioned, nudging his hip with his elbow, making the other laugh a bit more.

“Does it not look good?” He questioned, mostly to Wonwoo who hadn't said anything yet.

The boy quickly shook his heads, raising his hands. “No! Sorry bud, just surprised. Icy blue is a nice look on you.”

“So you like blue?”

Mingyu slided in, pretending to write on his hand with a closed pen. Wonwoo rolled his eyes playfully, crossing his arms as he scoffed. “I said it looks good on him. You? Nah.”

The other two chuckled as the ravenette patted the defeated male’s back before he walked away, shouting ‘Good luck! I’ll be in class rooting for you, or making fun of you with Hao.’

“I guess it’s our turn to leave as well, huh?” The brunette winked, thumb pointing to the doors of the auditorium behind them. “Also I might follow in Soonyoung’s footsteps, how does strawberry blonde look?”

“Oh hell yeah, and I’ll dye my hair more black.” Wonwoo replied, laughing as the group walk towards the doors. “Remember, we’ll meet at the school after we go home with our families, ‘kay?” Soonyoung took one more breath. This was it.

It was prep for the graduation, not the real thing but it was still breathtaking. Not in a good way, in a ‘I want to go home’ but he’ll make it. ‘Cause they all did.

“Whoo! Alright, let’s go baby! Jun exclaimed, standing outside outside the school with the group, smiles all around. As if they were a football team, they huddled up, extremely enthusiastic. It was a trip filled complete nostalgia and they were ready.

“Oh my God, what do you think Mr. Jeonghan and the others look like?” Chan questioned.

“Mr. Joshua probably looks the same, I’m betting.” Hansol inquired, already pulling out his wallet to get the money.

“I’m betting against. He will, I swear, look totally different.” Mingyu replied, taking out a ten out of his pocket.

“Guys, we just got outta school and we’re already gambling?” Minghao raised an eyebrow, smirking. “Also I want in, I’m with Hansol.”

"Of course you guys a-"

"Are we going or not? We gotta catch that bus!" Seungkwan called out, already far away from the group.

"How in the world did he get that far?" Soonyoung questioned, raising an eyebrow as they walked towards the now leading Seungkwan.

"According to this," Seungkwan started, pointing to the bus pole with all the times on it. "Ours should be coming soon."

"Man, I'm kind of nervous! I mean, what if they don't recognize us?" Mingyu whispered.

The ravenette rolled his eyes. "I'm pretty sure they'd recognize us, we're the only ones who stayed throughout it all." And he was telling the truth true, they were. As Soonyoung remembers, they were alone until other parents saw that there were still kids there and decided to give them another chance.

"It'd kinda be sad if they didn't though." The blue haired muttered as the group saw the bus roll up beside them

As they begin crawling on, he began to think. 'Would he recognize me?' He thought to himself, suddenly worried. He awkwardly chuckled, looking up at his icy blue bangs. 'Well, maybe he would.'

"Hey, Blue Boy!" Seokmin shouted from the bus window, getting the male's attention. "We're leaving without you!" It was then he realized everyone was on the bus except for him. In a rush he jumped on, earning a small grunt from the bus driver once they closed the doors.

He sat next to Seokmin who chatted loudly with Hansol and Seungkwan behind him. Jun reminded them to be mindful for the others by telling them to respectfully 'shut up'.

He's been with them for a long time and really has become accustomed to the ‘mother’ role. They all had gotten into roles. Him, Seungkwan and Seokmin had become mood makers, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Minghao had become the bickering quarte, Jun doubling a role in there too. And Chan had definitely the role of the youngest, ‘cause it was true.

‘I wonder what role he would have.’ He chuckled at the thought. “The cute one.” He whispered, laughing a bit more. He didn’t notice that the bus had gotten unbelievably quiet and the only thing they heard was laughter coming from the other. He looked around and felt everyone’s eyes on him.

“Wooow, what are you laughing at?” Minghao teased as his face reddened. He mentally prayed for the boy to not go any further. Luckily the bus was at their stop and his excitement clearly distracted his evil intentions. He has to make sure to thank the bus driver.

The group travelled their way off the bus, suddenly hand in hand and faced with the door of the day care. Yet, it was hard to take a step, as they were stuck to the ground. Chan spoke what they were all thinking. “It’s kinda scary though.”

“You know what!” Soonyoung took a step, twirling on his foot to face the others. “We’re here now. We can’t go back, we can do this! This is gonna be great!” He grinned and soon the group grinned with him.

