xxxi. Reunited, You

Park Chanyeol is the first one who finally can reach him and Kim Taehyung isn’t surprised at all. Chanyeol is the most easy-going person after all, he becomes the social butterfly since their high school period and the fact he can easily find Taehyung is kind of expected. Kim Taehyung has been away from any form of things that reminds him with his past high school’s life, and if Chanyeol didn’t suddenly appear in front of his apartment one evening, Taehyung’s planned life would be a great success.

So, here is Taehyung with a reunion invitation being played under his fingers, looking like other bus passengers although his heartbeat frantically errates in his chest. He knows about the reunion, he’s watched every progress of it on group chat in silence─and silently hoped they already forgot about him.

“You’re suddenly gone without trace,” Chanyeol stated last time they met. “Like her.”

At the indirect mention of her, Taehyung had to feel a small part of his heart being pinched with the exact similar pain he’s been trying to bury for the past years. He maintained his polite face as Chanyeol tried to study any expression out of him.

Her. That’s exactly why Taehyung tries to shut out all of his high school related things from his life. Both of them─him and her─were the lovely couple their school considered the epitome of perfect relationship everyone dreamt of. His perfection, her perfection, each of their own blended well and worked like in sync and no one could really hate the chemistry they had wholly.

And just like a dream, it’s gone fast once you’re awake.

Taehyung blinks once, twice, savoring the whole new (yet so familiar) scene in front of him. He feels nostalgic with what’s on his sight now; his high school building that once witnessed how wide his smile was every time the beautiful figure of hers came into the view.

Seeing no one he recognizes passing by, Taehyung lifts his hood up and walks slowly to the assigned room. He mentally curses Park Chanyeol and Kang Seulgi altogether for ruining his life plan now. Without focus, Taehyung lets his feet bring him wherever they want.
