Chapter 7

My Broken Prince

Letting out a contented sigh as he turned to look at the slumbering Sehun on his shoulder, Tao couldn’t help but smile happily as he leaned across to place a kiss on the others head. It almost felt too soon that their holiday to Japan was finishing but he wouldn’t have changed it for the world. Granted they hadn’t gotten everything done but as Sehun had said to him, it gave them a good excuse to come back at some point and Tao couldn’t agree with that. Maybe they would be able to convince the others to go with all of the crazy photographs that they had and he was positive that the kids would adore getting to go on holiday, even baby Ai who was starting to toddle about now merrily which was great.

The last few days had been a whirlwind tour of Tokyo as they had to fit in as much as they could in the week that they had and the Ghibli Museum had rightfully taken up most of the day that they had gone. Not that Tao complained of course, they went for a lavishly expensive sushi meal afterwards which Sehun insisted on paying for and they had spent the night in the hotel playing with all of their new toys. They really were big kids at the end of the day and as far as they were concerned they were completely and totally allowed to do so. Granted the neighbours may have complained that they were surrounded by brats but at the very least there was only the two of them and not the whole family. That would have been extra loud and annoying for all concerned without it really meaning to be.

The next morning they had gotten up and Sehun had insisted on going to the Meiji Shrine which was beautiful and grand and so nice that Tao could have spent hours upon hours there even when it was busy. They had written out wishes on the slips of paper and tied them to the trees, making sure to hide them from another so not to break the spell. On his Tao had written ‘I wish for my Sehunnie to be happy and that we have a very long life together’ whereas Sehun had written, “Please reward my Zitao for being the best man in the entire world and let him know that I love him every day”. They had also gone to the prayer drum to throw in a few yen and make second wishes in the more traditional way. Even if both of them completely got the clap wrong but at least they weren’t like the American tourists behind them who managed to not only trip up the stairs but then tried to throw dollars into the well and loudly complaining that it would work just the same.

Before anything major could happen, Tao had taken hold of Sehun’s hand and they went to Yogoyi Park to experience the roving entertainers with their music, impromptu play rehearsals, statue men and women – one of whom completely freaked Sehun out when she just up and hugged him when he was standing next to her for a photograph which had Tao in stitches with laughter at the whole situation – and as they moved around they found an Elvis impersonator who was gently crooning some of the Kings best known love songs in a just about passable accent. Somehow the pair found themselves wrapped around one another in a gentle slow dance that tuned out the rest of the world completely as the man sang with their eyes only locked on one another and no one else. After three or five songs they had realised what had happened and Tao flushed an adorable bright red but Sehun just leaned forward, pressing a kiss to his lips and then continued the slow dance for another two songs.

Finally the Elvis man had finished and Tao gave him some money before they set off to hire a couple of bicycles to explore the rest of the park which was peaceful, serene and great fun to explore. They were exhausted by the time they got back to the hotel room, opting to order room service and falling asleep with full bellies and wrapped up in one another’s arms in a bit of a tangled mess.

The next day Sehun got up early to ask the receptionist where was good to visit and took Tao to Roppongi Hills for its shopping and many interesting things. It was only supposed to take a couple of hours to visit but they made a day of it and explored every last bit of the city. Sehun had to literally coax Tao around one bit however as there was a huge statue of a gold spider and the slightly elder man would not go anywhere near it. Sehun found this hilariously funny for all the reasons that he could manage to list off because whilst he knew fine well that Tao did not like bugs in the slightest he would have never thought that he would be scared of what was clearly a statue. By doing a lot of aygeo he eventually managed to convince Tao to go near it but ended up laughing when the china-line maknae fled at the first available opportunity. He had bought ice cream to make up for dragging him near that afterwards and would forever with it.

Their last full day was spent in Shibuya by mutual agreement so that they could properly shop at all the fashionable places, eat more food than they had ever managed to consume in their entire lives and experience the infamous Shibuya Crossing which nearly resulted in the pair of them tripping over more than once. They spent way too much on fashionable clothes, gifts for the family back home and probably ate about their body weight in food but it was more than worth it and Sehun said that he couldn’t honestly imagine a better situation that he’d want to be in.

Getting back to the hotel that night had resulted in packing being delayed because Sehun had jumped Tao with the excuse of giving him a massage and that had quickly turned into very passionate, loud and noisy love making that went through several different rounds. It resulted in them nearly oversleeping and having to quite literally pack at the last minute with no coordination in the slightest and probably the heaviest bags in the entire airport. They got enough time to check out a kimono shop before they left and managed to get a third bag which they could move some of the things across into so that they charges for excess baggage wouldn’t be as much but neither one was really going to complain about the charges that they had to pay.