A loud cheer surrounded the crowd as they put their hands in their air and stomped their way to the daycare. The blue haired boy knocked loudly, face filled with confidence until someone opened the door.

He had short dark brown hair now but the group’s smile grew brighter. “Mr. Jeonghan!” They shouted, clearly surprising the other.

“Oh my god, you’ve guys grown so much!” He squealed, bringing everyone into a hug. “It’s been so long, oh my god! I can’t stop saying oh my god, oh my god!”

“Jesus Mr. Jeonghan, we’re just as happy as you are.” Chan spoke out, worming his way out of the hug before everyone let go.

“Seungcheol and Jisoo are here too, come in already!” He replied, leaving the door open for the others to waltz in.

Soonyoung looked around, already knowing something was different. The whole place looked richer, much more healthy yet older. Kinda like the teachers who walked in to receive a hug like the other. They all had more defined features and it just warmed his heart with all this nostalgia. ‘I guess we’ve changed too.’

“What made you come and visit us?” Jisoo said, pulling out a table with Seungcheol as Jeonghan got some chairs.

“Junnie, Wonwoo, and Soonyoung graduated today, so we decided to go back to where we all met.” Minghao answered, giving a high five to the graduates.

Another round of cheers were shared while Seungcheol grabbed his phone. “Then let’s get some pizza!” Suddenly the cheers got older.

“You know, I wonder if Mr. Seungcheol is actually older than us.” Wonwoo muttered out, making some of the others giggle.

“Hey, I’m still older than you!” He called out, walking to the other room to order.

“Aaah, this brings back all the memories. You kids were the worst.” Jisoo joked, giving a wink to the other teacher. They all gave grunts and a few laughed but it was really just grunts.

Jun scoffed. “Huh, no way, we’re the best. Right, Hansol?” The other boy laughed, putting up a thumb.

“Hell yeah!” He shouted, putting up his fist as Seungcheol came back from the other room.

“We had a whole show, they loved us.” Soonyoung bragged, flipping the little hair he had.

“Oh oh do you remember the play?” Wonwoo spoke up, snickering. “Jun, how could you fall like that?” The other groaned.

“Excuse you, I was a young actor in the making, we all make mistakes.”

“If you think that’s embarrassing,” Minghao smirked, Mingyu seemingly worried as if he knew what he was talking about. “Wonwoo and Mingyu when they first met, Wonwoo blushed~”

“Someone throw him out!” Wonwoo screamed, shaking his head.

“Awh, is someone embarrassed?” Jun cooed, making Wonwoo pick up a stuff animal and throw it at him.

Hansol laughed quietly before speaking. “Do you remember the time I got sick? Man that was nice.”

“Remember, everyone, that was my idea.” Seungkwan put up his hand, making some roll their eyes.

Hansol blinked. “Wasn’t that Jihoon’s idea?”

The room went silent, some coughs were scattered. The tension grew and it made him feel uncomfortable. He was an old friend yes, and he did leave unexpectedly but this shouldn’t be something weird to talk about. It was this way for a minute or so until Soonyoung crossed his arms, pouting. “Oh my god guys, he’s not dead!” He exclaimed, chuckling. They should relax, reminisce.

He understood they missed him, but like they said a long time, they’ll meet again.

Chan nodded. “Right, we’re being silly. We should be more mature.”

“Wooo~ The youngest is telling us to be mature~” Mingyu teased, poking his rib. The boy squirmed away and soon they were chasing each other around the room. Laughter surrounded the room and soon they were back to their cheery self.

Then after about 40 minutes of sheer laughter and catching up, someone pulled up in a car with a sign that said Boom Boom Pizza. “Oh, pizza’s here!” Seungcheol said, taking out his wallet.

“Hey Mr. Seungcheol, don’t worry, I’ll pay for it!” Soonyoung offered, standing up from his seat.

“No Soonyoung, I couldn’t possibl-”

“It’s okay, Just pay for the next time we stop by.” He smiled, taking out his wallet and strolling towards the door.

He opened the door and was about to speak when he stopped. His eye widened as he thought he saw that same hazy pink. Only it wasn’t, it was a sea of purple. He was out of breath and he couldn’t move as well, just staring at the male before him.

He was shorter than him by a head but still had that same sour expression as usual. His purple hair fit well around his face as it complimented his rosy cheeks. It was a little silly to see him in a uniform, the orange contrasting with hair. It couldn't help but let out a breathy chuckle.

