“I love it noona! It’s a great song!”

          “Really what’s your favorite part?” Dara was currently on the phone with her younger brother, discussing the release of 2NE1’s single “I Love You”.

          “Every part you’re not in.” she heard the chuckling on the other side of the line.

          “Yah! Little mutt!” She was going to continue arguing with him when she heard a second voice.

          “Park Sang Hyun! I’m bored.”

          “What’s that got to do with me hyung?”

          “Who are you talking to?” Dara asked giggling to herself.

          “It’s just Lee Joon.”

          “Yah just Lee Joon! Who are you talking to?”

          “None of your business!”

          “Why you!” Dara laughed as she heard a struggle between the two. “Yah who is speaking to my dongsaeng?”

          Lee Joon had control of the phone and this made her laugh. Oh how she wanted to mess with them.

          “A very pretty girl.” Dara replied.

          “Yah! Park Sang Hyun, what are you doing talking to girls?” Dara stifled a laugh.

          “Hyung!”

          “Donsaeng, who are you talking to?” She burst from laughter at the comment.

          “Yah! Lee Jonn-ssi he was my dongsaeng first!” she couldn’t help but laugh at the silence. “If you take him I need one in exchange”

          Silence. She thought it was funny. Her humor must not have gotten through to the other line. She was sure Lee Joon would have found it at least a little comical. She suddenly felt very uneasy and a little self-conscious.  She must not be as cool as she thought she was.

          “Sorry Dara-ssi, I’ll hand the phone back to Sang Hyun now” she giggled a little at the fact that it sounded like he had just been scolded.

          “Noona want to hang out you, me, and Durami? She said she’s free.”

          “Really? Of course! What do you guys want to do?”

          “We’re going to eat and drink. Talk, nothing major”

          “When are you guys meeting?”

          “Sometime around seven. I’ll go pick the two of you up.”

          “Sounds fine. I’ll see you then.” With the new commitment in mind, Dara jumped off her bed and into her bathroom to freshen up. It was only three but for the first time in a long time that all three of them would be in a room. Even on holidays it was rare, she or brother would have a schedule or Durami would be busy with her studies. After working so hard promoting and practicing, she needed relaxation time with her siblings.

          She needed a distraction from her thoughts, thoughts that were constantly wondering back to Japan. She had discovered that Seungri went to promote in Japan. Of course, because why would he stay? Why would he stay, when she needed him? He never cared did he? Her thoughts went dark.

          “Unnie? Unnie?! UNNIE!” Dara went to answer the door, only to find her younger sister. Before she could say anything, the younger embraced in the tightest hug she had ever found herself in.

           “Durami! What are you doing here? Sang hyun said we were going to pick you up later.” She hugged her sister back, it felt good to see her. The two continued to squeal in happiness and tears began to sting at Dara’s eyes. They final broke the hug but held on to each other’s arms. “I’m glad to see you!”

          “I was so happy when he said you were going to be there so I just came over to see you.”

          “Oh my pretty baby!” she held on to her sister. “You’ve grown taller and prettier, and you’re smarter!”

          “Unnie! I’m the same height, I look the same and I’m just as smart as was before. You don’t have to lie” Durami laughed at her sisters statement as she was ushered to the sofa.

          “Not nice of you to surprise me when I’m not presentable.”

          “Unnie you always look beautiful, besides I would love to help you get ready. It’s just a get together between the three of us but I wouldn’t mind helping you pick out an outfit and with your make up.”

          Silence ensued as Dara allowed her sister to run a brush and fingers through her hair, her eyes closed as her sister hummed a tune. She wasn’t aware when her sister picked up a brush, when she had started curling her hair, or when she had started applying her make up but it had happened and it relaxed her to no end.

          Durami’s phone rang, indicating their ride was just outside.

 

 

 

          The view was beautiful. Blue lights glimmered across the night sky, the stars shined above the neon lights. It was absolutely stunning. Yet it did nothing to soothe the ache in Seungri’s heart.

