The four friends sang happy birthday to Yoona,while she cut the cake . She gave the first bite to Bora,then sun woo and then dividing the last into two,she gave both junghwan and Ha na a piece at the same time.

"Yoona,I've known you for longer" said junghwan

"says who? I was there when she was born" replied Ha na

"hey will you two stop fighting,by the way it seems like you two have already introduced yourselves to each other."

"Junghwan ,actually Ha na is right,she was there when yoona was born,she was the one who brought Bora to the hospital" said sun woo

Junghwan got a recollection of a phone call from sun woo after yoona's birth,explaining the premature birth of yoona.

Bora was walking home from work,she was starting her maternity leave that day,the baby was due in two weeks,suddenly her water broke ,and the person who got her to the hospital was some random woman. That random woman was Hana. After that she and Bora became good friends.

She also came to Bora's house to babysit/teach Yoona during the school holidays. Ha na is a pre school teacher,and Bora felt that it's never too early for her daughter to learn.

So whenever Ha na had her holidays,she spent time with yoona.

"oh so you're that random woman who got Bora to the hospital?"he asked

"yes,and who are you ? jungpa?" she asked.

"This is my childhood friend Junghwan,we all grew up in the same neighborhood,he works in the air force ." replied sun woo proudly 

"he's going to stay with us for three months" replied Bora

"Unni,so then is he going to baby sit Yoona too?" asked Ha na.

"No..No,don't think you can escape that easily Ha na,you'll still have to come here and teach yoona too."Bo ra replied sternly.

"Ya!,am I your servant or your friend who's kind enough to help you?" asked ha na ,giving a fake angry face.

"Both" replied Bora giving a cunning smile.

After a while Bora took Hana away to to talk about her junior who was annoying her at work

Junghwan whispered to sun woo as they left "did you notice that ring?"

"she's been wearing that since the first time I met her,don't worry she's not engaged" said sun woo smirking.

"what do you mean by that,any way you idiot doesn't her ring look like that ring I used to have?" asked junghwan irritated

"you think I remember how your ring from around five years ago looked?" asked sun woo.Which was a valid point considering how the ring was supposed to be for a 'joke'

"forget it" replied junghwan.

After a while Hana wen home. Junghwan ,Bora,sunwoo and yoona had dinner,cooked by bora.Junghwan didn't dare to make any comments on the food. He was lucky that Bora cooked dinner,he wasn't going to test her,even though the food was a bit too salty. And looking at sunwoo's face,it looked like Bora was a masterchef who could never make a mistake. So junghwan quietly ate the food and went to bed 

Monday morning he woke up to the sound of loud music. By music he meant nursery rhymes.

And he could hear two voices screaming 'mary had a little lamb' .He tried to cover his ears with a pillow and sleep,but he eventually got up. It wan ten,he was shocked that he woke up so late,being a military man,he was used to waking up early. He got dressed and washed up. Half of him wanted to go back to bed,while the other half was so hungry that he could eat an ox.

He rushed downstairs to eat breakfast . Downstairs he saw a fully grown woman dancing and singing along to nursery rhymes.

how immature,he thought to himself.

he took out some cereal and milk and started eating breakfast .

Finally , the two tone deaf singers saw him.

"jung pa,you want to join us?" asked Ha na with excitement

"my name is jung hwan,and good to see that you're already speaking informally with me" said jung hwan monotonously 

"since we're going to see each other every day for the next one month,its better that we drop the formalities now jung pa" she said 

"one month? dont you have to do anything else in during your hoidays?" he asked

"I love spending time with kids. Plus most of my other friends are working" she replied.It was true. Most office jobs didn't give too many long holidays,and strangely most of hana's friends had office jobs

"and your boyfriend would be fine with you spending one month in a house with another guy"

"no,he's cool with it,he trusts me,the only problem...." she continued 

for a moment jung hwan's heart sunk. It didn't make any sense,he hardly knew the girl,he thinks she's weird and goofy,yet he was disappointed.

"the only problem is that he doesn't exist" she replied with a slight laugh.

(enter goat sound)

" I have a great sense of humor,you'll slowly find out " she said.

junghwan just shook his head in disbelief .

"yoona where's the jump rope?yelled Ha na

"aren't you supposed to teach her school stuff?" asked JH.

"it's morning exercise" she replied "good for your body"

"isn't she too young to jump rope?" he asked slowly

"no one's too young to have fun" she replied 

when one says they're going to jump rope,you'd assume that they could actually jump roope,but this was not the case in that house

Yoona couldn't really jump rope too well. She'd jump over the rope twice then fall then try again. Ha na wasn't too great either,she would jump over the rope max ten times before tripping and falling.

"that's not how you do it" said junghwan after seeing her fall for the hundredth time. 

"really,then you do it,'jungpa' " she said handing the rope to him.Expecting him to fail

He started jumping,he almost crossed a hundred.when Ha na stopped him.

"fine we get it,now teach us" demanded Hana

"there's nothing to learn it's all about hand eye coordination" he said

"hand eye corhgysonn,teach us that" said yoona

jung hwan and ha na laughed at her pronunciation of the word. she was adorable,unlike her mother she didn't have a short temper.

"Ok here's how we do it, Ha na you stand on one side and hold the rope ,while I'll stand on the other side and hold it. Yoona,you jump in the middle" ordered junghwan.

they did as he said,and finally 'they'  were jumping rope. She could see pure joy in his eyes,and her heart fluttered when she saw his smile but decided to ignore it. It wasn't like her to like someone she's just met. She loved the idea of a slow blooming romance,plus it wasn't like he was ever going to like her. Or so she thought.

after a while all three of them where exhausted . so hana took yoona to clean up 

It was also time for lunch. Ha na cooked lunch while junghwan and yoona watched TV. Junghwan then finally remembered that he had promised to meet some of his friends.

After a while Ha na decided to teach yoona for a while.By the time junghwan came back both hana and yoona were taking a nap on the sofa.

"Hana?" he whispered ,to make sure that she was asleep.He then carried Yoona to her room.He didn't know what to do with Hana so he just got her a blanket.

He took out one of his books(not the steamy ones he used to read) and sat on the sofa,right next to Hana.Luckily she was short and had bent her legs,leaving enough space for him to sit.After a while he too fell asleep

A few hours later, unknown to them the front door opened

"Yoona,Hana I'm home" yelled Bora. she was going run to her room to look for them,but stopped on her way. She saw a very strange sight in front of her. Junghwan's head was on Hana's legs and his legs were popping out of the sofa. Bora almost yelled at them,but decided to take a silent picture and use it to blackmail them later.As she took the photo junghwan woke up. He was shocked and a bit confused on how he got there so he gave a weird look to Bora and ran to the guest room.Bora then left to look for yoona,who was still sleeping in her room.

After a while Hana too woke up,Bora was watching the Tv sitting next to her. 

"woah you are really not a light sleeper you know?" she said

"I know,how long was I out?" she asked

"I don't know,ask junghwan he should know" said Bora in a teasing voice

"what?" asked Hana confused at the statement 

"he was sleeping next to you" said Bora "and I have proof" she said showing the picture 

"I wouldn't call it sleeping next to me,aww Bora you got me a blanket" she replied.

"I didn't do it" replied Bora nonchalantly .

"oh"she said smiling to herself,she knew who did it

"anyway,I need to get going for my job" said Hana picking up her things

"you sure you don't want me to drop you?" asked Bora

"yeah,I'm old enough to go to places alone you know"replied Hana confidently

going to the place wasn't what she was worried about,she hated coming back at 11 in the night. It kind of scared her to walk alone at night. Not that she would ever admit it to Bora. 

Meanwhile junghwan went to take a shower,before coming down he mentally prepared himself for the humiliation he was going to have to face from Bora,Ha na probably saw the picture Bora took too,double humiliation .

When he went down all he saw was Bora watching the Tv

he went and quietly sat next to her. Waiting for Hana to come. She probably went to the kitchen or to the washroom he thought . after half an hour he grew a bit anxious . 

He finally decided to ask Bora

"so....." he started

Bora looked at him with a blank expression,which kind of scared him.

"when is sunwoo coming home?" he asked quickly

"at around 7"she replied coolly 

"oh ....and when will your friend leave?" he asked trying to sound as cool as possible

Bora understood what he was trying to do "she already left,why are you already in love with her?"she asked smirking

"pffft! No way. Me,her, are you kidding me, she's not even my type .I just wanted to know,general knowledge and all.........wait she left? it's like 6,doesn't she eat dinner with you guys or something" He replied

"no,she eats from where she works part time" replied Bora

"she works part time? from till what time?" he asked

Bora gave his a suspicious look "till 11" she replied

"WHAT? that late,does she at least have a car?"he asked

"nope she walks home, she has this strange fear of cars ,trust me I've tried to get her to let me pick her up,but she won't let me do that. She does't want to cause anyone 'trouble'  " said Bora.

Jnghwan wanted to ask more,but decided asking Bora was dangerous. Plus why did he care anyway . She'd be fine. And he's only known this weird girl for two days. 

He went back to his room until sunwoo got back.

After sunwoo got back,Junghwan noticed that Bora was avoiding him. Sunwoo tried multiple times to talk to her,but she just went to her room.

So he decided to just go for drinks with junghwan.they entered a small stall and sat down . They had a few drinks of soju

"I don't know what's happening,she's just stopped talking to me" said sunwoo sadly

"don't worry she's probably just stressed about work or something" replied junghwan thoughtfully

"you should be happy.....you married her and have a child with her,wasn't this your dream,sine you were like 16 or something?" asked junghwan

"I am happy,I feel like the happiest man in the world,and I know she loves me,but I just wish we could go back to how we were when were dating,we got to spend so much of time alone back then even though we didn't live in the same time. Now a days either she's busy or I am,and when we're not we have to look after Yoona. Not that I don't love my daughter,I can't imagine one day without yoona,but sometimes I just miss Bora" he replied sighing 

"I'm sure you guys will think of something..." junghwan said,thinking of a way to change the subject.

