“Winwin ! Wake up !”
“Hmmm !” The younger whined in his pillow.
“Winwin !” Kun shook him.
“No !”
He sighed. That was one of those Mondays which he had to come in and wake the younger up. Winwin lived alone but he had given him a double of his keys. ‘Just in case.’, he had said at the time. Kun hadn’t seen which case he was talking about but it turned out to be more useful than planned at first.
“Get up, now !” Kun bended over the bed to shake him again.
Winwin suddenly encircled his waist with his arms and pulled him on the mattress beside him.
“Ah !” The older gasped. “Let me go !”
He tried to free himself but couldn’t, the other’s arms preventing him from moving.
Winwin tightened his hold on him. “Five more minutes.”
Kun huffed. “Winwin, no !”
He nudged him in the ribs, the younger gasped in pain and Kun quickly stood up, a little flustered.
“Okay enough. Get dressed, we gotta go !”
Winwin grunted but eventually stood up, only wearing his boxers. “Wait, why are you even here ?”
“Don’t you remember ?” Kun looked away and threw clothes at him. “I’m bringing you to the doctor and it’s in less than an hour.”
Winwin huffed while putting on his T-shirt. “I already told you it wasn’t necessary.”
“You’ve been limping for a month, so yes, that’s what I call necessary.” Kun exclaimed.
“It’s not that serious !”
“Winwin… You haven’t been to training for almost two weeks, if you don’t do something about it, your coach and your parents will be mad !”
Winwin rolled his eyes after pulling on his jeans. “I said it wasn’t that serious.”
Kun shook his head in disbelief as the other went to the bathroom. This was the answer he dreaded: it had already been a month since that night he had fought with that dude and Winwin’s parents still didn’t know he had hurt his knee.
Winwin’s father was a retired professional soccer player. He had pushed his son in the same path which resulted in him playing since he was 6. He currently played in their college team and was destined to join a professional club next year. But they didn’t really talk about it together because Winwin disliked talking about the future, brushing off the subject with sentences as common as ‘I’m only 19, there’s no need to rush.’ And so on.
“Let me remind you the coach is the one who told me to rest. It’s not like I’m the only player on the team anyway.” Winwin said when he came back.
“Yeah, whatever.” Kun sighed. “Come on, let’s go.”
“I’m not going…”
“Winwin, don’t be a child !” Kun grabbed him by the hand. “We’re getting to my car !”
Winwin huffed loudly but eventually followed him to the lift. Kun hated to act like this with him, but it was not so much for his friend’s soccer career than for his health that he insisted so much.
“I could’ve driven.” Winwin commented.
“How ? You can’t bend your knee.” Kun cocked his eyebrow while focusing on the road.
“Yes I can. Just not as much as before.” Winwin muttered while glancing outside the window.
Kun hummed, not buying it.
Winwin suddenly turned back to him and put his hand on his thigh. “We should go eat something, I’m starving.”
“If you had woken up earlier, I would’ve taken you to breakfast but now it’s your loss.” Kun scoffed.
“Oh, I’ll treat you for lunch after that then.” Winwin concluded.
“Yeah, after.”
“Happy ?” Winwin huffed as they got out of the building after his medical appointment. “Now let’s go get lunch !”
Kun shook his head. Hadn’t he heard the doctor ?
“You’ll have to see a specialist for your knee.”
“Yeah, whatever.” Winwin grabbed his hand and led him to the car, his limp noticeable.
This was worrying Kun a lot. He had trouble believing his friend had been able to play soccer for more than two weeks with the current state of his leg. Truthfully, he felt relieved the coach had forced Winwin to rest because it hurt him to watch the younger play: he had seemed in so much pain.
“Kun, stop worrying, I’m fine.”
He snapped out of it at his friend’s words. “Hm hm, sure…”
“You don’t have class today ?” Winwin asked before biting into his burger.
“No, tomorrow.” Kun shrugged while handing him his drink.
Winwin took a sip through the straw. “But you have your finals, right ?”
“Yes… Every day until the end of the week.” Kun sighed. “I need to study tonight.”
“Do we see the others this weekend then ?” Winwin asked.
“I don’t know, I think I’m going to my parents this weekend.” The older answered.
He was about to add something else when Winwin’s phone rang.
The younger furrowed his eyebrows when he saw the name that appeared on the screen. Kun glanced at it : ‘Dad’.
“Hey Dad. Hm hm..?”
He glanced at Kun.
“Yes ? This weekend ..? Okay.”
His frown deepened.
“Yeah… Yeah, I’ll be there. Hm hm…”
He rolled his eyes slightly.
“Okay. Bye Dad.”
He hung up and threw his phone on the table. Kun flinched at the gesture.
“Seems like I’m also going to my parents this weekend.” His frown hadn’t left his face.
“Well, it’s been almost two months since you’ve last seen them… For Christmas..?” Kun commented.
“I know…” Winwin said in a whiny voice. “I’m gonna have to explain what happened to my knee.”
Kun snorted. “Should’ve told them earlier.”
“I didn’t know I would have to see them that early.” His friend rolled his eyes. “Oh well… I’m dead meat haha !”
That night, Kun was studying when his phone buzzed.
Winwin – 12:32 AM:
Sleep.
He frowned before typing his answer.
Kun – 12:32 AM:
What ?
Winwin – 12:33 AM :
Sleep, you have exams tomorrow.
He scoffed.
Kun – 12:33 AM:
Yeah I know. I need to finish this first.
…
Wait ! How do you know I’m awake ?
Winwin – 12:34 AM:
You’re online on Facebook.
He gaped at the answer.
Kun – 12:34 AM:
