Water Wars
EquationsNote: A couple people requested a Running Man family special? So here we go...
After months of discussion and planning, the whole crew and cast of Running Man agreed on a Running Man family special. Though of course, they were incomplete. Dream was too young to participate in it and Kwangsoo and Jongkook didn’t have children yet. So the final decision split them up into 4 teams: Jaesuk, his wife and their son, Sukjin, his wife and their son, Gary, Jihyo and Keia, and Jongkook, Haha and Kwangsoo. Their morning was already busy. The kids were more excited of seeing each other than playing the Running Man missions. As usual, Jihyo was the last to come. Gary came straight from home with Keia while she went to a meeting in the morning. When she came, Keia was napping. She peeked to see Keia and let her sleep, joining the others instead.
“Jiho...” Jaesuk called out. “Say hello to imo.” Being the well-mannered man that he was, he wanted his son to be polite and humble. Sukjin echoed after him, telling Hyunwoo to do the same.
“Eish, oppa… It’s ok, they were playing.” She said, caressing the boys’ heads. Maybe it was because Jaesuk and Jihyo were especially close, but Jiho seems to always enjoy being around Jihyo. He feels comfortable with her. Maybe it was partly because they meet quite often too. The boys went ahead and played again. “How long has she been sleeping?” Jihyo asked Gary as she sat next to him. He put his hand around her waist, keeping her close.
“She’ll wake up soon. And when she does, she’s your daughter.” He said and Jaesuk laughed. Jihyo just rolled her eyes, ignoring her husband.
“Still?” Sukjin asked, referring to Keia’s fear of being left behind since Hong Kong. Jihyo laughed and shook her head. Keia was fine, but she had always been rather whiny when she’s sleepy even before that. Gary had always been afraid that he would irritate her more, although sometimes he was her best bet.
“All of you make me curious to how bad it is.” Jongkook said.
“Then try, hyung.” Kwangsoo suggested, laughing at him. The others turned to face Jongkook, waiting to hear his answer. He looked unshaken, and with that, he nodded.
“Geurae, I’ll try.” He said. Sukjin and Jaesuk laughed. Sukjin, who was sitting near Keia, patted her.
“Poor kid. You’re an experiment here.” He said while laughing. Her parents laughed at it. Being the only daughter from their Running Man family, Keia often becomes the muse of the group. Besides, it was as if they were playing around with a little Jihyo. They were already around Jihyo a lot that they felt find doing the same with Keia. With the laughs going on, Keia slowly woke up. Gary saw her moving and went out right away. Gary and Jihyo needed to change into their Running Man uniform anyway. Several of the PDs who were sitting around with them looked away, watching Jongkook only from the reflection of the mirror.
As they all had expected, Keia woke up looking for her parents. Instead, she saw Jongkook kneeling next to her. She rubbed her eyes and looked away, continuing her search for her parents. She didn’t see them anywhere.
“Do you want to come with me?” Jongkook said so awkwardly. The others laughed at his awkwardness. Keia shook her head firmly. She had no intentions to do so. “Did you have a nice nap?” He asked her and she just sobbed.
“Appa…” She called out, not knowing that her mom was already there. She whined. Jongkook lifted her, but it was awkward. She struggled out of his grasp. Those who had kids just laughed at the way he was handling Keia. Kwangsoo stepped in. He was pretty good with handling kids. At least he was less awkward.
“Come with samchon. Let’s go find appa.” He said. Keia immediately went into his arms. Keia looked around the room and saw Jihyo’s purse lying around. She was certain that it was hers. She knew it well. She pointed at the purse. Kwangsoo carried her and let her see the purse. She didn’t really do anything, but it seemed to confirm her thought. She wailed louder.
“Eomma…” Her cheeks turned red, her tears came rolling down. Her parents were around and she knew it. She knew that they must be doing something somewhere near.
“Aigo…” Jaesuk said, laughing and patting Keia’s back at the same time. “You want eomma and appa.” He said to her and she nodded weakly. It wasn’t that Jihyo and Gary were watching. They were really changing their outfit and they came back hearing her cry terribly. Jihyo and Gary laughed as they came in. Keia cried louder when she saw them, needing them to soothe her right there, right then.
“Uri ddal, jeongmal…” Jihyo said taking Keia from Kwangsoo, hitting her legs playfully. She chuckled at Keia’s sobs. Her breathing was uneven. She took Keia and sat down, letting Keia calm down on her own while she went through the inside of her purse. She took out a little container of blueberries and handed it to Keia. She shook her head, not wanting anything to do with it. She shifted in her mom’s embrace. Standing up, sitting down, resting her head, pulling away, clinging onto her. “What are you doing?” Jihyo looked at her and laughed. Keia smiled as well, sitting back down on her mom’s lap.
“Wa… Daedanhada.” Kwangsoo said, as if he just had a gym workout. Jongkook seemed to find it hard to comprehend too. He was still baffled at his attempt.
“Ok, let’s start filming.” One of the PDs came in with Hyunwoo and Jiho running behind him. The ones in the room were surprised but nodded. Jihyo looked at Keia who seemed to be confused and laughed at her daughter. She wiped the remaining tears off of her face. Gary lifted Keia from behind her, kissing her back and then putting her on his shoulder. She giggled at him, holding onto Gary’s neck. Hyunwoo walked beside Gary, asking hi
