I woke up drenched in sweat, and my head was pounding.

"Honey, as your mother, I will do whatever I can to protect you. Let me just ask you a few questions. How much do you actually love him? Like if something were to happen and you had only two choices, which would you pick? Would you stick together through whatever the situation is or would you leave him even though it hurts, if that's what resolves it?"

"Omma, why are you becoming so serious? I know you love me and you're just trying to look out for me but I don't think Jay and I have a cliché love story you see happen in the movies. What could possibly happen to two teenagers who are just in love?"

"Reality can come crashing in honey. I would rather you get hurt a little now than a lot later on. He has his whole life planned out for him but you, you're still discovering yourself, trying to figure out your next step. But maybe your dear old omma here is just thinking too much. You will have my support every step of the way." She gave my hands a tight squeeze.

"Does your dad know about me?" I asked curiously.

"Well, no but he will soon. I've prepared one last thing for you." He said as he stood up. 

Why did I dream of that day? Family Day was supposed to be fun and it was, sort of. The night however, was unforgettable. I mean it did leave me scars to constantly remind me.

Running my fingers through my hair, I suppressed a scream that I so badly wanted to let out. There’s no need
