The next morning Junghwan woke up ,unsure if the night before was a dream,he half wanted to call Hana and ask but he realized hat he was too scared to call her,plus she could be busy ....or something.He then remembered that he had placed a photo of them in his wallet,he quickly took out his wallet and stared at the only proof he had of last night.

He went down for breakfast,there was no one at home,it had been so,for the last one week. Since Yoona had preschool,he was alone at home. It's not like he wasted his holidays,he studied,he also visited all of his friends. He wasn't sure what to do that day,his mind was stuck on one person .

Hana was staring at her phone,deciding whether or not to call him,it was too stressful so she just gave up and went to school.She wasn't really able to concentrate on teaching because her thoughts kept going back to him.Her eyes kept drifting to the ring on her finger.After going home,she reconsidered calling him.

she started to question whether she really liked him. I mean they'd only known each other for about a month,but then she could feel her heart beating fast when she thought about him so,she decided that she definitely had feelings for him.

She was not a good secret keeper,it was hard to keep shut,when she's just had her first kiss.Hana then started worrying,was it a one time thing,did he mean to do it,was it an accident.....all of these thoughts piled up inside her. She suddenly got a call on her phone.

Unfortunately it was Bora.

"Hey,I need to go for my checkup ,and sunwoo is coming with me,so today evening can you watch over Yoona?" she asked

She was so exited for Bora,she was told quite a while ago of her pregnancy and had to try really hard to keep it a secret from sunwoo and junghwan.

"yeah sure,but isn't junghwan at home?can't he look after her?" she asked

"He's apparently got a date tonight" replied Bora

Hana's heart sank. It was too good to be true,he probably did do it accidentally ,of course he didn't like her. She decided that she wouldn't let that affect her,she tried to act as calm as possible  

"ok,I'll be there" she said. She cut the call,and just sat there looking into space. She almost cried,but stopped herself. She had to be strong,after all they'd only known each other for a month.

She went to Bora's house,and as expected there was no Junghwan. She tried to hide her disappointment. After Bora left,she decided to distract herself by playing games with Yoona. They played hide and seek,and then started to watch a movie.

Her phone started ringing,she picked it up

"Hello?" she asked

"Hey,where are you?" asked Junghwan through the phone

Hana tried to control her sadness and anger

"Why do you care?" she asked

"come out" he ordered

"why did your date leave?" she asked getting angry

"huh? what date?" he asked,clearly confused

"Bora told me you have a date,and that's why you can't watch over Yoona tonight" she replied

There was silence on the other line "so you're at sunwoo's right now ?" He asked irritated 

"yes why?" she questioned

"WHY? YOU IDIOT, you were my date,I'm outside your house" He said angrily 

"oh" that's all she could say,she was kind of happy that she was his date though

"oh,that's all you've got,even if Bora told you,why wouldn't you call me and ask?" he asked

"I didn't want to disturb you,and if you were coming to my house,you should've called me" she shouted back.

"ugh,I give up" he said and cut the phone

Yoona stared at Hana.

"who was that, unni?" she asked

"ummm......no one" Hana mumbled.

About ten minutes into the movie,she heard the bell ring,she went out to open the door,expecting sunwoo and Bora.

However,she was face to face, with Junghwan.Who was clearly not impressed

"hey,you're back" she said,trying to act like nothing happened

Junghwan walked inside and sat on the sofa next to Yoona. Hana felt guilty,it was cold and he had to wait outside her house. She then went and sat next to him. Yoona was eyeing them suspiciously .

Hana poked him and mouthed a sorry. Junghwan just frowned at her. She tried to get his attention throughout the movie,but he wouldn't even look at her.

She noticed that Yoona had drifted off,she slowly turned off the Tv,Junghwan just gave her a questioning look,she pointed at Yoona,she slowly lifted her up and took her to her room,junghwan followed her. After Hana left yoona she went back down,she poured out two cups of coffee,and gave one to junghwan.

They sat on the couch and drank from their cups .

"I'm sorry" said Hana breaking the silence.

"It's not your fault entirely " he replied looking at her

"I know,it's just that I wasn't sure if you really even liked me or that kiss was mistake, No one's ever liked me before,so why would you,I'm not too pretty,or smart...." Hana rambled on

Junghwan stopped her by planting a small peck on her lips. "when you make a mistake twice it becomes a choice" he said grinning at her.

"even if you don't like me,I like you" continued Hana

"I do like you,quite a lot actually. Even in the future,I may not say it often,but you should know,I really like you" he said coolly 

"in the future.....with me?" Hana questioned

"no,with your aunt" said junghwan sarcastically "of course with you"

Hana realized that it would be nearly impossible to get Junghwan to actually ask her to be his girlfriend,but in a way she was satisfied with what he said.

They continued drinking their coffees in silence. Hana turned the TV back on,and they watched some comedy show for a while.

