Chapter 10 

"What are your plans for tomorrow Bom-unnie?" Nana asked curiously.

Bom turned towards the freshman and answered "I'm scheduled to get my driver's license." This got the whole group's attention as they all turned around to listen. 

"Really? That sounds exciting! Are you nervous?" She asked as she turned around whole-bodily with interest.

Bom's cheeks heated up a bit at all the attention she was receiving from everyone, a habit that was slowly fading away the more she hung out with the group. "Uh, yeah. A little bit."

"You shouldn't be. Dongwook said you've been driving like a natural these past few days. I'm sure you'll be fine, Bom." Se-ho reassured her with a smile.

She looked over at Dongwook with a surprised face, which he became amused by and let out "Don't look at me like that Bom. You're doing great for a beginner. You're actually the best driver's ed student we've had in a while."

"Really?" Bom asked curiously as she unconsciously leaned over in interest. She thought she was alright but she didn't think she was that good.

"I agree. He recently taught Kang-joon and that was a struggle. He was the worse driver in history." Minwoo confessed which earned a laugh from everyone, including the sophomore himself.

Soo-hyun shook her head with an amused smirk and rubbed Kang-Joon's shoulder gently. "Poor Kang-joon."

"Yeah, but don't get too confident just yet Bom. We still got one more driving lesson later on today so don't do anything Kang-joon would do." Dongwook teased with a smile.

She felt her heartbeat quicken as she showered his bright smile towards her and she couldn't help but laugh softly. "Okay."

As Bom drove through the city with Dongwook she couldn't help but feel at ease around him. She felt warm and fuzzy inside, like she always did when he was around, and butterflies kept flying all around her stomach.

Suddenly she heard his phone go off and as she looked at him before turning her eyes to the road again, he looked over at her apologetically before answering the phone. "Hello? Oh, hey mother."

Bom snuck glances at him as he talk to his mom in a respectful yet loving tone. She must have asked him something embarrassing because he looked at Bom and blushed a bit before looking back out the passenger's window while saying "Omma! Not now."

'He's so cute when he's embarrassed.' Bom thought before forcing herself to keep her eyes on the road ahead, blushing at the thought. She then thought to herself 'So this is what having a crush feels like, huh?'

She wouldn't know because truth is, she never had a crush on anyone before. She had only read about it in books, visually in movies, and verbally from her aunt a few times, who always said that the feeling was different for everyone.

Surprisingly, Bom had never had any type of relationship with boys due to the cruel treatment she received at her old school. At first boys were always trying to talking to her and ask her on dates but once the trio started bullying her, they had stopped as quickly as they had started. So while the girls bullied her, the boys simply ignored her.

And even though she had boys here that she considered her friends now, none of them ever cause her heart to react the way Dongwook did. She didn't know if it reacted that way because of how nice he was to her or if it was how warm his eyes became when he looked at her. All she knew is that it never ceased to beat triple time and that the butterflies were gliding inside of her continuously.

"Bommie?"

"Hmm?" She answered as she looked over to see that he wasn't on the phone anymore. 

He smiled at her and said "Would you like to stop somewhere and eat for a bit?" Bom eyes widen at his question and she looked over at him with a surprised look. 

This caused him to laugh for a while before struggling to ask "Why are you looking at me like that? Aren't you hungry?" 

Bom blushed a bit, knowing well enough that she was since she didn't eat at lunch today. But to save herself from embarrassment, she switched it back to him. "I don't know? Are you?"

"Kinda. I guess that's why I asked." He remarked with a laughing smirk before looking back at her, wondering if she disliked with the idea. Before he could ask her, she answered. 

"Okay."

He decided to a bit. "Okay what?"

She shocked her as a smile appeared on her face. "Okay. We can go eat Oppa." She said before laughing a bit.

"So, what are your plans after high school?" Dongwook asked as he took a bite of his hamburger. 

"I wanna go to a 4-year college and go to law school to be an attorney. I haven't made up my mind on what type though." I answered as I took a sip of my vanilla coke before asking "What about you? You're graduating this year right?" 

"Yeah, I am. My parents want me to be a doctor but...I wanna be a high school principal." He said with a small smile on his face. "They feel like I'll make more money that way."

Bom looked up at him and smirked. "Well you can make a lot of money being a principal too. I could see you as one. You're a natural-born leader and you participate in a lot of school clubs. You are practically the school's mascot in a way." I told him as I took a bite of some of my food before adding "but I can see you being a doctor too." 

"Really?" He asked curiously.

Bom nodded her head. "Yeah. You like to help people with their problems. You never hesitate to step up to a challenge. Like I said, your a leader and you're intelligent. All your characteristics fit."

"Really? You think I should be a doctor?" He questioned as he took a sip of his drink before putting it down and pushing his plate aside.

Bom smiled softly to herself before looking him in the eye and said "I'm saying that you should be what you think will make you happy. Follow your heart." 

Dongwook stared at her for awhile before laughing a bit. "You know...this is the most I've heard you talk." 

The female's eyes widen and her face became beet red as she put her hand over and looked down embarrassingly. "I'm sorry, Dongwook-oppa."

He just smiled warmly at her and leaned back against the booth seat. "You don't have to apologize Bom. I actually like it when you talk. It lets me know that you're becoming more comfortable with me and I'm glad."

It was now Bom's turn to stare at him. She always felt the need to talk less and always be cautious about what she was about to say but DongWook seemed to not want that. He wanted her to be more open to talk to him just as he was to her. And that was fine enough.

"I'm glad too." She let out softly before staring back at her hands coyly. He just smiled warmly at her before standing up and grabbing his plate. "You done?"
She nodded her head and watched as he grabbed her plate and stacked them both while saying "I'm gonna put these in the trash and head to the restroom. You'll wait for me right?" He teased.

The black-haired girl laughed. "Of course Oppa." 

"Okay. I'll be back." He said and left.

Bom watch him as he dumped the plates in a huge garbage can and disappeared behind a corner before sighing softly to herself and took out her phone and play flappy bird to pass the time. 

After awhile Bom would looked up from her phone to see if Dongwook would appear. So far he was a no show. Soon that familiar doubtful mindset began to start. 'Maybe he's not coming back. Maybe all my talking did scare him away. But why would Dongwook do that?' 

"Ugh! Me and mouth." Bom mumbled to herself as she gather her things so that she could leave.

"Well, well, well. Look what we have here." 

Bom's body froze and her eyes widen at the sound of the familiar voice. It was the same voice that she feared for years. The very one that hunted her dreams at night.
