Four months.
One hundred twenty two days.
Two thousand nine hundred sixty hours. And roughly ten million seconds had passed ever since she boarded that plane to Beijing.
Four months, one hundred twenty two days, two thousand nine hundred sixty hours and ten million seconds in an unfamiliar land called China. One hundred twenty two days of pure hard work in a place far away from home, one hundred twenty days of changes.
Change.
Whether it was her longer bobbed hair, her higher salary, or her bolder wardrobe choices, Ah Reum could tell. This change was good.
Her then monotonous black or midnight blue work was now a ier combination of black-emerald green or white -tan blazers and slim fit office pants. And she was no longer afraid to speak, to show the true, compassionate nature within her.
She believed in inherent human goodness, and that belief was no longer veiled by the old, frigid and mechanical careerwoman her. If a colleague needed assistance, her hand was there to take. If a stray dog needed a new home, her recently-built animal shelter was open. If a talent was injured, her medical student background was on standby.
And if Im Ji Hoon wanted coffee during his frequent trips to Beijing, her time was his.
It was funny, how she became a new being in China. This was real, authentic her. She owed it to Park Chanyeol for waking her up.
Although, sadly, she never heard from the man ever since. She would still wonder about Chanyeol, the same way she would wonder about every other EXO member left in Seoul.
Here's the thing though. Ah Reum's heart had long forgotten about Chanyeol, but in her mind, he was still there.
Or at least the memories of him.
Pain, heartbreaks and lessons had a special place in Ah Reum's brilliant mind, but not in her heart. Although Chanyeol was now a distant memory, she chose to let her memories with him stay. Without memories, what would become of her? Nothing.
Yes, yes, yes, she still craved for that intimacy, that physical touch from a man who truly cared about her. The only difference now was that she wanted Ji Hoon.
It was still Ji Hoon after all. It was only Ji Hoon after all.
Life could not get any better, because the love of her life could actually be interested. Several times Ji Hoon "surprise" visited her in Beijing. On one occasion, a buoquet of roses and carnations was sitting on her desk with a note that read, "Keep it up."- Ji Hoon.
And on one particular Friday night, he blushingly called her 'beautiful.' The shy, boyish smile he had on his perfect face when he complimented her was priceless. Then he tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear, followed with the words, "Don't tire yourself. I'm not always in Beijing to look after you."
To which she replied dauntingly, "I can look after myself though."
Still, why oh why my goodness Im Ji Hoon was suave. But Ah Reum learned her lesson. She would not take the bait yet. Ji Hoon may be interested, but she had decided to keep him waiting, to play that hard-to-get game.
She was far from easy. So ladies and gents, take notes.
Life in Beijing was splendid. If possible, she should probably move to China. If she will still go back to Seoul, she did not know.
If she comes back to Seoul, she would not bat an eyelash. Life goes on. Embrace changes.
Go for it, Ah Reum.
It was a normal Sunday night for him. Chanyeol smoked his third cigarette of the day as he looked at the Seoul sunset from his veranda.
"Life's good." He remarked to himself and smiled at the luck he was facing these
