Technically, he’s busy putting in patients’ names and making sure nobody is dying while he’s in charge (except for that one in Cardiac 1 – that man is pretty much a goner by now), but he’s still waiting ever so patiently for that phantom nurse to walk in through the ambulance bay and brighten up his day with his cute little kitten smile.   He tunes into Sehun giving the night nurse a report about one of the pediatric patients, and he gives a solemn sigh. Poor kid, he thinks. “The girl in pediatric room 101 is 15 years old and was caught ‘doing the do’ by her mother,” Sehun mumbles with a shrug.   “Well, that .”   “Yeah, so,” Sehun trails off, looking around for who Chanyeol knows is Zitao, “There’s that. The others are cold symptoms and nausea, vomiting so they should be fine.” He visibly brightens when he sees Zitao walk in through the ambulance bay doors before looking to the other nurse he’s currently talking to. “Any questions? The others except that girl should be discharged soon.”   The other looks behind her before she chuckles, shaking her head and making her way to go get a cup of coffee. “No. Go get him.”   “Thanks,” Sehun offhandedly murmurs, quickly making his way for his boyfriend who smiles at him.   “Let me clock in first then walk you out,” Zitao mumbles into his ear before walking past him to get to where Baekhyun is impatiently waiting by the desk. The soft words make a small smile involuntarily crawl up Sehun’s lips and he walks back with him to stand next to Chanyeol instead.   “Hurry up, you slow poke!” Baekhyun suddenly calls out, and Zitao simply waves him off, making his way over to him languidly just to piss him off.   The smile on Sehun’s face makes Chanyeol rolls his eyes as he continues finishing his own triage notes of the ambulance patients before he clocks out and leaves for the day. His gaze catches on the university logo on Sehun’s white nursing school coat though before he sighs. “You sicken me.”   “You need love in life.”   Chanyeol stares at his friend. “What kind of comeback was that?”   Sehun shrugs, smile falling off his face as he turns to look at his older friend. “One that needs to be said.”   Chanyeol continues to stare at him for a few seconds, not understanding him at all, until he sighs again and turns back to his computer, knowing very well it’s getting close to 7:30 and he hasn’t even caught sight of Luhan, Yifan, or Jongdae yet. Did he miss them?   “I mean,” Sehun continues on as if there was never a beat of silence between them, “I haven’t been here very long, but even I can tell you haven’t had a date in a long time.” Chanyeol unconsciously frowns at the thought. Was he really that obvious? “You’re always coming solo to parties all of us invite you to.”   “You don’t need another person to make you happy.”   “Although I do give you credit for being so happy being single,” Sehun adds next before Zitao interrupts him.   “But it’d be nice, right?” the other suddenly asks, walking around to stand next to Sehun and gently place his chin on his shoulder, “We’re exceptionally happy.”   “You’re exceptionally gross,” Baekhyun counters back, walking up to them to stare at Sehun, “Did you clock out yet?”   Sehun looks at him confused for a moment before his eyes widen in realization, “Crap!” He turns to Zitao who laughs and points to his free desk.   “The window’s already open.”   “You’re the best!” Sehun exclaims out before quickly walking over to input his work ID number so he can clock out.   Sehun really shouldn’t have a work ID yet, but the kid is bright and has made such a good impression on Boa, Kyungsoo, and Sooman that they made an exception in his case. Baekhyun rolls his eyes at the irony but there’s a hint of a smile on his face before gesturing to someone behind him. He smiles at Jongdae as he puts his arm around his shoulders and leans into Chanyeol’s personal space. “How about going on a date with Jongdae here?”   “Okay,” Jongdae instantly calls out, carefully cradling his Styrofoam cup of coffee with both hands, “I know I’m pretty new to most of the day shift, but what did I just walk into?”   “Dating between employees is forbidden,” Chanyeol murmurs back, trying to keep himself distracted even though the tips of his ears are turning red in embarrassment.
