Final Notes
I will not be releasing a PDF version of Attayear. Some of you have asked, and sorry to disappoint, but it's not happening. Those of you who have followed me since TBBC will know about the plagiarism issues and I have no inclination to make plagiarism any easier for anybody dishonest enough to be inclined to do it. The only place you can read Attayear is here, online, on AFF. If you see it elsewhere, please inform me. Please don't ask for extra scenes, either. I don't write on request and I decided to end the fic where I did because it gave the impact I wanted. Knowing every little detail of BaekJin's life would kill the romance. If I change my mind, you guys will be the first to know, but for the time being, this is it. (There won't be a sequel, though. Nothing to write about.)
Some of you probably have questions, so here's some trivia for you:
Attayear took 258 days to write (Dec 10th 2015 – August 23rd 2016). It ended up in two separate Google docs because Google docs hates anything over about 100 pages long and freezes up every few minutes if you go over that. (In total, it's 548 pages long at 283,185 words.) I was originally intending it to be between 30-40 chapters and that. . . didn't quite happen. I did a fair bit of research to make the science sound plausible, e.g. into computer coding systems, mathematical equations and a whole bunch of other technological stuff. And no, I still don't understand it. I also got sidetracked for several days reading about what little we know of Balhae/Parhae, Japanese colonial rule of Korea (and what's happened to the members of the Korean royal family from then until now) and, of course, the Korean war. It's really interesting – I recommend it. All the travelling and timeframes in Attayear are calculated using this year (2016) as the baseline. For the first thirty or forty chapters I did seriously consider it being a friendship fic between Baekhyun and Jinsu and Jinsu and Jongdae eventually getting together.Story Stuff: Jinsu did indeed receive a car for her birthday (the keys). Jisig, the name of Jimin's holographic memory stick from the future, is Korean for something like "knowledge" or "equipment". The encrypted files on Jisig were opened for the first time by Jimin in Jinsu's bedroom. General Kyujong put them on there on the assumption it was something important and that Jimin or Jinsu might be able to open them if they looked at them. Jimin-in-the-future had placed all the files in his database. The passcode to open them was Jinsu's phone number. Park Jiwoon, in the end, did the decent thing and turned himself in, but along with impeaching the president. As part of his sentence, he had to hand over majority shares of his company to the Byuns. He was given a suspended sentence for perjury and contempt of court rather than going to prison because he cooperated during the appeal/impeachment case, the latter part of which would not have gone through without his influence and information. He and Byun Byunghyun eventually reconciled, though more due to the efforts of their children than because they particularly wanted to. Jimin did end up as a military spy. It drove Girlfriend-Jimin nuts. Jimin, Minseok, Jino, Inhae, Yixing and a few others formed a covert unit to ensure that nobody in the world would ever try to uncover time travel technology again. Byun Byunghyun was an adviser of sorts for a while, but Minseok's technical ability far outstripped his and he ended up as the team's main researcher until they were joined by Baekhyun when he graduated from university. Jinsu went on to become a well-respected physics lecturer at university. Youngdo ended up in juvie (he was still a m
