You stared at the document in your hand, you heart pounding roughly against your chest as you struggled to breath.

You had been so happy when your husband called you out for lunch. Neither of you had seen much of eachother for the past two months. Between him taking over his fathers company after his sudden retirement and your new case demanding all of your attention you found it impressive either of you had time to breathe. So when he called and asked you to meet him at your favorite café you jumped at the offer. However your excitement died the moment you walked in and spotted him with his father. 

"Yifan?" You breathed out as you sat down across from them. He looked at you sadly before picking up the Manila envelope next to him and handing it to you. You quickly glanced between his father and him before opening it and taking out the document inside. 

"D-divorce?" You choked out quietly holding back any tears that threatened to fall. 

"I believe it's for the best." His father answered taking a sip of his coffee. "You both rushed into this marriage and even though you are a excellent lawyer, I just don't believe you are the right fit for my son." 

You looked up at him biting your cheek before looking over at Yifan who sat there not saying anything. "Yifan?" You called out again desperately. He smiled softly at you sadness pooling in his eyes as he handed you a pen. "Please ___, just sign and let's handle this quietly." 

"Is this what you want?" You asked taking the pen from him and hovering it over the document. He sat there for a moment staring into his coffee before answering.

"Yes."
