“I oppose this wedding.” Sehun said, “You see, you’ve got the wrong groom.”

The wedding conductor looked flabbergasted as the young man kept approaching the altar. Kiara dropped the bouquet in her hands and sprinted to Sehun. He opened his arms just in time to catch her as she threw herself on him, as all the guests looked scandalised.

It took no time for the cameras to start clicking and flashing, to capture this latest scandal, that would keep their offices busy for quite some time.

“Hey, beautiful.” Sehun whispered, only for her ears, “Did you like my gift?”

“Which one?” Kiara sighed, burying herself in his chest, “The necklace or this out of the blue appearance?”

“I meant the necklace,” Sehun chuckled softly, “But you can tell me about both, if you like.”

“I loved them.” Kiara murmured.

“Good.” Sehun said, hugging her tighter.

“What is the meaning of this?” a voice thundered suddenly, breaking the moment, “What do you think you’re doing?”

Sehun and Kiara turned to see Mr. Lau standing up, looking furious. Next to him, Mrs. Lau looked just as enraged, no hint of a smile on her, fake or otherwise.

“Setting things right, Mr. Lau.” Sehun looked at him right in the eye, “All the things that you messed up, I’m setting them right.”

“You insolent brat!” Mr. Lau’s eyes spelled murder.

“That’s enough, father.” Henry said sharply, stepping down from the altar.

“You!” Mr. Lau screamed, pointing a gnarled finger at Henry, “You will pay for this!”

Seething with fury, he drew his phone out and dialled a number. He glared murderously at Henry, waiting for the call to go through. Henry merely returned his stare steadily, which made him angrier.

“Hello?” Mr. Lau spat into the phone, as someone on the other end answered, “Who’s this?”

A victorious smirk slowly formed on Henry’s face, as Mr. Lau’s expression turned more and more bewildered and frightened.

“Look, officer, there obviously has been some kind of a misunderstanding…” he said, wiping the beads of perspiration forming on his forehead. He glanced at the guests looking at him curiously and walked a little distance away to continue the conversation.

From the little she had heard, Kiara put two and two together. She turned to Sehun with a hesitant smile, “So, Wendy’s alright?”

Sehun smiled, “Wendy’s absolutely fine. Kris and the others got her out just in time for me to stop this wedding.”

“So, you guys have been in touch?” Kiara asked, “Are they all okay?”

“Of course we’ve been in touch. And they are all fine.” Sehun said, looking up as Henry walked up to them.

“Father looks like he’s in soup.” He commented, quietly.

“Yeah, Donghae hyung got the authorities involved and being a case of abduction, they got in touch with the higher ups here in Seoul.” Sehun told them, “I don’t know if he can be convicted for the abduction case here in Seoul, but he will be taken into custody for the investigation regarding the demise of his first wife.”

Henry’s expression hardened, and he said through clenched teeth, “He deserves every punishment they throw at him and more.”

“This means your father will be taken under custody as well, Kiara.” Sehun said gently. Kiara gathered that he had been told about their recent discovery that Mrs. Song had been Henry’s mother.

“I know.” Kiara said quietly, turning to look at her parents who were still rooted to their seats. Her mother was holding Kevin’s hand, looking thoroughly confused while her father simply looked grim. His eyes gave nothing away as they met Kiara’s.

“Hey.”

Kiara turned away from her father on hearing Yoora’s voice. She gave Yoora a small smile and took her hand. She didn’t know what to feel, as she walked away from her father, towards the changing rooms. She knew he deserved what was coming to her, but she couldn’t just not care about a man who, despite everything, was her father.

“Why would her father be involved in my mum’s case?” Kiara heard Henry ask Sehun.

She tugged on Yoora’s hand to walk faster. She didn’t want to be present at the spot when Henry found out that she had witnessed his mother’s death. She could hear Sehun answering Henry’s question in a low voice and tried her best to blur out the words. She didn’t have the courage to turn around and see Henry’s reaction.

“Kiara, slow down!” Yoora exclaimed, struggling to keep up with her in her high wedges. Only then, Kiara realized that she had been all but sprinting away from Henry. She stopped and turned around to see Sehun with a comforting hand on Henry’s shoulder while he looked pale and weak.

When Henry looked at her, Kiara felt the insane urge to run away and not look back, but she stood her ground.

“Do you have pictures of her, you know, from when she was with you?” Henry asked softly, when he reached her. Kiara nodded, her tears slipping out.

“I’m sorry, Henry.” Kiara choked out.

“Was she…” Henry swallowed thickly, “Was she happy? At least for some time?”

Kiara nodded again.

“I doubt she ever mentioned me?” Henry gave a hopeless little chuckle.

Kiara shook her head, sadly