They made eye contact and Soonyoung knew he was staring for too long as his expression turned from bitter to unreadable. That couldn’t be him. His face was a bright pink and he didn’t do much to hide it as he rummaged through his wallet. “Sorry, you jus-”

“Soonyoung.”

He blinked owlishly, staring back at the male. “It is you, oh my god.” He couldn’t help but drop his wallet, covering his mouth with his hands. “I can’t believe it’s you.” Was he tearing up? He couldn’t be.

“Hey, what’s taking you so- Jihoon!”

Chan jumped up from behind Soonyoung, tackling the boy to the ground to hug him. Jihoon screamed, dropping the pizzas in the process. To see the commotion outside, the group left the house only to join Chan in his hugging and crying fest. It was like the day he left, only much happier.

“We missed you so much!” Seungkwan cried, sniffling in the snot. Jihoon laughed with a grunt when they helped him up from the ground.

“I missed you guys too, Jesus, don’t jump me this time.” He responded.

“This time?! There won’t be a next time, you’re staying with us!” Seokmin sobbed, grabbing his arm. Another laugh was heard from him. How he missed his laugh.

Soonyoung smiled sadly. Despite all this happiness, he couldn’t move and hug him like the others. He felt extremely emotional, as if his heart was breaking and mending at the same time. Wonwoo noticed this and smirked.

“Alright, alright,” He called out, getting everyone’s attention. “I know we all are excited to see him but maybe we should leave him alone.” He winked at Soonyoung, pushing the protesting ones back into the building as the others followed quietly behind with the pizza. He was giving him the option to talk to him alone and he was going to make sure to thank him properly.

When the two were left alone once again, Soonyoung finally took a step towards the other. As the air became awkward, he opened his mouth nervously. “How ‘bout we sit..?”

The other smiled softly, taking a seat on the steps in front of the building. He followed him, doing the same thing as he looked at the sky. “It's already dark, huh.” He mentioned, starting the conversation.

Jihoon nodded softly in response before he asked. “So, you dyed your hair, why? Are you rebelling?”

He let out a giggle to his teasing, shaking his head. “I just thought blue went well with pink.”

He could see a hint of pink from his cheeks as the other inspected his purple bangs. “Bad timing.”

Another round of silence came before Jihoon began explaining his story. When he left he cried. More than he’d like to admit. They moved somewhere surprisingly not that far, where he enrolled into a private all boys school. He didn’t have much friends, but the few he had were close. “During high school I got a job, and after graduation I’m planning on going to a university for music.” He finished.

“You were always playing with that piano.” The two laughed at the memory, the shorter nodding once more. “Do you remember the first time we met?”

“Are you still hurting from the blocks?” He joked, making the blue haired boy pout.

“That really hurt, you know!” He cried, smacking him lightly. ‘This was really nice,’ He thought. “I never want this to end. I missed you.” A silence followed and he didn’t know why until he turned to look at the other. Jihoon stared straight at other, awestruck. His cheeks started to burn. “, did I say that out loud?”

The violet haired male nodded quietly before muttering out a soft, ‘I missed you too’. He could feel his heart skip a beat, widening his eyes at his words. Soonyoung smiled extremely bright, linking their arms with the other. “You remember when I gave you that chocolate? And you asked, ‘Why are you trying so hard?’?”

The other nodded one more time, putting his head to rest against his shoulder. “I really, really wanted to be your friend. Like really. I even told Seokmin about it. At first, it was because you were lonelier, but then it was because you turned out to be a great person.”

“Even after I kept insulting you?”

“Especially after.”

“Damn.” He laughed, covering his mouth with his hand as he let go of his arm. “I guess I can say now I really liked the chocolates.” The other cheered, raising his fist as the other stood up.

“I have to go, my boss is going to murder me.” He said, picking up his wallet and handing it back to him. Soonyoung blinked owlishly, taking the wallet as he jumped up.

“Wait, we-” He hesitated, rubbing the back of his neck. “We gotta stay in contact..”

“Jun has my number.”

“Wait what.”

“Seriously, Minghao is like a ninja. He took my phone while we were all hugging and handed it to him.” He scoffed, rolling his eyes while muttering a, ‘I need a password..’

He laughed awkwardly, nodding. “Yeah, true. I’ll see you later then?” A flashed appeared in his mind of a black window and crying children in his ears. ‘He was crying too.’ He thought before he was brought back to reality, faced with a smiling Jihoon. ‘A lot has changed.’

“Yeah. I’ll see you later.”
