xlv. Once Upon A Dream

“Hello, my name is Kim Taehyung, nice to meet you all!” His bright face, his cheery voice, his radiant smile—Kim Sohye feels like being into his charm in no time, tinge of envy stays still though. “You can ask my signature from now on before I become a great actor one day.”

To put it briefly, the new student Kim Taehyung is succeeded at setting Sohye’s class in loud chaos since the morning. He is the exact opposite of her; Kim Sohye is the invisible, not because her friends being mean to her but simply because of her own self. She doesn’t have many friends (except for Sujeong who is kindly being her tutor in math besides they share the same grandparents), and she doesn’t even have a dream. Since Sohye was a child, her parents needed to teach her about ‘how avoiding trouble by being invisible’ which she applies well until this moment, in high school.

Kim Sohye is just an average student, the one who usually sits on the background of lead actors to complete the empty setting—yet, no one knows her name. Polite smile will always be on her face because her daddy—an average worker in some struggling factory—said smile was gonna make trouble stay away.

“What’s your name?”

Sohye doesn’t expect it, really, but the focused eyes Taehyung has on her is real. It’s the evening after school when she usually has private studying with Sujeong in the empty classroom, and then suddenly Kim Taehyung walks in leisurely and sits beside her. And even takes attention of her existence.

She forces out a smile, no matter how comfortable she feels right now. “I am Kim Sohye.”

Taehyung places one hand under his chin as his head tilts to see her better. He’s stunningly handsome from this up close, Sohye thinks, that’s why he’s dreaming of becoming an actor. There’s still no sign of Sujeong because unlike Sohye, Sujeong is this brilliant student in her class and very sociable. Sohye thinks maybe she just can ditch the lesson this time.

“Sohye-ssi.” His voice is deep, husky, like a growl but still carries friendliness. His childlike grin still plasters on his face as his eyes twinkling in such playful way. “Can I call you Sohye?”
