Birthday Boy
Love? Hate? Death.Even though they were nine years apart (which was like...ia...Seriously), one can easily tell that Yunho and Jae Jae were very much in love.
I mean, who could blame Yunho?
Jaejoong was such a sweet lovable and cute little boy that he could make anyone fall head over heels for him.
And even though he was only sixteen, Jaejoong was old enough to understand what love was.
It wasn't he who had fallen in love with Yunho. Rather the exact opposite.
Jaejoong came to Nine as a child, a three month old who had been dumped on the streets left to die. Sixteen years ago, it was Yunho who found him in a dumpster when he was on a mission. At that time I had just joined Nine and Yunho was appointed my guardian.
We were two eight and ten year olds who knew nothing of the cruelty of the outside world.
Yunho, not knowing what to do with the baby, brought him back to Nine.
You can imagine the reaction when he brought an outsider to a secret government based organization.
Kangta gave him the beating of his life. He still has the scar on his back to prove it.
Weirdly though, Kangta agreed to keep the baby. He left it in the care of Yoona, our second in command.
Yoona let Yunho decide a name for the baby, and I suggested Jaejoong. He agreed.
Jaejoong was brought up like a normal child. We watched him grow from a baby, to a cute little ten year old. Jaejoong's personality was insistently bubbly. He was so freaking friendly and cute and hyper, even though the place he grew up in was devoid of all love.
It was at that time that Yunho was appointed Jaejoong's guardian, and the three of us were formed into a team. Weird right? A ten year old, eighteen year old and twenty year old in one team.
So fast forward four years and Yunho suddenly came up to me and said he had fallen for Jaejoong.
I mean, like okay. I was pretty freaked. If you haven't noticed, they were TEN YEARS APART. But.... I helped him.
Truthfully, Jae Jae was never an easy boy. He was mentally unstable and liked to hurt people, including himself. But that was only when he was taken off his drugs. It was when Jaejoong had a mental breakdown and killed one of the attendants (haha. Karma) that Yunho really made his move.
Haha. I bet you're curious to know what he did right?
Okay. Jae Jae was in the containment room, throwing things around and brandishing a pencil like it was the most dangerous thing on Earth. Which it currently was, since he had used it to stab the attendant to death. And okay I admit, he looked PRETTY scary with that wild glint in his eyes and his screaming and crying and the blood splattered.... everywhere *shudder* (look it wasn't a pretty sight okay)
The guards were already positioned outside the room with a doctor to find the right moment to ambush him and put him down (like not literally kill him, just knock him out) And then Yunho came out of nowhere and entered the room.
Of course there were those loud gasps and warnings and all, but Yunho never paid any attention. I was outside, staring at him, really crossing my fingers and hoping for the best.
Jaejoong started screaming louder as Yunho came forward. He was about to stab Yunho when the elder one grabbed both his wrists, making Jae Jae temporarily immobile, and crashed his lips against Jae's.
And you know what? Jaejoong immediatley calmed down. I mean like Bipolar sort of thing. He dropped the pencil, and Yunho hugged him. I saw him whisper something in Jae Jae's ear which made the boy cry and hug him back.
At that time, I was already an expert lip-reader, so even though I couldn't hear what he said, I knew what it was.
"I'll protect you."
And so. That was how the YunJae (as I sometimes like to call them) story started. And also how the doctors began to realise that Yunho was the only person capable of calming a raging Jaejoong down. Two years later, they were still together, unchanged by time and obstacles. Cute love story, right?
I looked up to the sound of footsteps approaching. It was probably the doctor. The door opened and Doctor Kim, Jaejoong's doctor, came in. I had to admit, the doctor was pretty, though not really my type cause his beauty was kind of.... feral. Like a cat waiting to pounce.
I smiled as he entered anyway, and stood up to greet him. I glanced at Yunho, who was steadfastly ignoring the doctor, with Jaejoong asleep in his arms. Yunho gets like that sometimes. He doesn't like to talk to strangers, and will really have a grudge on you if you hurt his little Jae Jae. Like anyone would be stupid enough to harm Jaejoong in front of him.
"Ah. Doctor Kim. Hello," I said, bowing slightly as we shook hands, "Do you remember us?"
Doctor Kim smiled and rolled his eyes playfully. "Of course. How could I forget." He pointed at Yunho "The man who punched me in the face for making little Jaejoong cry," and then he looked at me "And the man who managed to calm him down before he killed me."
I laughed. I liked this doctor. Yunho as usual, totally ignored him, as he played with Jaejoong's hair. Sometimes I wondered wny he acted so immature.
"So," I said, turning back to the doctor, "How's Jaejoong's progress? Anything to report?"
The doctor scratched his head, and we both sat down. He took out Jaejoong's folder, which was like, the thickness of an Oxford Dictionary, and began skimming through to the back pages.