After a while Hana fell asleep. Junghwan carried her to his room,and placed her on his bed. He was tempted to lie down beside her,but decided that it was wrong to do that. He was about to go but he couldn't help but stare at Hana.

"I'm not too pretty" he remembered Hana saying those words. He thought that she must have lost her mind,she looked gorgeous,he saw a strand of her hair fall in front of her face,he frowned at put the strand back,his hands shivered at the touch of her skin,and he decided to leave the room before he did something stupid like kiss her in her sleep.

After Junghwan left,Hana opened one eye and smiled,then she cuddled into the blanket and fell asleep.

By the time Junghwan got down,Sunwoo and Bora had already unlocked the door with their key and walked in.

"why are you guys so late" asked Junghwan

"well there was huge line outside the doctor's room,he's a very in demand doctor,plus after that we ran into Sunwoo's friend,so we had dinner with them " answered Bora

"how was your date?" asked sunwoo.

"great" said junghwan,going up the stairs

as he climbed up,he heard Bora questioning where Hana was

He opened his door slowly,hoping to not wake Hana up,he took a pillow and bed sheet,and slept on the floor,he was about to fall asleep when Hana suddenly jerked up,though the light were off,he could almost make out what she was doing,she looked around,obviously confused,then saw junghwan on the floor.

"Junghwan? wake up!" she sort of whispered shouted

"what?" He mumbled

"don't sleep on the floor,it's cold today" she said quietly 

"If I sleep downstairs,Bora and sunwoo will see me in the morning,so shut up and go to sleep" he ordered

"you can sleep on the bed" she suggested

"you're really forward" teased Junghwan

"that's not what I meant, I just felt like it was unfair. If you want I can sleep on the floor"   she said

"shut up" he said and got up and lied down on the bed.

Hana was going to say something

"if you say another word about lying on the floor, I'll kick you out of the room" he groaned.

"I just wanted to ask if you have an extra pillow" she continued

"why?" he said sleepily

"I tend to move...when I sleep" she said

after about two hours Junghwan realised that 'move' was an understatement .

her legs and arms were wrapped around him for a few minutes,then she'd kick him and steal the blanket,after a while she calmed down and was sleeping facing his back, he slowly reached for her hand and placed it along his back. He like being hugged by her,then he too drifted off to sleep

At eight in the morning,someone started banging the door very loudly.

"Jungpa wake up,you have take me to preschool" screamed Hana

"hmm"jungpal woke up next to Hana,her eyes were still closed,she looked so calm ,peaceful....and beautiful. Hana was in his bedroom...he thought smiling.

Then panic washed over his face,Hana was in his bedroom.

He quickly woke her up

"Ya! hurry up,go hide in the bathroom" he said to her

Hana scurried into the bathroom. While Junghwan went outside.

"yes yoona,I'll drop you ,let me freshen up first" he said closing the door.He then knocked on the bathroom door.Hana opened the door,she was brushing her teeth.

"where did you get the brush?" he asked confused.

I've stayed over here before,so Bora always keeps an extra brush on the upper most shelf for me,since this is the guest room's bathroom.

Junghwan too took out his brush and started brushing his teeth. Both of them were looking into the mirror.

"Luckily today I need to got to school after lunch,we have a parent teacher's meeting,so that gives me plenty of time to go home and change" she said in a muffled voice.

After they finished brushing,Junghwan went to shower,ofcourse Hana was pushed outside the bathroom.

"ok,I'll be going" he said before leaving the room,she smiled at him.

Walking down the stairs he had a grin on his face. He could get used to it .

"hey join us for breakfast" said sunwoo

"it's ok I'll have it after dropping yoona " he said running outside with yoona,he took his car and dropped her to school. By the time he returned sunwoo and Bora were leaving.

Before Bora left she whispered in to his ear "next time Hana stays over,tell her to not leave her shoes outside "

Of course she knew,Bora had great observation skills,unlike sunwoo whose observation skills only existed when it came to Bora.

"Bora knows you staid here" said junghwan to Hana

"oh no,she's going to bombard me with questions tonight " said Hana panicking 

"let's have breakfast" suggested junghwan.

They went down to have breakfast,they sat with an awkward silence. So Hana the Tv. They were playing some romantic comedy,it wouldn't be as awkward if the actors weren't eating each others faces off.

Hana took a quick peek at Junghwan's face. He was turning red. She couldn't help but .

"are you blushing?" she asked hiding a giggle

"huh? WHAT? no" he said denying it.

"omo,omo,you are blushing,so cute" she said moving closer to him.

Junghwan was now very uncomfortable,Hana was basically poking his red cheek. Then her hand froze. He wondered what she was going to do. Her hands went down his neck,and reached his arm.

And then she started to tickle him,

"ya,ya! stop it" he said trying to not laugh

"oh ,I am going to succeed in making you laugh.........again" she said with a determined look.

