Yixing rushes towards me and my foot. I carry him on my arms and comb his fur. I smell a hint of vodka in his mouth.

“MINSEOK!”

She opens her door while rubbing her eyes.

“What?”

“Why did you let Yixing drink vodka?”

I’m seriously worried to my baby. He shouldn’t be drinking vodka.

“It’s just a dog, Lu. Let it pass”

“He’s not just a dog. Umma gave this to me.”

“He’s a shih tzu. Beautiful dog, I know. But don’t overreact”

She heads to the refrigerator and pours water for herself.

“What’s the problem, Min?”

She puts the glass down with a loud thud.

“I’ll warn you again, Lu Han. Sehun is mine, understand?”

“But I’m not—“

“Oh sure. You just had picnic on the park with him and you didn’t tell me. Do you want him to be all yours?!”

“C’mon, Min. I forgot that because it isn’t important”

“Yes it is! It’s important! It’s an information! The progress!”

“The progress . You’re obsessed”

“I know I am. But remember I am PAYING you to do this for me. So don’t ever judge me because you don’t know anything”

She runs to her room with a hurt look on her face.

What’s worse is it’s my day off so I won’t have a chance to get away from her.

Aha! I know how!

I quickly dial umma’s number. I’m sure she missed me a lot.

“Luhannie DEER~”

“Uh… Umma, hello. Could we meet?”

“Of course. I missed you so much. I’d love to. Where should we meet?”

“Raindrop Café. Fine with you?”

“Sure, deer. Give me 30 minutes.”

“Ok…umma. See you”

And our conversation ends.

A great trick to escape from a problem is talking to umma. She supports me in everything.

“DEER, I missed you.” Umma hugs me and kisses my cheek

“Why do you need to emphasize that deer? By the way, I missed you more, umma”

The waitress stands close to me to get our orders.

I quickly said mine and umma follows.

“So…is this a sort of bonding or we have something to talk about?”

“Both, umma. Actually, I have a problem that I want to talk about. It’s a long story, umma. Is it ok?”

“Go ahead.”

“Minseok’s back—“

Umma’s surprised. Of course she knows Minseok. They are so close because she’s like a sister to me since I don’t have siblings.

“But that’s not the problem”

Umma calms down.

The orders come in front of us.

“She gave me a new job ‘coz unfortunately, I got fired. Then she pays me, and in exchange, I’ll spy over my boss. This boss is her ex. She’s obsessed with this guy so she orders me to do this and do that until we got close. Not too close. Just the kind that he asked me out for lunch twice already. And Minseok’s jealous.” I breathe deeply before continuing.

“She’s mad at me”

“That’s a bad news. A very bad one. But… is there something to be jealous about?”

“I-I don’t know”

“One question… do you like him?”

I sigh. How can I like him if I used to hate him? But…

“I think so,” I answer, almost whispering.

“Do you think this guy is worth the fight?”

“Umma, I can’t think clearly”

“Dear, you should. Before things get worse. You need to choose. The guy you met because of Minseok or Minseok herself.”

I chew the insides of my cheeks. Umma’s right. I need to choose. It’s either to erase my feelings for BIBS or forget my friendship with Minseok.

“Lu Han, tell Minseok that I’m happy that she’s back and I wanna see her”

“Umma!” I whine.

“Kidding.”

“Now DEER, finish your food,” she adds.

“Neh”

I look down at my food.

I just ate a bit.
