It Couldn't Be Him
What We Can See (DISCONTINUED)The afternoon classes dragged on ever so slowly. The teachers droned on and on with their boring lessons, the students slept. Twice, Jiyong dozed off, face almost landing on his desk. Dara monitored his every movement, sneaking glances every now and then.
Jin Ae hasn't shown up ever since the rooftop confrontation. The promise she gave Jiyong, though, was still in effect. No ghosts loitered around Jiyong. This was beneficial for Dara as well. No scary limbless and bloody ghosts will surround her as long as she's around Jiyong.
He's not my responsibility, she reminded herself. Even if she couldn't remember what Jin Ae had made her go through before, there was one thing she was very sure of. That little girl fed on misery. She would do anything to make her toys miserable. I just hope that that Jiyong guy wouldn't be stupid enough to piss her off.
After what seemed like forever, the school bell finally rung. School has ended. Students rushed out, ready to go home. Dara stuffed her things in her bag, eager to end the day and just go home. She dearly missed the comforts of her house.
A couple of students tried to approach her as she made her way outside. She just walked past them. A lot of things had happened on her first day at school. The past that she wanted to leave behind has started to catch up with her in an eerily fast pace.
She stood outside the gates, tapping her foot impatiently on the gravel. Her brother was on his way to pick her up. Well, he was supposed to be. Just in case he forgot, she fiddled with her phone to send him a message.
"Oh! Jiyong-ah!"
Dara couldn't help but glance at the direction of the voice. There, she saw that Jiyong guy smiling goofily being surrounded by what she could only assume as his friends. Sighing, she went back to her phone. But even if she did, she still couldn't help but overhear their conversation.
"Wanna hang out tonight?" says a deep baritone voice.
"Club NB, same time," says another guy.
"You guys, it's a school night."
"Shut up Daesung. We just got through the first day of high school. We should totally celebrate."
"Fine."
"By the way, where's Seungri?"
Her heart thumped loudly at the familiar name. Her fingers stopped tapping. No, it could be somebody else. She shook her head to get rid of some thoughts. Just then, her brother's car pulled up a few feet from where she stood. Hesitatingly, she made herself go towards the car and got inside.
"How's the first day, princess?"
Dara cringed at the nickname. "Fine," she mumbled. She looked out the window just in time to see that familiar looking boy with cheeks a bit chubby and eyes the shade of darkish brown. Seungri was heading towards Jiyong and the three guys he's with. He's grown up a lot but Dara still recognized him. . They CANNOT be friends!
When they arrived at their house, his brother left immediately since he still had a meeting to attend to. She waved goodbye absentmindedly. Seungri couldn't be heading towards Jiyong at all. Maybe they aren't close. Maybe he wasn't Seungri at all. My sweet Seungri could never be friends with people who hang out in clubs. Dara quickly dismissed her thoughts.
She went up to her room and started on her homework. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't concentrate well. There was a constant ringing in her mind: that Jiyong guy is going to be in trouble.
