That evening when I came home from work, I saw Shin Hyesung's vehicle in front of my apartment block. Great, this saved me some effort from finding him. I went up and knocked on the window and it was wind down. I saw Shin Hyesung at the driver's seat while Junghyuk was at the passenger's seat.

I frowned at Shin Hyesung." Are you sure you aren't too old to obtain the driving license?"

"Oh my forged identity card indicated that I am 18 years old." Shin Hyesung smirked," I could have under declared my age by a lot."

I shrugged," Why are you here?"

Shin Hyesung narrowed his eyes," I bet you have a lot of things to ask me and so I am here."

I brought them up my apartment and Junghyuk whined that he wanted to eat some  cake. Surprisingly, Shin Hyesung took out a plate of delicious cake from his back.

"Wow, you are like a magician! Wow!" Junghyuk was squealing away.

"The barrier shield has no effect on you, I see."

Shin Hyesung swatted away Junghyuk's hand when he tried to take the cakes. Next, a fork appeared and he pushed it to Junghyuk's hand.

Shin Hyesung did not reply to my comments, I dragged Junghyuk into my room and warned him to finish the cakes before he was allowed to come out. Junghyuk nodded happily and clutched onto his plate of cakes. He was happily going through my DVDs collection to watch a movie.

When I return to the living room, Shin Hyesung was sitting seductively on the sofa.

"Speak now, foxy."

Shin Hyesung smiled," Of course the barrier has no effect on me because it was created indirectly by me."

Shin Hyesung told me about the past which was not recorded in our notes.

Shin Hyesung stood up and gazed outside, he seemed to be in another dimension, seeing the episode and character unfolding before him once again....

"Kyo, stop peeping at the human! Human are evil, be careful else you will be discovered by them!"

The furry fox curled up into his tail and ignored the warnings from his friends. 

Not far away, there was a young man in dark green robe and he was emitting a ball of fire from his palm, creating his sword.

The rest ran off after seeing no response from Kyo. Kyo remained at his hiding place. It was till late in the night that the young man was called off by some of the other disciples. It was only then Kyo crawled from his hiding place timidly.

Kyo circled round the half finished sword. Half of the sword was submerged in the stream while the portion visible above the water seemed to be razor sharp.

The young man called 'Hyuk' had poured great amount of effort and time in creating his sword. However, till date it was not finished. Kyo raised it's furry front paws and touched it's forehead. Kyo drew out a ball of energy. Demon's training and Human's training was of different levels. The ball of energy from the little fox glowed like fire and it was crystal blue in colour. The glow illuminated the stream immediately.

When Hyuk returned very early the next day, the sword was glowing with a very faint blue light. Hyuk delightedly withdrew the sword and welded it. In a flash, he slashed a big tree in half. Hyuk took the sword and aimed at a huge boulder. After a loud rumbling noise, a large chunk fell down.

Hyuk returned to the stream and a bright smile was seen on his handsome face. Kyo was watching the scene from his usual hiding place and he was hugging his tails in joy.

Few springs had passed by in a blink of an eye.

The young man Hyuk had grown up into a charismatic man. He tied up his long black hair and was guiding a young boy patiently.

"You have to feel the spirit of your sword and to fuse your spirit with it. Hyesung ah, did you get what I said?"

The boy beamed and grinned," Hyung, what if I want your sword?"

Hyuk shook his head and he was at a loss to deal with this cheeky dongsaeng. " It not that I can't bear to part with my sword. I crafted my sword from scratch and only I can bond with it. It would be useless to you."

Hyesung pouted and shot his tongue out. Hyesung glided his fingers softly over Hyuk's sword," The other hyung's mentioned that this is the finest sword to equal to 'Spirit of Soul'."

"Spirit of Soul is just a myth of our Sect. We can't take it for real." Hyuk replied quietly.

Hyesung tilted his head sideway, looking at Hyuk," Hyung, I have been here for 5 years but why didn't Teacher teach me the art of creating a sword?"

"You are a greedy boy. You want to learn everything and how can you be good in all?" Hyuk shook his head," You have been learning this set of sword skill for almost a year and how would you have time to learn more things?"

Hyesung's large eyes flashed sadness and Hyuk stopped. He smiled gently," Hyesung ah wait till you master this sword skill, I will create a sword for you myself."

"Hyung, you must keep the promise. You must craft every bit of my sword yourself! Else I will not want it."

Hyuk grinned.

From far, there was rustling noise in the bushes.

"Kyo is so foolish. To think he seal his energy and enter the sect to be with Hyuk? Kyo is foolish to announce that he wanted to be a human....."

"But isn't he so blissful at this moment? His Hyuk hyung was so lovingly doting on him...."

