Opposites
More Than Romance | HIATUSMiddle of Freshman Year.
Rina began to enjoy life thanks to Jay even before becoming lovers. She became more open to other people which gained her new friends. Along the way Rina befriended Luna and they instantly clicked. The two became inseparable. The moment that launched the beginning of their friendship was when the two were in a music store.
"This is my jam!" The two exclaimed simultaneously.
They looked at each other with an understanding, a fangirl's understanding.
“And I can't stop thinking about you girl~" they sang
The two jumped together as if they were at a concert. The manager shushed them but they broke into laughs.
"They sure know how to pick 'em," Luna said
"Or it might be because Super Junior is coming back with Don't Don," Rina speculated
"That too. I'm Luna by the way," she introduced herself
"Rina,"
"It is nice to know a fellow ELF,"
"Right!"
"What school do you go to?"
"It's the high school 3 blocks down from here,"
"Sweet! I'm transferring there,"
"Wow. I can give you a tour then,"
“This is fate, girl!" Luna suddenly hugged Rina.
If this happened months ago, Rina would have stood there like a statue. She was always the socially awkward type. But it was in the now, she didn't hesitate to return the hug. It felt nice befriending someone without Jay's help.
–
Start of Sophomore Year.
Rina was loitering around the school grounds. Their neighborhood's swing set was broken and so she had no choice but to go to school on a weekend. Jay and Jun were out with their guy friends, practicing new choreography. She felt lonely, when her cellular device began to vibrate. She answered immediately.
“Hello,”
“Hey Rina! Where are you? I'm at your place,” it was Luna
“Why are you there?”
“I just wanted to see you,”
“Really?” Rina's mood lifted up
“Yeah!”
Rina smiled at Luna's enthusiasm.
“I'm at school,” Rina informed her
“What? At this time? Why?” Luna bombarded her with questions
“I just wanted to go somewhere away from home,”
“I'll come over there right now. Give me 5 minutes tops.”
Rina couldn't believe she could ever meet someone like Luna and get along. If there was a spectrum for personalities, they would be on the opposite ends of each other. Rina was improving but she still came off as aloof, an introvert, to many. Luna was the complete opposite. She was outgoing, friendly, and everybody liked her. As Rina started to drown in her own thoughts about how different she is from Luna, Luna arrived.
“Riiiiina~” she yelled while running
“You might hurt yourself,” Rina warned her
“Nahhh.”
And then Luna tripped over the cement that was keeping the sand in the swing area. Luckily, it was sand that she landed on.
“I told you,” Rina helped her up
“Clumsy me,” Luna giggled
“Your dad isn't going to wait for you?” asked Rina
“Nah, I'll stay with you until you're better,”
“Better?”
“I can tell something was wrong,”
“How?”
“We're friends!” Luna suddenly pulled Rina to a bear hug
Rina was fond of Luna but sometimes she was scared of getting attached. She didn't want to be so invested in anybody because she was scared they'd eventually leave her. Rina didn't want to admit it but her parents gave her abandonment issues.
The two stayed on the swings for a couple of minutes. It was silent, but neither of them minded. But Luna was starting to get curious and concerned.
“It's that personal, huh,” Luna finally talked
“It's not a big deal,” Rina slightly swung
“Is it Jay?”
“Jay? Why would you think it's Jay?”
“I hear the other girls gush about him a lot,”
“You're fast. It is Jay, but what about the girls?”
“They must be jealous of you,”
“Why? Jay and I. We're just friends,”
“Right, just friends,” Luna wiggled her index fingers at Rina
“We are,” Rina insisted
“Okay so maybe you two are. I'm still kind of new, but even I can see it,”
