A/N Hey guys, in light of the tragic news that happened last week, I’ve replaced Jonghyun with Daehyun. I know he’s only a side character but I don’t want you guys and also future readers to be triggered or anything. Jonghyun is both the same guy who works at Minzy’s favourite shoe store and the guy in the advanced music class. He will now be replaced with Daehyun from B.A.P.

 “They have Mamamoo's new song yes!”

“Hey don't load too many songs, everyone else needs to sing too!”

“Hush, there’s only like 5 of us here, and we have 4 hours.”

As Luna and IU were bickering over the machine, Minzy tried her best to concentrate on anything else but her stupid thoughts, regretting the fact that she agreed to tag along to this place. She wouldn’t have agreed If it were just the three of them, but luckily IU invited the 2 other guys from her music class who were conveniently hanging around at the bar.

Even more fortunately for Minzy, it turned out that she knew one of them.

Daehyun was the same guy who worked at her favourite shoe shop and seeing him made her think this wasn't such a bad idea. She wasn't far off, as his and Zico's appearance cut Minzy and IU's conversation short, which she was more than glad about.

What worried her is that they extended the invite to Luhan (which made sense of course) and apparently, he would join them late but there was no way Minzy was planning to stay around that long.

The only other reason she felt obliged to stay out was because Luna was begging her to. Back at the bar, she texted Minzy many apologies with her phone under the table as she was discovering on the spot what IU and her connection to Luhan was through the conversation they were having.

Yes, it was a coincidence that it had to be IU of all people that befriended her good friend Luna and it was nobody’s fault, but Minzy knew she wouldn't be able to keep a straight face for long, especially since she would probably be seeing IU more often and she didn’t like the sound of that at all.

“Minzy, come on! Put in a song.”
 

Daehyun pat her shoulder, gesturing his head towards the machine at the front.

With slumped shoulders, she lightly rolled her eyes.

“Okay, If it’ll make you happy.” She stood up, not wanting to be the forever grumpy chick.

Luna and IU let go of the device when she came up and they both gave her an encouraging smile while she familiarised herself with the categories. She settled on a song and entered it in before quickly making her way back to the couch next to her shoe friend, trying to mirror his smile while they paid attention to Zico’s performance.

“shiseon ppae geureoda moge dam wa, sone japhiji anneun geon da nwa….”

Minzy awed at Zico’s laid-back and confident style of rapping. He kind of reminded her of Rap Monster, leader of the idol group Bangtan Boys that she was a huge fan of.

“He’s great isn’t he?” Daehyun grinned and nodded with her to the music.

”For sure.” She finally smiled for real, and decided she would just let herself enjoy this unexpected company.

Being here meant she didn’t have to talk to IU about anything she was uncomfortable with, so why lose herself when she could spend time relaxing, even just for a little bit?

Everybody clapped and cheered as Zico finished his little performance and it was now Luna’s turn to grab the mic. Minzy was used to hearing her sing but it still amazed her every time. She was always charming, and her voice was pleasant to listen to. As the night progressed, Minzy became fascinated in what the others’ individual colours in music. Daehyun’s voice was perfect for ballads and he was best at delivering the messages and lyrics of the songs he sang, whereas IU excelled at pop songs with fun beats and unique melodies.

With her song slowing riding up the list, Minzy felt a little nervous and sort of wished she had chose an easier one, even though the one she picked was one of her favourites.

Finally, it was her turn and everyone cheered in anticipation.

‘Finally, my girl’s time to shine!!!’ Luna cooed.

“Lee Hi’s ‘1,2,3,4’?! I love it.” Zico exclaimed.

Minzy exhaled a breath she didn’t know she was holding. Standing at the front of the room with the mic in her hand, she closed her eyes briefly as the tune started and finally she started singing.


With the exception of Luna, the room was in shock. They were all speechless at the confidence Minzy exuded and were amazed at her music colour. During the first chorus they started cheering loud for her and chanting along with parts of the song which encouraged her to get even more into her performance.

At the end when she finished the last line, Daehyun, IU and Zico stood up and clapped excitedly with their heads shaking in disbelief while Luna grinned proudly at Minzy, who was now blushing as she reverted back to her conservative side and sat back down.

‘MINZY!!!! THAT.WAS.AMAZING.’ Zico was still shaking his head. “And you’re not a music student?”


“N-No…I just sing as a small hobby.” She scratched the back of her neck nervously.

“You HAVE to sing at the opening night for the new auditorium.” Daehyun exclaimed.

“Oh my gosh yes Minzy you must!” IU walked over and grabbed her by the shoulders, surprising her. Minzy did her best not to look too uncomfortable at IU being in her personal space.

However, her face dropped after she heard the next sentence.

“I’m sure you will also be able to perform a good dancing piece with your boyfriend Sehun also!”

