Triggering Feelings

The Secret Admirer

Krystal tried to pry open the door but couldn’t. Luhan was holding the handle.

Krystal stopped moving for a mere minute. Trying to open it again, she felt no resistance. Opening the doors, she darted out of the bathroom and found Luhan with a huge grin, standing with a key in his hands. Before the girl could reach him, Luhan quickly locked the doors.

“Hey!”

Catching him, who was running victoriously with a shining key in his hand, Krystal was left out of breath.

“My revenge,” he repeated.

“You better not be serious about this. Unlock the doors,” the frustrated girl demanded.

“Nope,” he stuck out his tongue at her. With a safe distance from her, Luhan clapped his hands. Lights went out.

“What the hell?” Krystal hissed, trying to understand what happened.

“New lightning program. Guess never mentioned about it before,” she heard his voice somewhere near her.

Quickly turning around, she also clapped her hands and the lights were lighted up again. Smiling to Luhan, she crossed her arms. “I’m smarter than that. Now give me the key.”

Luhan chuckled. “You’ll have to find it first,” he retorted and sat down on the sofa.

“You managed to hide it in such a short time?”

“Hiding is not entirely right in this situation,” he smirked. Since Krystal gave him a puzzled look, he slowly pointed to his pants, making her hiss in disgust.

“No you didn’t…”

Luhan, still sitting on the couch, enthusiastically nodded.

“It’s in your underwear?”

“Wanna check it out?”

Without another word, the girl walked to the bedroom and took one of the pillows from Luhan’s bed. Before she could return to the living room, Luhan came after her.

“What’s with the pillow?”

Giggling evilly, Krystal attacked the boy. She hit him as much as she could, not giving him a chance to fight back.

“You’re playing dirty.”

“Well, aren’t you too?”

“Yep, you’re right,” he chuckled holing a pillow in his hands, which he took when the fight stopped.

Now the boy was the one to initiate the battle. A big fight took place in the bedroom and lasted for quite a long time, with both of them laughing like crazy, until Luhan decided to end it once and for all.

Quickly grabbing Krystal into an embrace, the light haired boy took her in his arms, held her in a bridal style. She still couldn’t stop giggling, even when he tossed her on the bed and sat beside her lying body.

“Want me to look for something for you to wear?”

“Am I seriously going to stay here tonight?”

“I was serious, after all. So?”

Signing, she nodded her head. Luhan rubbed her hair and walked over to his closet. Eyeing all his shirts, he tossed one to the girl on his bed.

“You don’t have anything… longer?” she looked at the quite short blouse with buttons on it a bit suspiciously. “Have any pants to share at least?”

“Let me take a look.” Rummaging through his wardrobe, Luhan found one pair of shorts from one girl that had left it some time ago. Since he changed girls like socks, he didn’t have a change to give it back. He threw it to Krystal. “Don’t ask.”

“Got it.”

After changing in her new pajamas, the girl returned to the bedroom, only to face Luhan with only his boxers, still not done changing.

“This party is lame,” Kai whined to his drinking buddy, Lay. They just recently started hanging out, after Lay started questioning about Krystal. Kai tried to assure him that she won’t show up in any party anymore, only to get rid of any further competition. Lay had a good eye for beauties, and Krystal caught his attention.

“Cheer up. Many women are gawking at you right now.”

“Not interested.”

“How come?” Lay smiled and ordered another drink.

“What if I got myself out of this mess?”

Kai didn’t expect his new friend to understand what he meant, but surprisingly Lay did. “You couldn’t. It’s too fun right now. Unless you have someone to do it for. Do you?”

“Nah, man.” Kai took another shot of tequila.

“Then there’s no way you’re leaving us any time soon,” Lay smirked.

Kai let out a deep breath. “To tell the truth, I don’t even know.”

“So you have someone,” the older guy accused.

“Dunno. Don’t know. Aish.” Kai didn’t stop complaining. “There’s this girl…” he started, “I kissed her recently like the bastard I am, and now I catch myself thinking how she felt about it.”

“You’re on her leash, Kai. Having heard a lot about your reputation, it should be other way around.”

“You’re not the one to say this, Lay, you’re worse than me.”

