3 AM THOUGHTS

I first heard of your passing
at 2:17 in the morning
and I stayed up all night
crying to the memories
that were still fresh
in my mind

I watched them burn your body
at 2:34 in the afternoon
and I spent the rest of the day
wondering why even people like you
could not run away
from death
