Chapter Seven

What happened?

Please read note at the bottom of this chapter.

Dara laughed at the comedians G-Dragon impersonations. As she looked over, Seungri was laughing too. She had missed him. All she wanted was for him to apologize, not this. Never this. She continued to laugh, hoping it looked sincere. At any other time she would have fallen onto the floor laughing, but now?

She looked up to see her leader and dongsaeng dancing with Taeyang. They appeared to be having fun. She had always that the two would make a cute couple, and had even contemplated asking them to double date with her and Seungri. She knew that the fact that she was with Seungri would overshadow that fact that she had asked her younger to go on a date with Youngbae though. The younger was very protective of her teammates and she did not want any of them getting into trouble.

As “moves like jagger” played, she stood and danced in place. She watched her youngest bandmate danced with Se7en and began to smile at the situation. She looked around and saw that everyone else was sitting. She had stood up and was now alone. As she was about to sit back down someone popped up beside her. Seungri got up and began to dance with her.  She looked over at him and gave him a nod, hoping her gratitude would show.

They announced TOP and GDragon, and soon it was her and Seungri that were called out. As they were dancing, he had begun to imitate her cute dances from the previous segment. She joined him in the dance. As they returned and Bom and Gummy came out, she only thought about the dance. Had he been paying attention to her the whole time?

They talked to Minzy and asked if she had chosen her ideal as Se7en to divert away from the fact that she was in a relationship. She couldn’t help but look at Seungri. Won Bin? He was handsome and all but not her style.  He was too old. She liked younger men because they made her feel younger. She had to grow up fast, and she liked being able to act immature.

As Minzy discussed the fact that G-Dragon had prince syndrome, she cringed. She began to shake in her seat. She looked over and Seungri was doing the same. This is something else she missed. When she acted silly, rather than judge, he joined her. She wanted someone she could be silly with.

As the next file was given she felt someone tap her, she looked over and Seungri asked her to cringe with him, so they did. Happiness, elation, joy, she missed all these emotions that coursed through her as they did this little thing together. All too suddenly it ended when Minzy called her out.

“Dara unnie has an x-file of her own.”

“When we were talking about G-Dragon just now, it’s right.” She stood up. If Seungri could make her jealous, well she could try to make him jealous too. “It’s true he is narcissistic.”

As others began to imitate her accusation, Seungri stood up and pointed at G-Dragon along with her. This was not working out that well. He was playing along not getting jealous.

“In an interview I had in the past, I had to choose between GD and TOP as my ideal type. Because G-Dragon carried my snowboard for me, it was really touching so I chose him. But after that, every time I saw him he would make fun of me. ‘Why? You could have just told me yourself. Why did you have to do it through a broadcast?’”

“It’s a habit.” G-Dragon laughed at the situation he was in.

                “Seungri”

                “Ne” he responded.

“Please reveal some of the secrets that should be exposed. I’m sure you have them.” The host spoke and with that Dara slowly sat down. She hoped she had made him a little jealous, that perhaps he would say something that would give her a little glimmer of a chance. She hoped that he did not mean what he had said earlier, but that they still had time to work this out.

“Every time Seungri opens his mouth, the other members get nervous.”

“Jiyong hyung, do you like back hugs?”

                “Ne”

                “Gasp~”

“Oh oh that was funny!” one of the comedians cried out while holding up jam. This is not what she expected from Seungri. “When Seungri does a gag it is really exciting.” A shoe was held up. And with that Seungri went to high-five his fellow jokester.

“Gisu hyung said to me, ‘Seungri-ah, just one, just one time.’ He asked me to do a gag just once. In order to do this.”

“It was funny though.” It was. That was one of the things that attracted Dara to the younger, his sense of humor. She liked that she didn’t have to fake a smile, or fake a laugh. He genuinely made her laugh.

“Seungri, you have something to say right?”

“There was once, beneath his clothes, he was wearing a singlet. I will get up and demonstrate.” Dara watched as he stood and walked over to the center of the stage. Another thing she adored about him. He was never embarrassed of himself, he was confident in everything he did.

“He was in a singlet and was busy changing his clothes. Then he suddenly looks around and pulls his singlet down. He had taken off his pants and was just in his underwear. Singlets are like this right, on your shoulder.” He began to gesture to his shoulders and explain what it was G-Dragon had done. “He pulled this like this. After doing this he looks at us. ‘Guys’ and he suddenly does this.”