“Boyfriend?” Minzy blinked twice, backing away. “He’s not. You’re mistaken.”

“Oh…really? When I saw you two earlier today he sure looked like he was.” IU raised her eyebrow. “You two were totally vibing.”


“God, you should know about vibes. You sure know what you’re doing when you hang around our pretty boy Luhan.” Zico scoffed from behind.

“Guys, shut up!” She scolded, but the smirk on her face didn’t say otherwise. “He could be here any minute and I don’t want you him to hear that.”

Minzy could feel a strange lump forming in . Luckily no one caught her slightly gritted teeth when they all sat back down to watch Zico perform the next song. Luna could practically feel the raging bubble forming next to her as she observed how her red headed friend was having some sort of mental battle with herself.

“You know, you can leave soon If you want.” Luna whispered into her ear.

“I’ve been wanting to go home since I sat down at the bar.”

“Minji…” Luna sighed. “Just talk to him okay? You haven’t heard your prince’s explanation yet so don’t jump to conclusions just yet.”

Minzy closed her eyes for a moment and sighed.

“You’re right. I’ll call him tomorrow.”

Well, it seemed like she wouldn’t have to wait until tomorrow.

There was about an hour left until the Karaoke session finished and Minzy decided to excuse herself before Luhan arrived.

Too bad he was standing just 3 meters in front of her before she even left the building.

“Why are you blocking the exit?” She asked immediately, her no-filter demeanour was in full swing with the day she was having and the several daiquiris she had drunk with her friends. She was still not happy about what she witnessed earlier in the day, and even though it was not his fault she couldn’t help but act spiteful.

“You’re leaving?” Luhan seemed quite amused at her non-caring expression.

“I have a paper to write.” Minzy responded curtly, adjusting her bag on her shoulders. “So I gotta get going.”

“You’re going by yourself, at this time?” He frowned. “Let me give you a ride home then.”

“But..but you just got here.” She argued. “They’re waiting for you.”

Her prince shrugged. “I told them I’d rock up If I felt like it. They don’t have to know I changed my mind right?”

Minzy nodded slightly. “Hm. I suppose not.”

“Also, you have the capacity to write at paper at 2 in the morning?”

“No, I-“ She paused when he came closer and pressed his hand on her forehead. “I..I just didn’t want to see you.”

Her cold exterior was already melting, and she mentally scolded herself. Way to be cool Minzy, seriously.

“You didn’t want to see me?” Luhan looked genuinely hurt for a moment and she thought about apologising, until she heard him laugh.

“Someone’s a little jealous about my friendship with IU?” He chuckled, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear and watching her fail to hide her blush. “But then… what about me? Do you think it thrills me to see you pinned against the wall with Sehun hovering over you?”

Minzy gulped. 

He was right.

How could she get angry at him when she basically did the same thing as him?
 

She opened to speak but she was shushed by his finger.

“I’ll let it go because I can tell you’ve had quite a few to drink. You’re coming with me, but I’m not taking you home just yet.”

His mischievous smile was enough for her to nod a few times as she was led to his car.

Minzy wasn’t quite sure where she was being driven to. She guessed maybe a 24 hour cinema or perhaps somewhere to eat.

She wasn’t expecting this though.
 

The view before her eyes was breath taking. The stars that could never be seen on Seoul were shining so brightly in the sky. The moon’s reflection on the water looked so delicate and serene.

It made her feel at peace.

She was so lost into the view that for a moment, that she had temporarily forgotten about her troubling thoughts and about the events that occurred earlier that day.

“Do you like it?”


She glanced at Luhan standing next to her, who had his eyes focused on the view and she did the same again.

“It’s gorgeous. I didn’t know Korea had places like this.”

“It’s a little bit out of the city, but close enough for me to visit.”

“What is this place?”

This is my secret hiding place.” He offered his hand to her and she gladly took it as he led her down the grassy hill, closer towards the lake.

“Really?” Minzy chuckled. “You’re letting me know about it too then?”

 

“Sometimes, it’s nice to share secrets with people who will appreciate them as much as you do. You know what I mean?” Luhan let go when they reached the bottom of the hill and sat down on the grass, Minzy joining him.

“I do.” She beamed, inhaling and exhaling the clean air. “I’ve been feeling quite overwhelmed lately.”
 

“Tell me about it.”  Luhan laid down with his back resting on the grass.

“It’s nothing crazy, just that a lot of things are happening right now and I’m not used to my lifestyle being so busy. I’ve met a lot of new friends and well, got to meet you after wanting to for so long and I-“

“For so long?”

Minzy gulped. He wasn’t supposed to know about her being his crazy bus girl stalker, thought technically she wouldn’t exactly call it stalking. Maybe…she’d tell him in like 10 years If they still knew each other but there was no way he was going to find out any time soon.

