He always got to breakfast first.
And she was there that day.
Sitting.
Picking at her food.
Kai didn't teleport.
He ran.
"Yuri!"
The girl didn't turn, he he hugged her anyways.
Kai hugged her, his face buried in her hair.
"I'm sorry," he said, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you."
Tears began to well up in his eyes.
"It's not gonna happen again. I'm going to protect you. Everyone is. We're a family. We stay together."
But Yuri never moved.
She never even reacted.
Kai turned Yuri around to look at him.
He was met with hollow eyes.
Eyes that were sad.
Eyes that were angry.
Eyes that were afraid.
Eyes that were betrayed.
Yuri stared at him.
Yuri had been broken.
"Yuri?" Kai whispered, shaking her shoulders lightly.
But the little girl did nothing.
"Yuri." Kai said, louder, shaking her slightly harder.
He didn't get a response.
"Yuri!" He yelled, shaking her frantically.
When she contimued to stare with her dead eyed look, he cracked.
"YURI!" Kai screamed, shaking the little girl violently.
Tears began to stream down his face.
"YURI!"
"YURI!"
"YURI!"
He continued to scream and shake her, to no avail.
Chen walked in to see Kai violently shaking Yuri, screaming her name at her.
Chen froze, horrified.
Then he ran.
He barreled at Kai, hand out stretched in front of him.
When his hand connected with Kai shoulder, sparks flew into the air.
Kai was thrown against the wall, leaving a small dent.
Chen's hair stood on end, the air around him crackling with electricity.
Yuri fell forward, eyes rolling back into her head.
Chen caught her.
He held her for a long time, staring murder
