That evening, MinYoung and the kids gathered at the living room while waiting for MinSeok to come down. He had just returned from the meeting and was having his shower before changing into his formal clothes. MinYoung and the kids were already dressed before MinSeok got home so now they were just waiting for MinSeok to be done.

Young HeeJun, who was dressed smartly in his black suit with a bow tie, was sitting leisurely on the sofa while amusing himself with his nintendo game. He was looking all comfortable with his suit as he had wore them many times already each time he attended the company’s event with his parents.

Since he was very small, HeeJun was brought to many formal occasions either by his parents or his grandmother. It was always a huge pride for his family to bring him along to these events since he was the family’s first and only grandson. Grandma was the one who always brought him along as she couldn’t help but to show off to others her grandson that would inherit all of her family’s wealth once HeeJun got older.

Now, back to the current situation, MinYoung in the mean time was fixing her earrings and necklace before her eyes caught the sight of ByulHee fidgeting with her dress. The girl was sitting on the next couch and was looking uncomfortable with what she was wearing. She kept shifting in her seat and was looking restless.

“Are you alright, love ?” MinYoung asked out of concern with knitted eyebrows. She had been noticing ByulHee’s discomfort for a few minutes now and she couldn’t stop herself from asking anymore. From what she saw ByulHee was looking very disturbed and she would like to know very much about what was going on in the girl’s head.

ByulHee nodded her head a little at the question but soon couldn’t hide that she was lying as it was so obvious. She stood up slowly and timidly walked towards MinYoung who looked at her with worry as ByulHee was standing in front of her.

“Can I please not go to the event ?” ByulHee asked softly with her head low, not making any eye contact with MinYoung. She had her hands hid behind her back and kept her gaze on the soft carpet.

MinYoung was taken aback with ByulHee’s question and gently pulled ByulHee to sit beside her. She was confused with this sudden change of plans as MinSeok would be down any moment and there would be no time for extra discussion.

“What ? Why don’t you want to go ? Are you sick ?” MinYoung asked and searched for ByulHee’s face.  A part of her felt a little sad after hearing ByulHee’s refusal to go with them as she had been excited the whole day of knowing that ByulHee was going with them.

MinYoung had wanted to show her so much what MinSeok and her had achieved all these years and wanted to convince her more that they didn’t leave her with Chen for no reason.

ByulHee shook her head and said, “I’m not sick. I just don’t feel like I want to go. I don’t think this kind of event suits me. Besides, I know nobody there. And I don’t know what to do there as well.”

“She’s right.” HeeJun added without looking up from his PSP. “It would be best if she doesn’t follow. You and dad will be busy with the guests and I’m always fine on my own. She will be like a lost lamb on her own.” He said while adding a mocking laugh at the end.

ByulHee exchanged her glance from HeeJun then to her mother and nodded at what HeeJun said. “See ? Even HeeJun thinks so. Then can I just stay at home ?” ByulHee asked with a hopeful look in her eyes, hoping that MinYoung will agree to it.

With a heavy sigh, MinYoung shook her head at ByulHee’s request and said, “I’m sorry ByulHee, but you have to come with us. This is the time when you need to get used to your new life. This kind of events are one of the things you need to get yourself adapted to. Soon, you will be taking over the company as well and it is crucial for your father and I to get yourself prepared. One of them is by attending these occasions. Considering how long has it been that you’ve been living away from us.”

ByulHee was about to protest again but she was cut by MinYoung who continued, “Besides, tonight is a special night. We are going to announce you as our daughter later at the event. It’s a part of tonight’s agenda.”

MinYoung’s words caught HeeJun’s ears and the kid’s eyes widened in shock. ByulHee felt her tongue tied but again she didn’t get the chance to say anything as HeeJun already bombarded MinYoung with questions, “What ? Why ?! Why are you going to announce her later ? Are you insane ?!”

“Kim HeeJun !” MinSeok called his son sternly as he walked down the stairs. He was dressed smartly in his own suit and heard HeeJun’s protests while he was walking down. “If I hear you talk like that to your mother once more, I will raise your punishments.” MinSeok warned once he reached the living room, where the three of them were sitting.

Afraid of his father’s wrath, HeeJun mumbled an almost unaudible ‘sorry’ while hanging his head low. During times like this, it would be best not to make his father mad as MinSeok’s punishments were not bear thinking about.

MinYoung then stood up while holding ByulHee’s hand who automatically stood too and said, “Well, looks like everyone’s ready. We should get going now to avoid the traffic.”

Few moments later, everyone was already in the car and headed to the company for the event. HeeJun tried to sit as far as possible from ByulHee in the car and never spared her a glance. ByulHee who didn’t seem to mind only looked out the window the whole time as they were passing the roads that she had never been to before.

Too mesmerized with the beautiful city lights, ByulHee didn’t realize that the car had stopped in front of a big and tall building. Her jaw dropped as she took in the sight of the huge building which soon she learned to be her family’s. She could see banners hanging on the walls and on the lamp posts saying it was the company’s 12th anniversary and decorations were put up as well, in celebrating the company’s event.

ByulHee got out of the car and her eyes hadn’t blinked. MinYoung appeared beside her and took her hand before giving it a little squeeze. “Are you ready to meet some new people ?” She asked, while looking at ByulHee with a smile. ByulHee met her eyes and slowly nodded, even though she couldn’t hide her nervousness in meeting new people.

Holding on tight to MinYoung’s hand, ByulHee and her mother walked towards the main entrance followed by MinSeok and HeeJun from behind. The cold air from the air conditioner brushed against ByulHee’s skin and she shivered as she took in the sight of the building’s beautiful interior.

The decorations for that day’s event completely took her breath away and she knew it must have cost a lot of money and time. And yet she was only looking at the lobby, not yet the full hall and ByulHee knew it must have been decorated much more beautiful than this.

They entered an elevator and exited it on the 12th floor, which the hall was at. The hall was a special and spacious room that the company will use for special and important occasions. The size of the hall was almost half the size of the 12th floor, just how wide and spacious it was.

A man dressed in black suit opened the door of the hall for them and ByulHee could hear an instrumental song was playing at the background, with the sound of people talking to each other. MinSeok and HeeJun entered first followed by ByulHee and MinYoung.