“What? Um no I just meant after a while.” She laughed nervously. “I have friends at SM Uni and you  know one can’t go there without hearing people talk about you and sharing photos around.”

Luhan raised his eyebrow at her sudden stuttering but smiled soon again.

“Well I’m glad we met. You are one of the most charming people I’ve ever met. You really are a beautiful girl.”

Minzy could not hide her blush as her prince sat up again, reaching over to tuck a lock of hair behind her ear once more, just like he did at the Karaoke place. This was one of his habits she figured, and as much she enjoyed it, it made her grow weak and red in the face.

“Luhan……” She inched back slightly, trying to avoid that damned smile on his face. “Why do you treat me so special?”

When she asked that, he pulled back and his smile was gone. It was replaced with a neutral expression. He wasn’t looking at her anymore, but at the sky.

Unsure of what her question made him think about, she opted to do the same and kept her gaze on the moon. They were both like that for a while until Luhan spoke again.

“Many of the people I have met in my life are selfish. And most of those people are female. I don’t like a lot of girls because I’ve discovered they only like me for my face. They are not interested to know my personality, what my hobbies are, what my morals and values are. Yet they chase me endlessly and say they want to get to know me. It’s all lies in the end.”

He closed his eyes.

“At first, it might’ve been a compliment to find out that people thought I was really handsome and pretty. But there’s a price to pay. What none of those shallow people realised is that I had so much more to give than just my face, but I’ve had my trust betrayed by so many girls who were “there for me” before. And that’s why I decided, those kinds of people are not worth my time at all and I’d rather devote my attention to a girl who wants to actually get to know me. I want to be with a girl that I’m chasing, and not the other way around.”

Minzy didn’t say anything, taking in all the information and processing her Prince’s thoughts. When she turned to stare at him, he was already looking back at her with an unreadable expression.
 

“You are different. Yes you are a fangirl, and you wanted to be my friend but you also wanted to know me. To understand me. And see what kind of a person I was. You didn’t create an image of how I’m supposed to be as a person and I like you a lot for that reason. I’m very attracted to you.”

The moon shone strong and bright, hiding none of his perfect features away from her. Minzy’s chest burned and she felt the rhythm of her heart beat increase with the way he stared at her.

Luhan truly was a prince.

No, she did not think about it in the superficial way this time. She understood his words very well. It is a commonly known fact that people who are extremely good looking are often misunderstood, and they are not able to properly voice out their thoughts and feelings to anyone. People think they don’t have any problems just because they’re good looking.

Unfortunately, the reality of it is not that black and white.

Constantly being put under the spotlight, having to behave a certain way because there are eyes always watching them and that alone, is enough pressure to drive them into a corner.

“Speechless, again?” He interrupted her thoughts, stifling a laugh as he ruffled her hair.

“No….I just…Thankyou for bringing me here.” She managed to reply, her cheeks flushed with his confession just moments ago. Would she call it a confession, or something else? She figured she would decide later.

“And also…thankyou for telling me your thoughts. I can only imagine how long it’s been since you’ve been able to express those thoughts to someone, besides Sehun of course. And this place really is the perfect location to get away from it all.”
 

“Thankyou for listening Minzy. I went on a big of a tangent though..I’m sorry.” Luhan scratched his head. "It would be my pleasure to listen to your troubles.”


“Yes, I would really like that.” Minzy grinned. “But maybe…not tonight. Please do take me here again, will you?”

”Mm, I can take you here anytime you want. But….. you have to promise me one thing.” Luhan leaned closer towards her, cutely tilting his head.

 

“A-And what’s that?” She stuttered, failing to keep a poker face.

“You can only come here when you’re with me. Not anybody else.”

For a moment, Minzy flashbacked to a scene from when she was a child.

She had read and watched many versions of Disney princess stories with her older sister. She always joked that she would someday meet her Prince Charming and spend their time together going to mystical places only they know about.
 

Being alone together with Luhan right now.

Being at this lake, this secret place of his.

A place he showed her that he wants nobody else to see.

She couldn’t help but wonder If perhaps her silly words as a child were becoming a reality.

“I promise.” She muttered quietly, the butterflies in her stomach overpowering her mind and body as Luhan reached over to place a chaste kiss on her forehead.

A/N: I’m sorry this chapter lacks Sehunzy but I have to let Luhan and Minzy get chummy too so don’t kill me XD Minzy needs some time with the prince, especially after being a paranoid little girl from seeing IU latch onto him.

Btw Merry Christmas to you all, and early Happy New Year!!! <3 Another year has come and gone and I still haven’t finished lol O.o My new years resolution is finish this story within the next 6 months….I’m quitting my job so hopefully I’ll have some more time ahaha. See you all very soon and I hope you’re all happy and safe. Big hugs to those who are not in the best place right now…as that was for about a week. A few days ago I started feeling better and that’s what made me come back to write something for you guys. I love you all.