           Japan had no effect on him, he still missed Dara.

           He had called home to tell his parents and sister that he was fine. But he wasn’t. He left to give her space; he left to get her off of his mind and out of his heart. He failed; he was only successful in realizing he loved her more than ever. He was madly in love with her, now more than ever.

 

 

 

          Sang Hyun had no idea where to take his older sisters. All he could provide was a mode of transportation and some good company. Dara was in no better shape. Instead, Durami was the one that recommended a place.

          They walked into the little barbeque restaurant and took their seats. They discussed what exactly they wanted to order, the waiter took their menu, and they were lost in their own world.

          “So how is the idol life treating the two of you?”

          “I’ve been bored lately. I missed hanging out with you two. All the hyungs and Cheol Yong have been busy. And you two are never free.” Sang Hyun pouted.

          “What about University? Any new friends? A boyfriend?” Dara wriggled her eyebrows suggestively at her sister.

          “No way! I’ve been studying, and all the guys I meet are either too studious or too lazy.” She took a sip of her water before continuing, “Besides, I’m more interested in knowing about you guys and your love lives.”

           Dara nearly choked on her water, Sang Hyun just stared at her. Before awkwardness could take hold of the table the waiter came back with all the meat they had ordered.

          “I’ll grill the meat” Sang Hyun placed the meat on the grill hoping his comment would have distracted the other girls from the question at hand.

          “While you’re at it invite your hyung to eat with us. He looks like a loner.” Durami said as she popped a bit of rice in .

          Sang Hyun and Dara looked over to see a man eating by himself, Lee Joon. He hadn’t recognized them.

          “What do you think noona? Should I invite him over?” Sang Hyun flipped some of the meat on the grill. Dara turned to him.

          “Remember when I said I wanted Cheondoong as a dongsaeng?” Sang Hyun nodded at her as he placed some meat on a piece of lettuce for Durami. “I lied, I’d much rather have Lee Joon as a dongsaeng. What about you Durami? I remember when we were little you wanted an oppa.” She laughed as she saw Sang Hyun scoff in mock offense.

          Durami chewed her lettuce wrap before responding. “I still do. I want an Oppa who can intimidate all the guys I don’t like.”

          “Yah I can intimidate any loser who comes near either one of you!”

          “I am often intimidated by guys with immaculate hair and eyeliner. Just go invite him over, no one should eat alone.” Durami took the tongs and placed some meat on Sang Hyun’s plate.

          “Yeah, yeah, yeah I’m going.” He laughed as he got up and headed towards Lee Joon’s table. Dara turned towards Durami.

          “Isn’t he your bias?”

          “It’s Seungho then Sang Hyun. Don’t tell him I said that.” The girls broke out in giggles as the two males approached them.

          “My dear sisters I present to you my even dearer hyung Lee Joon.”

           “Hi.” Lee Joon awkwardly smiled and waved, “Sang Hyun says you guys don’t mind if I join, are you sure? I don’t want to be a bother.”

          “You wouldn’t be a bother. Sit down, talk, enjoy our company we’re not that bad” Dara replied.

          “Besides,” Durami continued as Joon sat, “Perhaps it could be beneficial for all of us.”

          “Beneficial?”

          “Of course, I mean you might have some embarrassing stories about Sang Hyun and we have plenty. So of course it would be great to expand the amount of blackmail we can use on him.” Sang Hyun looked shocked while everyone else at the table laughed at his expense. She extended her arm and offered her hand. “Durami.”

          “Lee Joon, but you can call me Chang Sun” He took Durami’s hand and gently shook it.

          “Aww Joonie! It’s been so long. Have you all been treating my dongsaeng well? He hasn’t been getting in trouble has he? Or been talking to any pretty girls?” She laughed as Chang Sun face fell.

          “Yeah, I’m sorry about that Dara-ssi. I didn’t know who he was talking to.” He hung his head.

          “It’s fine Joonie. I had a laugh out of it. Besides I don’t want him talking to any pretty girls other than me and Durami anyway.”