So they had checked in, gotten sorted out and were one the plane with enough time to spare by some sheer dumb luck but typically the second that they had gotten settled in their seat, Sehun had turned to Tao placed a quick kiss on his lips murmuring a “Thank you” to him before closing his eyes and falling asleep. Tao smiled, shaking his head and amused himself with flicking through the pictures on his camera as he tried to decide which ones that he would upload for the fans to see and which ones he would keep for himself and the boys.

Once that was done Tao had turned to Sehun to see that the youngster was still sleeping and couldn’t help but feel as though the weight had been finally lifted from both of their shoulders. Yes it had been horrible when they had lost their child but hopefully there would be a chance for them again one day and as long as they had one another they could get through everything. Gently tilting Sehun’s head up, Tao leaned down and pressed a kiss to those soft lips and smiled slightly when the kiss was returned, “You’re supposed to be asleep.”

“Don’t you know that kisses from handsome princes always wake sleeping beauties?” Sehun asked with a little bit of a giggle, his eyes opening and literally sparkling brightly like they were stars in the sky.

Tao chuckled, “That’s one of my lines.”

“I know but you like hearing it from me don’t you?” Sehun said gently nipping at Tao’s nose with his teeth.

“That I do but we’re on a plane and you’re supposed to be resting,” Tao said, gently flicking the others forehead.

Rolling his eyes, Sehun pouted, “Can we just pretend that we’re still on holiday until we hit the runway back home?”

“Sure we can,” Tao said happily, “But you’re the one who complains about making out on a flight.”

Another pout came across Sehun’s lips, “That was because you were being totally unsubtle about it and noisy too. It was embarrassing.”

Laughing Tao couldn’t help but grin just a little bit at that, “I suppose it was but you were still the one who enjoyed it just as much.”

“Can we please not talk about that now?” Sehun said, a light dusting of pink on his cheeks as he ran his fingers over the others’ toned arms, “Cause I really don’t think that I could hold back and airplane has never been my thing.”

“It was that one…” Tao started with an evil chuckle.

“That was one time,” Sehun cut in, slamming his hand over Tao’s mouth, “and it will not be repeated either. When we get home however…”

Crinkling his eyes up happily, Tao nodded but still leaned forward to steal the others lips as soon as his mouth was free. Whilst Sehun would complain about making out in public on an airplane later on, at that moment in time he was more than happy to indulge Tao because they both knew that they had finally been fixed and were now free of the lingering regret and guilt. Things were going to get better and maybe right now they just weren’t ready for a child so this was possibly the best way.

Sehun knew that when they got back to Korea they were in for a lot of work with a new come back and it was sure to be a very loud one since it was going to be a full OT12 comeback but Kris would only be around for a short time and there was going to be lots of hard work involved but right at that moment in time he couldn’t think of anything that sounded more appealing. Sure there was still a little bit of left over guilt and worry in his heart but knowing that Tao was there for him every step of the way was more than enough to make him want to keep on going, to not give up on his dreams or break down anymore.

Tao felt the exact same, more than relieved to have his Sehunnie back to how he had been and whilst there would probably always be a piece that would flounder and get lost from time to time, the panda boy knew how to fix it from now on and he was never going to allow himself to let Sehun worry ever again.

Seven Months Later

“Tao!” Sehun said, banging on the bathroom door where he could clearly hear the sounds of the other throwing up once again, “Come on baby, please open the door.”

There was a pause before a click and a slight opening of the door before more hurling sounds came from inside. Sehun rushed forward, aware that someone was coming up behind him but his whole attention was on Tao who was still throwing up. Though it was clearly just bile right now as there was nothing left on the others stomach. “Tao, come on baby, we need to get you home,” Sehun said, wiping away the others sweaty fringe from his face, “You’re not well.”

“Erm Sehun,” Xiumin said, hovering just above him with a very concerned expression, “I think we may need to get him to a hospital.”

Sehun blinked up at the elder with a confused expression before following the indicating fingers towards Tao’s legs which were covered with a thin grey material however they were stained with a dark liquid and long red lines. Sehun’s eyes went wide with fright and panic as he turned to yell for the manager before realising that Xiumin had already gone running and instead quickly pulled the shivering Tao to his chest, “its okay, Taozi, its okay. I’ve got you. You’re going to be okay. I’ve got you. I’ve got you.”

It felt like mere seconds later that the medical team were there and Sehun had to be pried off the now groaning and twisting panda so that they could get to work on diagnosing what was wrong with him. Sehun didn’t notice the tears that were running down his face, all he could think of was the fact that he didn’t want to lose Tao, he couldn’t lose him now, not after all of this but he also couldn’t figure out what was wrong in the slightest either.

Luhan pulled him close, pressing a kiss to his head, “Come on, we’ve got the car, we’ll follow them to the hospital. I’m sure Tao is going to be okay, it’s going to be fine sweetie. I promise.”