Seungri begins to prance around on stage, skipping and flailing his arms in every which direction. Just to imitate his leader. Dara laughed as she thought about how carefree the man before her was.

“He did all this all of a sudden.” Seungri explained.

                “For no reason, suddenly?”

                “For no reason” Seungri answered.

                “It’s a habit.”

                “It’s a habit?”Seungri asked.

“It’s a habit.” GD replied again.

“gasp~” with that he sat back down next to Dara.

As GD began to explain, Dara could only stare at Seungri, the younger never ceased to shock and amaze her. Very few people would be willing to embarrass themselves on television, especially idols. Most must be coerced into doing something embarrassing, where he did it without a second thought.

The group, specifically Se7en, had convinced GD to recreate the dance that he does.  In response, GD decided to reveal something about Seungri. She would have to pretend to be shocked. He would never hide anything from her.

“This could be unexpectedly boring since it’s related to Seungri. We went to New York to film our music videos. We had fun filming. We filmed till late at night. We stayed for 4-5 days, but had to film 2 music videos, so we were very tired. On the last day of filming Bad Boy, we moved to our hotel. None of us brought our computers. Seungri insisted on borrowing a computer from the manager nuna. He went to borrow it. After that we returned to Korea, we didn’t know about this but, that manager called me over for a while. This was a few days after returning to Korea.

‘Seungri, I’m not too sure what this is…’ She’s from the country side. ‘I’m not sure what this is but the list is strange.’ The download list. We looked at it. But, they were blonde “baseball videos.””

Dara stared at Seungri as he began to look up, playfully avoiding eye contact with everyone. It was normal for men to watch right? It’s natural? Just because he watched didn’t mean he had done anything wrong. No matter the amount of logic she had tried to use, she still felt betrayed. She began to cringe in shock. This time it was natural.

“So we were like, ‘What’s this?’ We were suspicious of the manager nuna. So I asked, ‘Nuna why are you watching such things?’ but after taking a look at the time stamp, it was the last day. The day Seungri borrowed the computer. The funny thing is we were overseas so the download is slow. It was all done half way. He downloaded that, and then that, and then that, and then that. The downloads were this much.” He made a gesture to indicate the amount of Seungri had watched.

“Because he was in a hurry.” Someone defended the flustered Seungri.

“In the end, I don’t think he even completed one download. We asked Seungri, but he kept saying it wasn’t him.”

“Seungri.” Lee Seung Gi had called upon the accused to defend himself.

“I’m a fan of Kia Tigers you know.”

“And you really downloaded baseball videos?”

“Yes, baseball videos. You should know. Baseball videos. Kia Tigers, Bang! Hoo!”  He went through the gestures of hitting a baseball.

“Seungri, do you watch it often?”

“No, not really.” He pretended to think about how easily he was trapped.

“Boom you have an x-file prepared?”

While the comedians began their routine, Dara thought of what had just happened. Seungri watched . That’s natural, but was it natural for him to look up with blondes? She could only assume that these were American women. Is that the kind of women he was into? Was she just someone he settled for because American women are harder to find in Korea?

The story of Se7en and Park Han Byul was being told, and she couldn’t help but point her fingers together. She thought their love story was adorable. As she looked over, Seungri was doing the same. Was he playing with her? Why was he being so cute and funny with her? He was the one that said he would let her go. To distract herself she began listening to Se7en’s story.

It was beautiful and heart wrenching. He had a love story where they fought and were able to overcome arguments and a scandal. She wanted that. She wanted the man next to her to do that. She wanted this scary situation they were in to turn into something great and beautiful. For him to hold her and say no matter what everything was going to be okay. Their love was stronger than everything that was in their way. They shouldn’t have to explain how they felt to the rest of the world. What they had was beautiful. She couldn’t help but clap when Se7en finished telling his story. It was so heartwarming, so much so that she didn’t realize she was scooting closer and closer to Seungri.

She felt warmer, safer as the space between the younger and herself began to disappear. She was completely oblivious to her surroundings. She completely missed the beautiful things that Daesung said about his sister, she missed the wondrous things Sean was saying about parenthood. All she wanted was for the younger to hold her and tell her that no matter what everything would be okay, that the world was a beautiful place that they could share.

“Dara is there anything you would like to say to the president?”

