It’s late at night, when the stars come out and when the skies turn a dewy blue, just how Joonmyun likes it. He’s currently in his bed, maybe trying to sleep but maybe not, because he’s just distorted into thoughts that just linger over the possibilities of what’ll happen to him and the boy who’s lying right besides him. But not too far, because he doesn’t want to get too delved into the future like how Sehun had.

Joonmyun rustles, turns here and there, takes a look outside through the skies, and then just turns towards the blonde-bleached boy who has his hair sticking up from weird angles, adjacent or not. And he breaths, watching Sehun’s chest just inhale, and then contract, inhales again, and then breathes out through his nose so adorably. A smile’s seen, and Joonmyun just takes the time to thank what’s been done to him, and he just snuggles up against Sehun, head underneath the chin, and just arms wrapped around the neck.

But then it gets really hot, so he turns around to have his back facing Sehun’s chest, and then Sehun rustles, turns his pillow to its cold side, and then throws his arms around Joonmyun’s abdomen, pulling him from behind and just holding him from there, the sounds of sleep soon coming back.

Smile, Joonmyun does and he just trails his fingers across Sehun’s arm, ending on his hand, somewhere along the veins. And he just repeatedly does that, tracing along the veins that protrude like something so cool, and how the carolina blue just intrudes into skin, pops out almost-like and just stays there, water and blood.

Eventually, Sehun notices and he just grumbles, because he’s still half-asleep and he wakes up to his boyfriend just caressing his veins. “Hyung, go to sleep,” he complains, softly, and he just pushes his chin deeper into Joonmyun’s shoulder, because he knows Joonmyun likes that.

The shorter groans. “I can’t sleep, Sehun. I keep on thinking about the future, so I tried to stop and I just found your veins as a distraction. Sorry, I’ll--”

He doesn’t finish his sentence, because Sehun turns him around and just buries his face into his chest, and Joonmyun just inhales the smells of waterfalls, carolina blues in waters, and just remedies that’ll last them through the clouds.

“Go to sleep, hyung. I love you, and our future will always be like that, no matter what. Now goodnight.”

And then the sounds of snoring becomes apparent again, and Joonmyun just lays there, appalled, but eventually he just smiles, and just buries himself further into Sehun’s chest.

“Goodnight.”

And that’s how the colors of carolina blue became so meaningful to Joonmyun, the veins just travelling through the skins and just ending against the skins.
