“Dad! Hurry! The bakery said they’re closing in 15 minutes!” Park Bom was excitedly dragging her dad towards the building the bakery was in. It was her birthday, her father ordered her a cake but they were running late.

Her father chuckled, “We wouldn’t have been this late if you dismissed yourself on time during soccer practice,” he took a good look at his beloved daughter “I think you’re working yourself too hard, you’re already exceptionally gifted at it, there’s no need to overwork yourself”

Bom rolled her eyes, “You have no idea where your daughter stands, I must be THE best. Soccer is probably my only ticket to University, have you SEEN my grades?” Although Bom wasn’t a horrible student, she wasn’t exactly in the top 5% of grades… heck, she wasn’t even in the top 20%. “ ALSO, if I don’t keep up my skills, they probably won’t give me as big of a scholarship!”

Her father frowned, “Hey, you don’t really have to stress on that, I’ve got you covered. You always make me look like a shady father whenever you worry about money.” Bom’s family wasn’t wealthy, but her father certainly wasn’t a beggar. Although her mother passed away when she was a toddler, her father had done a great job in taking care of her. Her family wasn’t the richest, but Bom never lacked anything due to the life insurance from her mother’s death and also because her father had a stable job at a bank.

Bom looked over to her father, “You know that’s not what I meant! I just feel like I should be responsible for my tuition as well!” Her father gave her a knowing smile and chuckled as his daughter ran ahead of him. They came to an intersection, seeing there were no vehicles driving on the road, Bom paced forward to cross the street.

Mr. Park took his time and followed Bom’s direction. Suddenly, he saw a big white flash from his right peripheral vision, he turned his head and saw a big truck speeding towards their way. He instantly looked towards Bom, who was ignorant of the danger coming her way. Without thinking twice, Mr. Park ran towards his daughter and tackled her daughter to the side of the road.

Everything came too quickly and Bom had no idea what was happening. She felt her father give her a heavy push and felt a hard collision slam into her shoulder seconds right after. The next thing she knew there was an intense pain coming from her neck. She attempted to get up but failed miserably, she couldn’t even feel her arms and legs, her vision was becoming blurry so she tried her best to shake it off. She was getting really drowsy, despite her attempt to stay alert. Right before her body gave in to the drowsiness he saw a panicking man crouched next to her motionless father,speaking frantically to whoever he was on the phone with. Her gaze went to her father, she tried to call out to him but failed to even let out a whimper. Her already blurry vision became like a mosaic and she felt something wet running down her almost numb cheeks...that was all she could manage before her mind drifted into deep sleep.