"so are there any good restaurants here?"asked junghwan,hoping that Hana works at some restaurant and sunwoo would bring it up

"Hana's aunt's restaurant is pretty good " said sunwoo falling for the trap junghwan had carefully set.

"oh...where is it?"asked junghwan

"where is it?"repeated sunwoo

" I should eat dinner outside today,you should spend more time with Bora" replied jughwan

sunwoo tried to protest but realised it was useless,junghwan was extremely stubborn,so he just gave him the address .

He walked in,but didn't see her. Suddenly she came out of the kitchen .He hid behind the menu. He hoped that she didn't see him,after a while he started peeking at her. She was smiling and laughing as she waited the tables. And at some point she brought a cake while singing happy birthday . It was impossible not to like her.

Junghwan smiled,and kept staring,he didn't notice that an older lady had come to him to ask for his order

"umm...i don't want anything" said junghwan

"sorry young man,you have to buy something to sit here and stare at that waitress, whom you don't even know." she said 

"I do know her,she's ...........my friend" He said.

"oh you're her friend,that's great finally she's started going out. Ya! Ha na,come here" she called

"we're not....." junghwan wanted to correct her,but by then Hana had already arrived

"oh! jungpa,what brings you here?" she asked smiling at him

"I'll go get your handsome boyfriend something to eat,you two just sit here and talk " she said,winking at Hana

"don't take her seriously,she's my aunt ,she's been in love with the idea of me getting married. And she thinks every guy is a candidate" said hana sighing 

"By the way,are you here to see me jungpa" she continued

"NO. I just heard this place has nice food" He replied

"ok what would you like to order?" she asked

"fried chicken" he said

after a few minutes he got his chicken...and hana ran to the next table. After a while he could hear her aunt pushing her towards him and whispering "go sit with him,you haven't had dinner"

"no I can't,let him just eat in peace" she whispered back.

"Ha na go ,I'll bring you some kimchi" she said pushing Hana at junghwan.

He slowly took out a seat. she smiled at him,he didn't even look up.

after hana's kimchi arrived,she started talking. on and on. She didn't seem to mind that junghwan didn't give much of a response. She mainly talked about sunwoo and bora and how nice they were and all the fun they had.

Junghwan secretly liked listening to her. It made him feel ...less lonely.Plus the way her face and hands moved were very interesting,almost like she was acting out everything she said.

He waited till she finished food.Her aunt then subtly asked her to go home with him . To be polite he offered to drop her home anyway. So she agreed.

They walked out of the restaurant

"it's okay,you can go home now,my house is around here,I can walk there myself" she said

"stop making a fuss,I'll just drop you" he replied.

"I don't like travelling in cars at night"she replied quietly 

"why?" he asked

"woah,jungpa,is so interested I see" she replied teasing.she started walking i the direction of her house and junghwan followed her she was walking home with him,but she was so engrossed in the conversation that she didn't even notice.

"I just don't" she continued

junghwan decided not to ask any more questions. 

"you know my name is junghwan right"he said for the hundredth time

"ya,I know. But jungpa sounds cuter" she replied

"my friends called me jungpal,yoona just forgets the 'l' " he said

"I'll still call you jungpa" she said smiling sweetly at him

"junghwan is stern and cool,and that's what you want people to think you are. But inside you're like jungpa childish and really caring" she continued

he hid his smile.

"I know,my observation skills are great " she said boastfully 

"I like how you turn everything into a compliment about you" he added sarcastically ,but couldn't help but laugh a bit

"I told you my sense of humor is great too. "she laughed and and replied

He showed her an expressionless face just to prove her wrong.

"ok let's play a game. I'll try to make you laugh,if you laugh I win,if you don't you win" she said excitedly .

junghwan didn't react. They were walking on a empty road,and she was kind of leading the way.

she first started by making silly faces

"I think it's an improvement"he said, looking at one of the weird faces she made.

she then tried to crack jokes. None of the worked.

"oh my god this is impossible. You're just as bad as Bora" she said exhausted.

and then she tickled him.

"hey,you can't tickle me,that's not fair,do you want to die?" He shouted while laughing

"finally junpa the great has responded" she said with a satisfied smile.

They finally reached home."thanks for walking me here." she muttered

"I wasn't walking you,I was just exploring the neighborhood"he stated

"ya...ok sure" she said,obviously not convinced. She walked into her house 

"thank you,walk back safely!"

she shouted to him from inside the house

He couldn't help but feel happy. He didn't just feel happy,he felt warm.

 I just want to give the character of junghwan a happy ending,and maybe i'm a bit biased . But how can you not love him.So I hope the character I created will be a good match for him.
