My First Love Story
My Second Chance at LoveTaeyang’s POV
I leaned back against the chair and tapped my pencil
on my cheek. Summer had flew by. Soon, I would have
to start at a new school with a new reputation as… the
new kid. Ugh, how long had it been since I had to deal with
that? Five years ago? I turned and saw a photo of me and
Ga Eun smiling at the beach. As soon as I saw it, I felt a flood
of pain and hurt wash through my body. I crossed the room
in four big strides and slammed the picture to the ground.
The glass shattered as it hit the floor. I fell to my knees and
put my hands on the sides of my head. Why? Why had Ga Eun
did that to me? Her name brought back memories: holding
hands as we walked along the park; her hitting me every time
I said something stupid; a special kiss on my 16th birthday;
and the day she left me for good. That was the worst memory
of them all. I still remember that day; it was the last day of my
sophomore year…
“Hi Taeyang! Are you doing anything after school? ” “Yeah, sorry,”
I replied to the unusually bubbly girl. “Oh, ok,” she said dejectedly.
It was almost as if I had ruined her plans. My friends whooted,
but I didn’t think much of it. I was used to the attention that girls
gave me. Why shouldn’t I be? I was Taeyang, the most popular
and best looking boy in school. Everywhere I went, I turned heads.
Of course, it shouldn’t matter that I caught girls’ eyes. I already had
a special girl of my own: Ga Eun. She was the most beautiful
girl I had ever seen in my entire life. With her perfect smile, her
cherry blossom scent, the way she dazzled every boy, she was
the ideal girl for me. I smiled as I thought about her. “Hey, Taeyang’s
doing it again,” I heard my friend WooHyun say. I blinked a
couple of times and looked at them. “What were you guys saying?”
They all laughed. “We were talking about how you daydream
about Ga Eun all day long,” DaWook said.
“I do not,” I argued, but I knew it was pointless. Ga Eun was
always on my mind. “So what are you doing during the summer?”
I asked, trying to change to subject. “I don’t know yet. Bet you are
gonna spend the whole summer with your face all over Ga Eun’s!”
WooHyun laughed, and DaWook joined in. “Ha ha. Very funny. But no.
Actually, I’ve been meaning to tell you guys this, but, I’m moving
to New York for a year,” I said slowly. “What?!” they both exclaimed.
“Yeah, I’m gonna go to school there, and when I come back, I’ll be
going to a different high school.” They both looked at the ground for
an incredibly long time until the silence was too hard to take.
“Are you guys okay?” I asked. “Yeah, it’s just that, things will be really
different without you,” DaWook said, and WooHyun nodded. “I know,
but….” I trailed off as I saw Ga Eun running toward me. I smiled.
“Oppa!” she called loudly. Everyone standing in the hallway heard
her and turned to watch her run over to me. She looped her arms
around my shoulder and said “Tae Tae! I really need to talk to you.”
Her nickname irritated me sometimes, but I soon grew used to it.
“Go ahead. What’s up?” I asked, curious. “I want to break up,” she
said. The whole hall went quiet. “What?” I asked, unsure if I had
heard her right. “You heard me. I want to break up,” she repeated.
“Whhyyy?” I stammered. “I just don’t think that we’re meant to
be. Besides, you’re moving anyway. I’m not just going to sit here
and wait for you,” she said. Everybody was dead silent when
they heard what she said. “So? Are we through?” she asked.
I forced myself to speak through me shock. “Yeah. Apparently,
the girl of my dreams wasn’t who I thought she was.” “Alright.
Well, see you around. Or not,” she said. With a quick hair flip, she
walked down the hall and into the cafeteria. All the students who
had heard our conversation slowly walked away. Only WooHyun
and DaWook stood with me. “What was that?” DaWook asked.
“I don’t know, but that girl is a ,” WooHyun said. “Hey, Taeyang,
are you okay?” they asked worriedly. “I’m fine,” I said, though I was
still in shock. Everything I thought Ga Eun had felt for me was a lie.
I was hurt about that, but I was mostly shocked by the fact that I still loved her.
