Background:

Luhan is an orphan, son the notorious bad girl of the very popular the West River Pack. He’d heard many names about his late mother, many of them stemming from the creation of him. Luhan was a cross-breed, an odd mixture of pure human and strong shifter genes. There’d many a time when Luhan’s fellow packmates had gone out of their way to remind him of this disgraceful mother, his watery and dirty bloodlines and the lack of shift traits shown within him. Luhan wanted to hate his mother and her mistakes, but that just lead to Luhan hating himself, and his family wouldn’t allow that, neither would Kai.

The only one who didn’t ridicule his existence, besides his intermediate family, was Kai, the future heir of the Northern Pack, and Luhan’s best friend. Jongin and Luhan came to knew each other because Luhan’s aunt and Jongin's mother were best friends and often let the two play with each other. Their unbreakable bond formed further when Jongin's family moved next door and Jongin and Luhan saw each other daily. They attended the same boarding school, sharing a dorm room and soon an apartment, once they began college. A strong friendship turned into something more a few weeks after they began college and the two agreed to secretly date. As far as Jongin and Luhan were concerned, they would stay like this for awhile. There was no pressure on either of them marry, nor for Kai to take the title of Head Pack and for awhile, they enjoyed their relationship.

A year into their relationship, Jongin was mysteriously called back the reservation right before winter break.
