We arrived at a café, with only a few costumers at that time. It is quiet; the smell of fresh brewed coffee lingering in the air and an instrumental jazz song was playing in the background. I followed Amber as she walked towards a vacant sit near the counter

“I’ll older for the both of us, is it okay Yoongie?” she asked, her eyes meeting mine

“Not a problem, Am” I grinned. She nodded with a smile and head towards the counter

I sat comfortably against the chair and rested my arms on the table. I look out the window. It was raining. I watch as the raindrops touched the ground. I grinned. I drew a heart with my forefinger, the mist creating the pattern as I touch the glass. I noticed Amber returning to our table. I pretended to look out the window when she sat on the chair beside mine.

“Hey, why are you sitting over here?” I asked her as her eyes were surprise by my question

“Can’t I sit here?” she asked inquisitively

“You can, but it’s too crowded here” I whispered. He pouted so cute, ugh!

“Okay” she stood up and grabbed the chair to sit across me. I sticked my tongue out at him and grinned

“You’re so mean today, Yoongie” she stated

“Me? Mean?” I asked innocently

“Yeah” she frowned as she propped a hand below her chin

“I’m not mean. It’s just that it’s too crowded beside me you’ll feel uncomfortable when you eat” I reasoned out

“What do you mean crowded? There are like less than ten people in here” she retorted, raising her eyebrow

“I’m hungry where are the food you ordered a while ago?” I asked her while changing the topic. I can’t tell her that I was flustered by her action

“tsss, you and you’re food” she mocked me

Finally, a young man delivered our food. Apparently, Amber had ordered some hot Choco for both of us, some donuts, garlic bread, and burrito for her and a double meat burger for me. She really knows what I like. Most of it is probably for me, she knows my appetite after all.

“Thank you” I said to the waiter. He smiled at me, winking as he left our table, only to reveal glaring Amber. Her eyes followed the waiter as he went back to the counter

“Hey! Who are you glaring to Liu?” I said. Amber faced me with a surprised look hearing her last name

“Did that waiter just flirt at you, Im?” she replied, returning her glaring session to the waiter again

“I just thanked him and he smiled at me. It’s not flirting, Liu” I replied, dunking a donut to my hot Choco

“I saw him winking at you” she said while pointing at the waiter. I hit her arms to stop her from creating a scene. What is this side of Amber? Was she…

“So?” I asked

“It’s flirting, Yoongie” was she jealous of the waiter? I felt my cheeks warm up at the thought. She pointed at me accusingly

“See? You’re blushing. He did wink at you” she said.Am, if you only knew, I’m blushing because of you

“You like him, don’t you? Every time we come here he was always the one who deliver our food to us” for a moment there, I actually thought the she was jealous. It turns out she was just bluffing

“You should have a boyfriend, Yoongie” she said looking at me if ever I do get one I want it to be you, Amber

“I don’t need a boyfriend. I have you already” the words just slipped from my mouth before I realise what I was actually saying. I saw a tint of blush on her cheeks. She looks so nervous for the first time.

“Do you really want to get rid of me that much?” I asked

“No” she covered her face when she answer

“Is there….a girl you want to ask out?” I asked again

“There is” her voice was stuttering. So I am right, there is a girl. Amber likes a girl. My heart felt like it was slowly breaking into pieces

“Ah…I see. Why didn’t you tell me? I could help you with this girl” I suggest, forcing a faint smile

“It’s not that easy, Yoona” she looked at me with a serious expression

“Who is this girl?” I demanded. My curiosity was getting the best of me

“This girl is someone I’ve really liked for a long time” she replied calmly. My eyes widened in surprise knowing that she liked the girl for a long time now

Could she be the cheerleader captain, Taeyeon?

Could it be her ex-girlfriend, Krystal?

Or could she be someone I don’t know? Why had Amber kept this a secret from me?

I felt the hurt inside me dominating over my other emotions. Amber, my best friend, the one that I love…was in love with someone else.

