When your heart breaks

Your soul leaves your body

Your cries become screams of help

Your thoughts are filled with memories

You want to erase

The first month is like walking through hell

You try to cry silently in the bathroom, 

your back against the cold hard wall

your hand shoved inside your mouth

with trembling fingers and tears

You may drown yourself in alcohol

waking up in your own vomit and

the next day

you do the same things you do

but without him

The second month you may have healed

to the point where 

you don't think about him much anymore

But the traces are there and

the ache still bothers you on

cold nights and lonely days

And as time passes, things get easier

Your smiles becomes brighter, 

your eyes are no longer

dull and weary