"Well..." he started, "On the first day he was here, he was screaming a lot, asking for a Yunnie and Chunnie." I flinched internally at this. I hated making Jae Jae sad. "He started harming himself by scratching himself with his nails and throwing around anything within his reach. We had to sedate him several times, but he always seemed to wake up and cause more havoc. Eventually we had to place him in a medically induced coma for about three days. Amazingly though, he woke up himself and tried to kill an attending nurse. Unfortunately the nurse was knew and tried to fight back, resulting in some....injuries... to Jaejoong."
I practically felt a dark aura growing from behind me and supressed the need to shudder. I knew he was going to "take care" of that nurse later, but I ignored him for the time being.
"Around the second week," the doctor continued, "Jaejoong began to show signs of improvement, and we even contemplated discharging him, but we had to take him down again when he chased a patient with a metal ruler he found and attempted to stab him with it. We gave him a lot of different degrees of medication, and his body couldn't really tolerate it, so he started vomiting alot. He wouldn't eat and developed a fever soon after, but we put him on IV drips for a while, so other than an empty stomach, he SHOULD be fine."
I watched him emphasise on his 'should' and started wondering what he meant by it.
"He started getting better after that, but I'd still advise you to be wary. He lost some weight, but feeding him should be enough. Don't give in foods that are too high in sugar, he might get hyper. Keep him on medication and watch his diet. Other than an empty stomach, he should be fine, though."
I smiled as the doctor handed me a bag full of Jaejoong's medication. We talked some more about Jae Jae's condition, until Yunho himself fell asleep. Finally the doctor excused himself. There was apatient having a mental breakdown and he needed to be there.
I looked at Jaejoong and Yunho, both asleep, and couldn't help but take my phone out and snap a picture. Another addition to my collection ^^
"We should get going now," I said to the both of them.
Yunho and Jaejoong both woke up immediately. Being Nine agents, we were incredibly light sleepers. We had to be. We didn't know who would suddenly come out of nowhere and attack us in our sleep.
"Chunnie hyung carry me~" Jaejoong asked, stretching his arms towards me.
Yunho kissed his neck lightly. "I'll carry you," he offered.
Jae Jae shook his head. "I want Chunnie hyung. Chunnie hyung~"
I came and carried the boy bridal style as we walked out. I could see that Yunho was upset, but knowing that it was Jaejoong's decision, I knew he wouldn't say anything.
"How was your stay here, Jae Jae?" I asked, as we rounded a corner and the lady at the counter waved us goodbye.
Jae Jae waved back before answering. "It was fine!" he answered, legs starting to swing again. "I slept a lot, then I played with some patients, then I had some fun with the nurses. But Doctor Kim would always come and scold me afterwards though..."
He pouted to himself at the memory, and I laughed at his cuteness.
I knew his definition of fun was very.... different from others, but I decided to let it go.
"Did you make friends with any of the patients? Did they have fun with you?"
Jaejoong nodded. "They screamed a lot and always made me play tag with them, though I was the one who always had to chase them, and played hide-and-seek. It was a bit difficult at first since they always ran away from me, but I always got them. Right where I wanted." A creepy smile spread over his face as he said that.
I tried not to shudder, thinking of the fear those patients had around him. Jae Jae's mind was so twisted sometimes that he saw chasing his targets and finding them to kill/harm them as a game both he, the predator, and the prey, both enjoy.
"Did you scare them?" I asked.
Jaejoong smiled innocently. "A little bit," he said. He held up his index finger and thumb to show what 'a little bit' meant.
Poor patients. They were probably scared less.
I sighed out loud. We had already reached the car, and I waited for Yunho to unlock the doors. "Jae Jae... Hyung has already told you many times that it's not right to scare people, haven't I?"
Jaejoong pouted, as Yunho opened the passenger door for me, "Yes..." Jaejoong answered, "But hyungie~ It's fun!"
"I know it's fun to you, but it might not be fun to others." I advised him gently as I placed hhim in the backseat.
"Okay hyungie..." Jae Jae answered looking down.
He suddely looked at Yunho, who was still outside. "Yunnie~ Sit with me! Sit sit!" Jae Jae yelled, patting the seat beside him.
"I need to drive Jaejoong."
"It's okay," I interrupted, "I can drive."
Yunho nodded. I knew he was itching to be with Jaejoong again. He slid into the back seat and Jae Jae immediately latched on to him. I smiled as I slid into the driver's seat.
"Chunnie hyung..." Jaejoong called from behind, "Can we go out to eat? I'm hungry..."
I looked at Yunho, and I saw him nod. Permission granted ^^
"Sure," I answered, "Where do you wanna go?"
Jaejoong stayed quiet for a while. "Ice cream...?"
I nodded to show that I understood. I knew exactly where to go.
"Yunnie..." said Jaejoong as Yunho put an arm around his shoulder to bring him in closer. I glanced at them through the mirror. "Did you miss me?"
I saw Yunho nodding. "A lot." he answered.
"Did you think of me everyday?"
"Every single one." was Yunho's reply.
Jaejoong smiled at the answer. "Kiss me?" he said, pointing to his lips.
