Hyomin was staring at a phone that Jiyeon gave to her this morning before she left for work, it had been ringing a few times but she couldn’t figure how to use or answer it. The last time Hyomin could freely use the phone, it was still a flip phone model with regular several buttons on it, the world dramatically changed, with it latest technology Hyomin wasn’t yet accustomed with. Trying a few other options, Hyomin successfully answered it.

“Unnie” A long relief voice was heard on the other side.

“Oh Jiyeon” Hyomin said

“Unnie, I’ve been calling you many times you didn’t answer the phone, I almost get out of the office to check on you” Jiyeon was worried about her sister 

“I’m sorry Jiyeon ah, I don’t know how to use it” Hyomin said, Jiyeon came to realize that she forgot to teach her sister how to use a smart phone.

“I’m sorry unnie” Jiyeon apologized

 “It’s alright” Hyomin assured “By the way why are you calling? She asked

 “I wanted to know if you have lunch yet, I cooked some food and kept them in the fridge, just warm them up” Jiyeon answered her sister but more like a mother was telling her kid to eat well. Hyomin smiled, she thought it was something more important.

 “Jiyeon ah, I’m ok, don’t worry, I can help myself” Hyomin shook her head in disbelief; she didn’t know when Jiyeon became like this.

“I know unnie, but I want to make sure you eat well” Jiyeon said, “I’ll go straight back home after I get out of work ok? Jiyeon informed

“Relax Jiyeon ah, unnie is fine” Hyomin knew Jiyeon was worried about her but it would be better if Jiyeon just acted normal.

“Arraso, I’ll be back to work now, see you” Jiyeon said goodbye and hung up.

It had been a week since Hyomin came back home, she was learning to adapt herself to the changing outside world, it could take a while for her to fit into it. Jiyeon took sometimes off work to be with her and took her out, showing her all around. Hyomin was amazed of how genius of human was to have created and innovated things so rapidly within a half decade, she was puzzled at how people were busier with their phones all the time, even when they were eating, she noticed that people were less taking to each other. World changed, things changed, people changed but what couldn’t be changed was a past, or even if Hyomin could, she would still choose the same path and she never once regretted it. She would give all she had for her precious little sister even though she didn’t ask for it.

A phone call brought Hyomin back to reality, she looked at her phone again, this time the number showed an “Unknown” caller, she contemplated a bit and answered before the ring went off.

“Yeoboseyo” Hyomin politely answered.

“Yeoboseyo, is that Hyomin?” A voice asked

“Yes” Hyomin was excited, she could remember the voice so well.

“This is Qri” Qri said

 “How are you Qri unnie” Hyomin asked.

“I’m good, I just got your number from Jiyeon” Qri said

 “I see ” Hyomin replied.

“I’m sorry that I can’t make it to see you yet, I’ve been busy with my work” Qri said sadly

“It’s no problem, we have all the time in the world to see each other from now” Hyomin said cheerfully

“Hyomin ah” Qri could sense the bitter in Hyomin’s voice.

“Jiyeon told me she would set up a date for dinner sometimes, I would see you then” Hyomin informed

“Jiyeon said so? Qri wondered

“Yeah, she told me you were busy, but she would get you to come one day soon” Hyomin said

“Oh I see” Qri said

“Qri unnie, thank you for taking care of Jiyeon for me” Hyomin sincerely said

“You’re welcome” Qri smiled

A long pause was made, they found it difficult to come up with a topic to talk to each other, awkwardness increased between them, all they could hear was the sound of their breathing. Hyomin had a lot to say but when she heard her voice, she couldn’t manage to form any question, her heart was calling out for her but Hyomin knew better she didn’t deserve the girl who once belonged in her life, Qri was too good. Their phone call just ended awkwardly since they got nothing more to say.

Hyomin sighed, he leaned back on sofa, closing her eyes, it had been long since she last saw Qri, the last picture of her in her mind was Qri crying in front of the court.

Flashback

“Hyomin, how can you do this to me?” Qri looked at her girlfriend with a painful stare, the girl who didn’t cry easily, started to have tear beaming in her eyes.

 “I’m sorry Qri unnie” Hyomin lowered her head.

 “You didn’t accept it right” Qri shook her head frantically

“I’ve already admitted” Hyomin said

“Why Hyomin, why?” Qri was on the verge of breaking down

“I’ve got no choice ” Hyomin lowered her voice

“What’s about your life Hyomin, why are you being hard to yourself” Qri gritted her teeth

“Unnie, please give up on me, I won’t blame you for that” Hyomin gave a pleading eyes to older girl.

“I can’t believe you do this to me” Qri was crying now.

“Unnie, please take care of Jiyeon for me” Hyomin pleaded

“Miss, your visiting time is up” A police informed

 “ I love you Hyomin” Qri said with her