I saw a tears rolled down Shin Hyesung's right cheek but he did not seem to have notice it.

It was a cold winter.

Hyesung was looking outside of the window," Hyuk hyung said that I will be getting my sword soon." Hyesung muttered to himself and beamed happily. " However,  he hardly smile now ever since he took over and became the ruler of the Sect. ..."

Hyesung touched the fine red line on his forehead. It was a glaring crimson colour," These few years, I had been sealing my energy and soon I will lose my Demon's energy. By then, I would become a human. Ah, I almost forget that I was once a 9 tails fox Demon."

"I never regretted my decision." Hyesung smiled sweetly," So long I can be with my Hyuk hyung. I do not care about my Demon's energy at all. Furthermore, Hyung is so powerful and he can protect me. Hyung like me right?" Hyesung patted his cheeks gently," I wish I could be with hyung for the rest of my life...."

"Hyesung will become a human soon?" Hyuk muttered behind a pillar while hearing Hyesung talking to himself. "He will no longer be a 9 tails fox Demon?"

Hyuk closed his eyes and when he opened them again, a slight hesitation flashed in his iris. It was just for a very brief second and he returned to his expressionless face, cold and determined. Hyuk clutched his sword tightly.

Hyuk walked off. He stopped a disciple," Find Hyesung and tell him to meet me at the stream."

It was full moon night and Hyesung was waiting patiently by a boulder. He was full of anticipation and a bit of nervousness. He had mastered the sword skills and Hyuk promised to present him with a sword that he made specially for him.

Hyuk came with the sword and Hyesung's smile greeted him. The crimson line on Hyesung's forehead was brightly shown under the moonlight.

"Hyung, I mastered the sword skill!" Hyesung skipped up to Hyuk.

Hyuk smiled faintly and waved his hands, fine string sprang out and bound Hyesung's hands and legs. The string as if it had a life on its own, wound Hyesung onto the boulder.

"Hyung?" Hyesung was surprised.

"The situation with the Demon realm is getting out of hand and I had no choice." Hyuk lowered his head, fisted his palm and the string tighten around Hyesung.

"5 years ago when you came to the Sect, I knew that it was Destiny. The long lost myth of your elixir surfaced again. Thus, 'Spirit of Soul' could resurface the Mortal realm once more."

Hyesung turned pale," You knew..... You knew all this years..... You..."

"Else, how could I persuade the late Teacher to accept you into our Sect." Hyuk continued," Now, it's the crucial situation and we needed 'Spirit of Soul'."

"But hyung, you said it's a myth and not real...."

"It is a myth and not real not without your elixir." Hyuk closed his eyes and chanted.

Hyuk's sword was drawn and numerous lights showered down and concentrated above Hyesung. Once Hyuk swinged his sword, Hyesung would vanish.

Hyesung recalled the first time he saw Hyuk. At that time, Hyuk was diligently creating his sword from dawn to dusk. Even when blisters appeared on his palms, Hyuk shown no sign of stopping. The determination in those dark iris pained Hyesung. Slowly, Hyesung started to get closer to Hyuk, helped him to finish the sword with just the pure intention to see a smile on Hyuk's face.

Who was the ruthless man in front of Hyesung? Hyuk was not seeing Hyesung as a human but purely a Demon whose elixir he was seeking after. Hyesung closed his eyes. Till this moment, he could not believe that those times that they spent together was a trap.

At this juncture, a few shadows appeared. They were from Hyesung's clan.

"Kyo! Your Demonic power is still there and you can fight him!"

Hyuk created a barrier shield and shut the other foxes out. He spoke coldly," Fox Demon, I knew that you are not weak. Battle it out now!"

"Fox Demon!"...... He called Hyesung as Fox Demon. Hyesung smiled bitterly as tears trickled down and the fine crimson line seemed to be bleeding. Hyesung lost all will to live.

"Hyung, if it's my elixir that you want; just take it."

The light striked Hyesung and pierced through his body. The blood flowed out and his red elixir appeared and fused with Hyuk's sword. 'Spirit of Soul' resurfaced!

"Shin Hyesung... You.. and Hyuk...." I could not help to gasp out.

"This happen 2,000 years ago and my elixir was sealed inside 'Spirit of Soul' for almost a thousand years. I almost became a vicious spirit."

"Vicious spirit? What will happen?"

"I became emotionless and kept on slaying innocent lives. Hyuk went missing thereafter they forced the Demons back into the realm. No one could control me or rather ' Spirit of Soul' except Hyuk. Unless I put down my hatred, I will only continued to wreck havoc."

"I lost hope when I gave up my elixir. After slaying lives for centuries, I became 'Spirit of Soul' totally."

I could resonate with the hurt, despair and pain in Hyesung. He was mourning for the lost love and hope.