"No," Yunho answered. Ouch.
"But why...??" Jaejoong pouted.
"I already kissed you at the centre." Yunho replied, as he stared out the window.
Jaejoong whined for a long time, trying to get Yunho's attention. He sounded like a dolphin.
Finally, he said "Yunnie doesn't love Jae Jae anymore...?" His voice cracked. His eyes watered. He was going to cry.
I almost laughed at Yunho's tease. The both of them really were so cute <3
I saw a tear roll down Jaejoong's cheek and realized Yunho had went a bit too far.
"Yunho..." I said as Jaejoong sniffed, both of us catching his attention.
==================================
Yunho's POV
I turned around to look at Jaejoong when I heard him sniff. Tears were rolling down his cheeks as he looked at me with large doe eyes sparkiling with tears.
"You think just because I won't kiss you for once means I don't love you anymore?" I asked rhetorically, as I used my free hand to wipe away his still faliing tears
He nodded anyway, and sniffed once more.
I frowned. "Conceited," I said, as I claimed his lips in mine.
I felt his lips turn into a smile when I did so. He moved with my kiss, and I tilted my head to lead it. Innocently, he my bottom lip and I smirked. I bit his bottom lip in return. Shocked by the pain, he parted his lips slightly. I took the oppurtinity and gently moved my tongue into his sweet little cavern. I moved my tongue, exploring at my own free will. He tasted like caramel, smelled like vanilla. Just like I remembered.
I broke the kiss with a final of his lips. I couldn't let anything else happen. He wasn't even legal yet. Besides, I wasn't interested in in someone so cute. I couldn't ruin his innocence. That would be kind of stupid. I loved him too much to even think about it.
Jaejoong seemed slightly diappointed, but smiled when I gave him a soft peck on the nose. He leaned against my chest, as I played with his hair.
"Yunnie and Chunnie is so mean!" He pouted.
"How so?" The both of us asked at the same time.
"Today is Jae Jae's birthday, and he didn't even get anything!"
I widened my eyes and looked up at Yoochun, who was staring right back at me with the same expression through the front mirror. We both looked at the digital calender displayed on the dashboard at the same time.
January 26.
"We didn't forget, Jaejoongie," Yoochun said upfront, "It's just that you were only JUST checked out right? We couldn't buy you anything since we came straight from Nine."
Jaejoong stayed quiet for a while, pouting, before sliding down to lie his head down on my lap. "Okay..." He said, understanding our situation.
I played with his features, his cheeks, his rosy red lips, his long eyelashes. My hands went down to his neck, where there were deep scratches. I traced them lightly, and Jaejoong giggled, tickled by the sensation.
"What happened here?" I asked.
Jaejoong played with my fingers that were his neck. "I scratched myself."
"And here?" I his bruised knuckles, kissing them lightly.
"Um... I punched the walls I think," Jaejoong answered, unsure of himself.
"And here?" I asked, fingers dancing all over his bruised arms.
Jaejoong lifted his arms up and studied them, before frowning and putting them down. "I don't remember." He said finally.
I nodded, understanding. He probably got held down during one of his episodes, and the nurses were a bit too rough, causing all the bruises on his fragile frail arms. I didn't like seeing bruises on his body. He was too beautiful to have them, but they were such common place that I accepted them.
I played with his hair again. It was jet black, even under the sun. It was rare to find pure jet black hair. (A/N: this is true, mind you) Most people who had black hair were brown in the presence of strong sunlight. His would always stay black, a beautiful contrast to his pale skin.
"Your hair is getting a bit too long..." I said as I brushed the bangs out of his eyes, "You want to cut it?"
"No!" Jaejoong replied almost immediately, holding his bangs down with both his hands. "Jae Jae likes his hair long."
"But you look like a girl," I said, twirling a lock of his, "A very pretty girl."
Jaejoong grinned. "I like being a pretty girl. My friends like my hair long too!"
"Your friends at school?" Yoochun asked.
Jaejoong nodded. "DongHae said I'm prettier than all~ the girls he's ever met and he even asked me out!"
"What did you say?"
"I said okay but I have to ask permission from Kangta appa first."
I frowned at Jaejoong's answer while Yoochun snickered.
"You didn't say you were already taken?" he asked
"Taken? Nobody took Jae Jae." Jaejoong sat up, confused. "Who took Jae Jae?" He asked, leaning into the space between the two seats to look at Yoochun.
I lifted him up and placed him on my lap. "Yunnie took Jae Jae," I said as I wrapped my arms around his tiny waist and placed my chin on his shoulder.
Jaejoong looked at me, still not getting it. "Why did Yunnie take Jae Jae?" He asked, doe eyes large with curiousity and confusion.
I answered by claiming his lips in mine. Surprised, Jaejoong pulled back.
"Hmm... Because Yunnie likes Jae Jae?" I answered.
"Yunnie likes Jae Jae?" He repeated.
I nodded.
"Lots and lots?"
"Lots and lots."