“I really think the president is swindling up.” She could turn the tables right? “Actually, our dating ban is 3 years and it ends on May 17th. Our president annulled the contract.”

                   “The contract?”

“Yeah, ‘Even if May 17t passes, you can’t.’ he said. So I don’t know what to do about it.”

                    “It was a promise.”

“A 29 year old should be able to date!”

                    “Sandara’s older than me.”

“Sandara, you have someone you like, right?” Lee Seung Gi asked.

                    “These day’s I don’t.”

“You have one right?” He continued his interrogation.

“I wish I had one, but my dating genes have died out.”

“You keep begging to let you date, so don’t you have someone you’d like to date?” with that the stage exploded with comments

“Is there someone you think, ‘Oh, he’s pretty okay these days?’”

“Someone you think is okay these days?”

She pretended to contemplate the question

“If we can help you we will” Lee Seung Gi offered.

“It’s okay to say it” the stages many members began to send her words of encouragement.

“Will you really do it for me?” It didn’t matter. Nothing within their capabilities could possibly fix this.

                     “We’ll do our best”

“I like Won Bin” She replied, attempting to steal a glance at the only person who knew the meaning behind the name.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think we can do it.”

“That would be a little too difficult.”

“Since he keeps tying them down, covertly, at night” CL paused for dramatic effect. “They could go out.”

“So they’ve gone out a few times?” The host asked.

“There were times I couldn’t find them.”

“We met each other.” Bom replied in defense.

“Yes. We went out to play with each other.” Dara continued. That said, the limelight was no longer on them and she continued her role as a guest.

She laughed through Tablo’s bathroom story, and Psy’s dancing. Gummy’s story caused her eyes to sting and water. As she listened to her sing along to her mother’s song, the tears spilled. Pain was all she felt at the moment and she was faking laughs and forcing smiles.

As the recording began to draw to an end, she plastered a smile on her face and stood to applaud both Se7en, and Lee Seung Gi. She smiled as Lee Seung Gi danced, shed a tear when the video in his honor was played, and posed for the picture. She did everything that was expected of her as an idol, all without breaking. She did better than she thought she could, but that irritated her.

As she and her bandmates thanked the filming crew, her thought began to take control of her. Why was it so easy to hide her true emotions? So easy to hide everything that made her, her? Why did she have to hide her true self? She no longer understood this part of the idol life. At one point in time, she was fine with it and accepted it, but now. Now, she just wanted to be herself with the one man who loved her for it. But she couldn’t. Could she ever? Would there ever be a time when-

“Unnie!” Minzy’s voice pulled her back to reality. “Get in. They’re going to drive us back to the dorm.”

Dara entered the vehicle and made eye contact with her leader. The younger stared at her in unspoken communication.

Once they got home they would all be having a conversation. One she was in no way prepared for. She didn’t want to tell Chae-rin, let alone the other two girls about her problems. However, Chae-rin would ask her to say it in front of the other two. That was one of the things she liked about her leader. No matter what was hidden from the managers, she wanted everyone to know as much as possible about the others, so that they could help and protect each other.

The car ride was silent, save the light snoring of one of the two people in the back seat. She attempted to organize her thoughts in order to better explain the situation when it was time.

The car finally stopped in front of their shared dorm. She and the other three stepped out of the vehicle and into the dorm. The door suddenly closed behind her and the three girls turned to look at her. Bom and Minzy were silent, seemingly unaware of the situation. Chae-rin, on the other hand, stared her down. The room was silent and the tension was nearly palpable.

“So, what happened back there?” The instant the younger asked, Dara’s mind went blank.

Hey guys! Hope you liked the chapter. Awkward place to end it huh? Well that's because I had a question to ask. So for those who don't know this is an old stroy I started 2 years ago. Well, this is where I stopped. There's a chapter after this but it leads to sode stories and twists. The notes that I have left explain the direction I wanted to take the story in, while still keeping to actual events. So here's the problem. I don't know if I can or if I even attempt to catch up to where Seungri and Dara are now, in 2014. I probably can but it would either be really rushed or a lot of chapters. Or should I write an ending here similiar to the one I had planned but leave out all the side stories in order to keep it short? Seeing as you guys are reading it an enjoying it (I can only hope so from the positive feedback I've been getting) I thought I should ask you guys what I should do.

As soon as I think I get the results to this question I'll get started on fixing the next chapter. In the meantime comment on what you liked or disliked about this chapter.