“Was this what you said you were going to tell me? I asked, surppressing a tear falling from my eyes. She nodded, sipping from her cup.  Who was I to be jealous? I’m not he girlfriend anyway.

“I’m happy for you, Amber” I smiled at her

“Thanks, Yoongie” she said as she grinned widely

“When are you going to introduce her to me?” I grinned forcibly

“I’m not sure, I still have to ask her out.” She stated

It was raining when we arrived in my house. We were both dripping wet as we both forgot to bring our umbrella, my hair was soaking and I could feel the rain at the tip of my socks.

“Do you want to come in first and wait for the rain to stop before you head home?” I asked as I was looking for my keys inside my bag

“Sure” she said, shivering

“Come inside” I told her. She nodded and followed me inside as she tried to herself with her hands

“I’ll go get you a towel and some change of clothes” I motioned her to sit down first as I head towards my room to get us some dry clothes. I ran back to the living room where I had left her

“Here. Change into these clothes before you catch cold, okay?” she nodded. I felt relieved and turn to my room to change my wet clothes into dry ones.

Once I came back to the living room I started to think today might be the last day I’m going to spend with Am. I need to start avoiding her so she can pursue the girl she likes. I saw her sleeping on the couch already. She looks so peaceful when she is sleeping. I place a blanket on her sleeping body. Moments like there, were the ones I loved the most.

I would just look at Amber and watch her do whatever she was doing. It was enough for me and it made me happy. I can’t say ‘I Love You’ to her. I would lose everything we have now. Her eyes opened and she looked at me.

“Sorry…did I wake you?” I asked while blushing

“If you were staring at me creepily like a stalker, then you did wake me up” she replied bluntly

“You conceited llama!!” I shouted at her, slapping her arm lightly

“I am not conceited! You just love me too much!” Am, why do you make me feel this way? Are you doing this on purpose?

Then she hugged me. I felt my face burn to the sensation of her touch. Her breath was warm against my neck and the fast beating of her heart was so audible against my ear. She was tousling my hair, before I even realized it. It felt like she was cherishing the moment.

“I’m sorry for what I’m going to say next. Forgive me, okay?” she said with pleading eyes

“How can I forgive you when I don’t even know why you’re apologizing?” I asked as she finally let go of the hug, we were now facing each other.

“Yoona, we can’t be friends anymore” my eyes widened at her confession

“What? Why?” I asked confusedly. My heart sunk and my tear were falling endlessly

She was silent

“Tell me Amber, why can’t we be friend anymore? Am I too irritating for you to handle because I follow you around!? Is it my fault if I care about you too much that you’re throwing our friendship that easily!?” I can’t control my emotions anymore. It’s just too much for me to handle.

“No, Yoona” she said calmly

“Then what is the reason!?” I know my face is a mess right now but I can’t stop myself from crying. Amber pulled me closer again. Her grip is tighter this time.

“I don’t want us to be friends, Yoona. That’s because I want us to be more than that” she whispered to my ear. Wh-what did she just said? Was I hearing things?

“You’re not hearing things, Yoongie. I want to ask you out. Like on a real date, not just like our usual hang out together” she spoke again, pulling me to face her. She was smiling at me with her pale brown eyes looking at me.

“I love you, Im Yoona” she said without tearing her eyes on mine

My heart was pounding inside my chest. What Amber just said is like pure music to my ears, food for my thoughts and love for my heart. She loves me too!!! Amber loves me too!!!

“Yes, I love you too” Amber said

“So, would you like to go out, like….on a date?” she asked, blushing a little, holding my hand with hers.

“I would love to” I replied, smiling at her. She wiped the tear stain off my cheeks and held it lovingly. I gave her a peck on the lips and she show me her famous dorky smile

“I love you, Im Yoona” she said with love filled in her eyes

“I love you too, Amber Liu” I answer her back and she leaned in for a kiss.
