Junmyeon yawns as he sits in the chair next to the physicians’ desks. He’s leaning against his side of the counter and is close to falling asleep if it weren’t for Hakyeon bringing him a cup of coffee at 5:30 in the morning. He turns to give him a grateful smile before he reaches out to gingerly hold the Styrofoam cup in his hands. “Thanks, Hakyeon.”   “Yeah,” Hakyeon waves back, giving him a curious stare, “Why are you even here this early?”   Junmyeon shrugs, blowing into his cup slowly before taking a tentative sip. He releases a sigh when it slightly burns down his throat. “Got stuck with the insane early shift this morning.”   “Ah,” the other answers back before giving him a sympathetic pat on the shoulder and going off to check on his remaining patient, “Hopefully the day goes by fast then.”   “Thanks,” Junmyeon breathes out, going back to staring out into space while simultaneously trying to avoid annoying Qian charting on her patients right beside him.       Junmyeon jolts awake when he feels someone tap his shoulder. His eyes widen but he almost blinks immediately afterwards, trying to understand where he is. He looks to his side to see Jia giving him a soft smile before pointing to the work phone near the corner of the desk where he’s seated. “You have a phone call.”   “I do?” he questions back, more confused than anything. He runs a hand through his hair, frowning a bit as he tries to get his mind in order before answering the phone. “What time is it?”   “The day shift is starting to trickle in.”   And just on cue, he can hear Chanyeol’s raspy, morning voice filling up the collective quietness of the station.   “Just answer the phone. You don’t need to particularly look good for it.”
  Junmyeon gives the nurse an incredulous look before picking up the phone and clicking on the blinking line. “Junmyeon from IT speaking.”   “You’re at work without me?” comes a soft, sleepy voice from the other line and it immediately makes Junmyeon’s heart swell and a smile to crawl onto his face. He can hear Jia laughing softly behind him before walking away to let them have their privacy.   “I tried to wake you up this morning telling you I got stuck with this shift last minute.”   “But it was supposed to be our day off today.”   The smile won’t leave his face. “I know, but I promise I’ll make it up to you when I get home.”   “When are you coming home?” How does he sound so adorable so early in the morning?   “Around two in the afternoon,” Junmyeon quietly answers back, looking down into his half-full cup of cold coffee, “Go back to sleep. You had a rough day yesterday.”   “But I want you to be here,” Yixing barely whines and Junmyeon can tell he’s close to falling asleep already.   “Rest, Xing,” Junmyeon mumbles back just as he feels a ‘good morning’ pat on his back. He looks over his shoulder to see Chanyeol giving him a tired smile. He doesn’t hear a response back immediately from his boyfriend, and he thinks Yixing has already fallen asleep. “Xing?”   “Cuddle me when you get home, okay?” comes the delayed response and Junmyeon chuckles at the polite demand.   “Of course. Goodnight, Xing.”   “Night, Myeon.”   “I swear you two are grossly cute it’s sickening,” Baekhyun suddenly comments as he clocks in across the station and makes his desk presentable and clean for himself, “I mean. I guess you two are insanely cute so it makes up for it, but seriously? It’s also really gross.”   Junmyeon just releases a deep sigh. How can Baekhyun already talk so much so early in the morning?       “So,” Baekhyun starts off, busy putting in information and scanning pages needed for patients going upstairs to the floor, “Are you into guys?”   Minseok eyes the man, sitting in the chair across from him and watching as he focuses on the computer screen for his job.