"Hyuk hyung never betray me or even want to hurt me...."

It was a full moon night too. The moonlight shone on the earth. A flash of shadow leaped into the skies. 

The shadow came close to his sword," Hyesung, I took your life a thousand year ago to have 'Spirit of Soul' to appear. Now the Mortal realm is safe and I fulfill my Teacher's last wish. But I..... Lost everything when I lost you."

There was endless loneliness and regret in Hyuk's voice. 

"Hyesung, I call you Fox Demon then as I was just trying to made you release the full power of your elixir.... You are everything to me. I am no longer alive and my spirit could not bear the thoughts of you sufferings here. Appease Hyesung. If there is after life, I wish to be with you again..."

'Spirit of Soul' trembled--- A beautiful kind Fox Demon was sobbing hard.

"Hyuk hyung knew that I would turn into evil spirit a thousand years later but he could bear to destroy 'Spirit of Soul' even when he died. His spirit lingered on earth as he wanted to atonished for the actions he did against me. He rather forsake his last bit of Soul and created the barrier shield just to prevent me from committing more sins. I put down my hatred and I was re borne. I had been seeking Hyuk's afterlife and I found him."

"Junghyuk. He is the reincarnation of your Hyuk?" I whispered nervously

 Shin Hyeaung nodded. " I told you everything and I believe you have something to say to me."

"I promised my superior that I will have you gone within 3 days else my side will send the elite squad after you...."

"Just a word from you to have me leave here?" Shin Hyesung smiled devishly.  " You Demon Slayer are unreasonable."

"Shin Hyesung!" I yelled in fit of frustration.

Jung Hyuk peeped his head out of the room and showed the empty plate," Hyung can I come out?"

Shin Hyesung waved at him, motioning him to come out.

Jung Hyuk looked at me and at Shin Hyesung," What have you two been talking till my hyung yelled?"

"Your Dongwan hyung want me to leave the entertainment industry."

Jung Hyuk tilted his head and looked at Shin Hyesung," Why did you object to it?"

Shin Hyesung chuckled and ruffled Jung Hyuk's hair," I did not say that I am refusing to the proposal."

I stared at Shin Hyesung.

Shin Hyesung smiled," Can you give me a week's time for me to settle everything and I will quit."

Shin Hyesung held press conference and announced that he was quitting the showbiz because he intended to further his studies abroad. This shocked the entertainment industry and he was the hot topic for about 2 months.

After Shin Hyesung announced his leaving, I was breathing easily. Minwoo dropped by my office and brought me a cup of my favourite coffee and cheesecake.

"Dongwan ah, though you lost a young pretty face idol,  there are still plenty of pretty faced idols out there. So you can still be the weird ahjussi to drool over them."

...... I felt like strangling Lee Minwoo.

Just when I assumed that everything had settled, I saw the headline in the entertainment taloid news online."Shin Hyesung is seen together with a tall handsome guy  at foreign country." Many speculated that the unknown male to be his secret lover and he was not from the entertainment industry. Hence, the real reason for him quitting was to be with his lover. I was curious and I zoomed in on the photographs and to my horror, he was Junghyuk.

I frantically called Jung Hyuk's numbers and my call was picked up after several rings. The moment it was answered, I heard Jung Hyuk's whining, " Hyung I am at Paris. Overseas call is expensive for me and can you Skype me instead?"

I was furious," Mun Junghyuk, why are you in Paris with Shin Hyesung! Don't tell me that you two are dating?"

Jung Hyuk was silent and he stuttered," Dating.... no we are not...." Jung Hyuk lowered his voice," Hyesungie invited me to tour round the world and how can I pass this chance."

"Hyesungie? Since when you are so close to him? You dare to lie to me that you two aren't dating? You better come home this instant!" I shouted in my phone. Suddenly the reception became bad and the speaker was not Junghyuk anymore.

Shin Hyesung was in a pleasant mood," Don't worry about Hyukkie's safety, Hyung. Not that I am a show off but I believe only a handful fellas in the 3 realms can win me in battle."

I was even more furious after hearing Shin Hyesung's voice," What the hell are you calling me hyung! No matter what, you can't target my cousin or rather my donsaeng!"

"Hello hello hello.. The reception is very bad. Hyung, to thank you for accepting me your your future brother - in - law,  I am telling you an important thing."

I sensed seriousness in his tone," What is it?"

"The barrier shield is just something that you mankind used in deceiving yourself to get a peace of mind. Do not pin too high hope on it."

Shin Hyesung's words sent shivers down my spines. After saying this, he hung up and I was in deep thoughts for a long time. I looked out of the window, gazing at the invisible barrier shield in the skies and I was in silent.