"you always do this,I already told you its cheating" said junghwan struggling to get words out of his mouth,he was too busy laughing. And then he got an idea. He held one of her hand and then pinned her down on the couch,so that he was hovering on top of her. 

Suddenly the room fell silent. Junghwan was left staring into her eyes. He leaned in,and closed his eyes,when the bell suddenly rang and Hana pushed him off the couch.

"ow,why did you do that" he asked

she didn't respond,she ran to the door to open it.And there was Dongryong,obviously not expecting to see her there.

"Hana right? I saw you in the restaurant last time"

"yes,argh I'm so embarrassed,that wasn't my best day" she said recalling the day,she had to be carried into the restaurant .

"ah,it's okay,I've done worse" said Dongryong.

"oh sorry,come in" she said inviting him in

Junghwan was sitting on the couch,trying to act cool.

"so are you both alone at home" asked Dongryong.

"yes,I...was...umm about to go,I came to drop something off" said Hana nervously

"ok,I'll get going now" she continued 

Junghwan gave her a look,asking her to stay.

"No,since you're here anyway,we should hang out" said Dongryong obviously not believing her .

"ok,I'll go get you some coffee" said Hana hurrying off into the kitchen

"what are you doing here?" whispered Junghwan angrily 

"what do you mean? we agreed to meet today" said Dongryong trying to remind Junghwan

"why? did I interrupt something" continued Dongryong with a snicker.

Junghwan just went back to watching the TV.In a few minutes Hana came out with a cup of coffee.

"thank you" said Dongryong sipping the coffee.

Hana sat on the sofa, next to Junghwan,Junghwan reached for her hand but she quickly pulled away giving him a stern look.

Hana looked at the clock and gasped."oh no,it's almost noon,I'm late" she said running to the door

"late for what?" asked Junghwan chasing after her.

"unlike some of us,I have to work" she said going outside,Junghwan followed her closing the door.

"when will you be back?" he asked

"here? I don't know,next week?" she replied

"then......when do we we meet?" he asked quickly trying to sound cool

"If you want you can come pick me up from the school,you already know the address" she said shyly 

"really?okay, I'll get the bike okay? I'll be there at like four,if you want me to come earlier just call..." he said rambling on.

Hana pecked his cheeks. 

"ok,now go back inside" she said walking away.

Junghwan smiled and walked inside.

Dongryong was sitting on the couch,trying to act busy.

"I saw you looking through the window" said Junghwan 

"when were you going to tell me,you idiot? after you get married?" he asked

"well,we just got together two days ago,so it hasn't been so long" continued Junghwan not taking his eyes off the television .

"wahh Jungpal! you've really grown up" said Dongryong

"By the way have you told her yet?" asked Dongryong

"about what?" 

"about how you are going on a mission for one year,and won't be getting more than ten days off next year" continued Dongryong

"Not yet"

"what if she breaks up with you?"

"she won't" 

At around 3:30 Dongryong finally left.Junghwan rushed to Hana's school.He saw her inside and decided not to disturb her,instead he called her,while waiting outside

"I'm outside come out now" he said

"ok,come inside for a few minutes,I'll take atleast ten minutes to finish up" she replied

"are you sure?" he asked

"yes" she replied confidently

He walked in and saw her sitting with a group of teachers,whispers started going around,everyone enquiring who the attractive young man is, Hana walked towards him and held his hand and dragged to a seat,

"sit here,a few more parents want to talk to me" she said

He watched as she played with the little kids and talked to the parents,looking at her face, it looked like she was the happiest person in the world.

Suddenly the door opened and yet again whispers started going around,Junghwan looked away from Hana to the now opened door. There was another young man,quite handsome who walked in.

Was it a common occurrence at this kindergarten for young men to walk in and for the female teachers to swoon at them.No,it wasn't.

But this young man was quite popular among the teachers as almost every single one of their eyes were glued to him,except Hana's.

Finally the parents who Hana was talking to left,however they were replaced by the young man,who gave her a charming smile.

"oh Changmin oppa,wait a second,so hyun was waiting for you" she said going over to a group of kids and picking up a little girl

oppa? Why was Hana calling him that,was it even allowed for her to call her student's guardians by their names,junghwan wondered

Junghwan eavesdropped on their conversation.

"so how has my niece been doing at school?" he asked the little girl

The little girl smiled at him,"very well"

"yes it's true ,she's been doing very well,she's one of the brightest kids in class" said Hana smiling brightly.