 

 

          “Oh Bom-ssi what are you doing here?”

          “Ah Pabo, did you forget I work here too?” Bom giggled at the expense of TOP’s little comment. TOP and Daesung ran into the singer while working out at the YG gym. Of course she would be at the gym for the company that they all work at.

          “Noona, I saw your single’s music video. I really enjoyed it. I really liked the song.” Daesung huffed as he dabbed at his face with a towel trying to get all the sweat off of him.

          “Yeah, but hey you said Dara wrote a song. When are we going to hear that song?” TOP asked as he wiped the sweat from falling into his eyes. Bom looked at him, perplexed.

          “What are you talking about? ‘I Love You’ is the song Dara wrote.” TOP and Daesung stopped their hands and looked at her.

          “But I thought Teddy wrote that song.” Daesung continued to huff and catch his breath.

          “Oh Dara asked that he take credit because it wasn’t going to be acoustic and had English lyrics and stuff. She wanted it to be acoustic, Korean, slow, you know less poppy. So when Teddy recommended they change it a little she asked him to take the credit for it.”

           A thought occurred to both Dae and TOP.

          “Noona when did Dara write the song?” Dae and TOP waited in anticipation for the answer.

          “She wrote it after the break up.”

          “Bom-ssi do you think Dara might have written it about Seungri?” TOP couldn’t help but think there was hope for the couple.

          “Oh it is about him, Dara hasn’t said so but we all know it.”

          “But I thought she was dating someone. Chae-rin told Jiyong that she’s dating Lee Jong Suk.” Dae, finally catching his breath, was extremely confused.

           “No, Dara isn’t dating anyone.”

 

 

 

          Hours had passed. The group had been drinking, all minus Sang Hyun, who had decided to remain sober and drive everyone home.

          “I just want to meet a guy who is easy going but not lazy. Someone fun.” A half-drunk Durami slurred.

          “Noona you’ll find someone.” Sang Hyun tried to convince Durami that she will definitely fall in love with someone like. Instead she turned the table on him.

          “What about you dongsaeng, what type of girl are you into?”

           “Someone pretty, kind, smart, cute, someone who knows me and understands me.” He swirled his drink as he spoke.

           “That’s so sweet.” Lee Chang Sun wrapped an arm around Sang Hyun’s shoulders trying to comfort the younger.

           “Hyung!” Sang Hyun whined and effectively pried himself out of the elder’s grip. “Stop, what about you hyung?” he sighed and took a sip from his soju before continuing.

           “I’m not smart, so I want an intelligent girl. I want someone who understands my lifestyle and accepts it. Someone who gets my sense of humor and goes along with it would be nice. Someone adorable. I don’t know man just someone who appreciates me and makes me feel great when I’m with them.”

           “That sounds nice Joonie.”That’s what Dara wanted, someone who made her feel great. Seungri made her feel special, like a princess.

           “Thanks noona.” The siblings had come to accept Chang Sun as a part of the family. Though it was only a short amount of time they fully accepted the dorky addition.

           “Unnie, what about you?” Durami asked. Sang Hyun eyed her. She was drunk and he was scared about what she would say.

           “I want Lee Seung Hyun” Dara began to cry.

 

 

 

 

           “What do you mean she’s not dating anyone?”

           “She isn’t dating anyone! ‘I love you’ is about you.”

           “I thought Teddy wrote the song.” Seungri sat up in his bed. He had heard the song, had she really written the song about him? It was a beautiful song, one he had felt himself drawn and connected to. Now he understood why, it was his song. The love of his life was calling out to him. And all he did was run.

            “No SHE wrote the song. She misses you. Bom says she cried when you left.” He had made her cry again. Why couldn’t he do anything right?

           “How do you know all this?”

           “Bom told me and TOP” So that was it, he ed up. He looked out to see his room. It was empty, everything was empty. He wanted this empty room, this empty feeling gone. He hated it all.

           “Dae, I’m going back to Korea.”