"well that's what I expected,so how are you Hana?" he asked

They were not even using formal speech ,Junghwan was slightly jealous

"I'm great, Oppa,how's your job?" she asked

Again that word 'oppa'  how come she never calls me that,wondered Junghwan

"you know,the usual,working at the the bank isn't the most interesting job,but my day could become more interesting if you'd join both of us for coffee " said the young man in a teasing voice

 "sorry,I've got plans today" she said looking at Junghwan and giving him a reassuring smile

 

"fine,fine,but come visit us sometime,my parents have been asking about you and hyun woo" he said getting up

 

After he left Hana went to Junghwan and both of them walked outside.

"so who was he" asked Junghwan

"who? chang min oppa?he's an old friend,his niece is my student" she replied

"oh,did he ask you out" asked junghwan

"what no,he was just teasing me. We practically grew up together,and he's very close to my younger brother,Hyun woo" she continued

"you have a younger brother?" asked Junghwan

"ya,he's sixteen" she said

"why do you call him oppa?" he asked

"Because that's what I've always called him"she said

"why don't you call me something like that" he asked 

"why? are you jealous?" she asked delighted

"what no,jealous,me? ya have you gone crazy?why are you so happy" he asked looking at her

"because you're jealous,you must really like me" she said.

"think whatever you want" he said getting on the bike.

she held on to him tight. On the way there she got a call

"omma,what happened?" she asked

"dinner?...........why? hyun woo?? really ?...that kid is crazy he's only sixteen.........fine,I'll be there" she said

"was it your mom?" asked Junghwan

"yes,she wanted me to come for dinner,she said my brother's coming,with his girlfriend" she continued

"oh..I see,so are you saying I should come?" he asked

"what no,I mean yes,I mean come if you want to" she stuttered 

"I'll be there" said Junghwan

"okay so next saturday?" she continued

junghwan nodded in agreement 

She snuggled closer to him,and hugged him more while he rode the bike. Hana couldn't help but remember how when she was young,she really wanted to meet her soulmate and promised to never let him go after finding him,and that was exactly what she was doing,not letting go.

The next week went by fast,Hana and Junghwan met up for dates nearly every day. They learned a lot about each other. Hana learned that Junghwan could play soccer,and that he was a great student. Junghwan learned that Hana was a talented ice skater,and that she fell sick when she ate ice cream. He discovered the latter when he got her ice cream during a date and spend the next day looking after her at her house. They managed to keep their relationship a secret. So far only Dongryong and Bora knew of it.

When saturday arrived Junghwan and Hana got on a bus and headed to her parent's house. While on the bus Hana remembered how she met Junghwan for the first time in the bus.

"well you had seen me before,in the restaurant " said Junghwan

"oh yeah,so the bus was when you first met me"

"I always did have bad luck when it came to buses" he said teasing her.

She playfully poked his arm "bad luck? me? You are lucky that we're on a bus and I can't strangle you " she said.

They got to the house in about an hour.

They rang the bell and an older woman opened the door.

"Hana! you're here,come in" she said welcoming them

"Hi,and who are you?" she asked Junghwan

"my name is Kim junghwan,I work in the airforce" he said slightly bowing his head

"wow! such great manners my husband will surely like you" she said

Turns out Hana's dad was very different from Hana or her mom,he was quiet and gentle ,not crazy and goofy like the females in the family,he immediately took a liking to Junghwan

After a while a teenager walked into the house with a young girl.

Junghwan and Hana's eyes widened in shock

"jin joo?" they both exclaimed 

"hana unni,Junghwan oppa?" she gasped

After they recovered from their shock,Hana opened

"Junghwan this is my brother Hyun woo" she said

Junghwan greeted him.

As they took a seat, he finally started talking

"ya jin joo? do your parents know about this?" he asked 

"not yet" she replied

"you're only sixteen ,and you're dating" Junghwan continued

"so? sunwoo oppa liked Bora unni when he was sixteen" she said

"wow,you have really gone crazy" continued Junghwan,looking at the young girl with medium length black hair,she had grown up to be a beautiful young girl

"By the way what are you doing here with Hana unni?" she asked

Now Junghwan was in the spotlight

"Do your parents know about this" she asked repeating the question

"ya! I'm older than you,don't ask me questions"

"woah,does this mean we'll all be related,If I marry hyun woo and if you marry Hana unni,we'll be in laws right" she said mischievously

"marriage?you're only sixteen" said Junghwan 

"well you're twenty-nine,maybe marriage isn't a bad idea for you" said Jin joo.

It was hard to believe that the witty girl was sunwoo's sister,she was far more similar to Bora,than sunwoo

The hardest part for Junghwan was to imagine Jinjoo dating,she was so young,and with a blink of an eye she had grown up.It was hard to imagine how much time had passed. All of his friends had grown up,most of them were either married or going to get married,they had all  matured.

 

Suddenly he felt nostalgic,remembering the summers of his youth.The year 1988 was surely a great time to be young,he thought to himself. He looked into Hana's eyes,and wondered how she was as an eighteen year old,did she sleep with slightly open, did she talk to herself,and had they ever crossed paths?