“Say whatever you want, it doesn’t help your situation. So do I know the unlucky girl?”

“No.”

Lay chuckled. “It means yes. Don’t worry, I’m not interested in getting rid of this. I like playboy life.”

Kai took the whole bottle of whiskey that was on the table (since tequila was drunk by him already) and gulped it in one go. Lay shook his head disapprovingly and walked away.

Throwing the bottle somewhere, he regarded his surroundings for a while and taking out his phone, dialed taxi’s number.

Krystal immediately panicked and closed the doors. Leaning her back on the solid wall, she blew out a raspberry.

“What took you so long to dress up?!” she shouted across the apartment.

“Learn to knock or something!” Luhan stood his ground.

Krystal stormed inside. The boy was stumbling upon getting his pants on. “I knew it!” she pointed at his underwear. “Liar!”

Luhan face-planted on the ground because of her running inside out the bedroom. When she ran away again, he dropped the pants and ran after her, interested in what she’s going to do next.

To his amusement, Krystal frantically interrogated whole living room, clearly looking for something.

“Told you the key is-“

“Won’t fool me this time, at least,” she grinned like a crazy person. He stifled a laugh.

Opening all the drawers, she was making a huge fuss. Luhan, still amused, eyed as his shirt’s sides were cropped on the girl’s body, clearly too big for her. Her bare legs were long and skinny, and he couldn’t help but wonder if she’s feeling cold. Luhan totally forgot about his own state here, standing with his arms crossed, huge grin on his handsome face and grey boxes. That’s all he had on.

The boy stiffened when the girl got on her knees and lowered her head, to see under the couch. “Aha! Found it!” she held out the shining key.

Without further ado, Krystal ran across his apartment, towards the front doors. Luhan managed to grab her wrist.

“That was not the deal.”

“There was no deal, dummy,” she grimaced. Facing him, the girl leaned her back onto the cold doors and with key in her hands, tried to unlock it, without the boy noticing.

“ I miss-“

Click.

And so Krystal ran out the apartment, with Luhan chasing after her, both amused by the chase. It was a third game this night, already. They were fooling around like little kids. Krystal missed this by a lot.

Running, what felt like rolling down the stairs, Krystal reached her apartment first. “! I forgot to lock the doors,” she loudly cursed. Running inside, she saw someone standing inside, the person’s back turned to her. “A thief!”

Luhan ran inside right after her, turning the lights right afterwards.

“Kai?” Krystal quietly asked, stunned.

The young man turned around, as if only now noticing some disturbance in his silent state. Taking in the two’s clothes, Kai clicked his tongue and sloppily made his way towards them.

Luhan verily observed the so-called Kai’s cocky grin, when out of nowhere the platinum blonde guy landed a punch on his stomach. Krystal shrieked in horror. Luhan gripped on his bare torso and swirled out to the hall way. Krystal was about to help him up, but Kai stopped her. Holding her by the shoulders, he death-glared at her. The girl gulped in fear; he was acting more randomly than ever and she didn’t know what to expect from him.

“You slept with him?”

She was so stricken by Kai’s question that she didn’t manage to utter even a single word.

“Hey dude-“ Luhan was getting up, but Kai kicked him down. Luhan could take him on, but he chose not to make a big fight, since, most likely the whole apartment’s unit heard Krystal’s panicked scream.

Luhan slowly stood up and held his hands up, glaring at Kai.

“What’s your problem? Stop it,” Krystal placed her shaking hands on Kai’s jacket.

Again, unexpectedly, Kai took the girl inside and smashed the doors shut right before Luhan’s nose. Positioning himself to barricade the doors, he hugged Krystal. She smelled a strong smell coming from him.

“Are you drunk?” she smashed his chest. He didn’t respond.

From the other side of the door, Luhan had lost his temper. Bumping on it loudly, he shout to let him in, but since his wish wasn’t fulfilled, he tried to pry it open himself. No luck.

“I can undo his touch.” Kai silently muttered before crashing his face into Krystal’s.

With open, scarred eyes, Krystal beat his chest over and over again, until he grabbed hold of her delicate hands. She didn’t know what to do. Only one choice was left. Trying to remember as much as possible from all the movies she has seen, she punched his leg with her knee and backed away. Kai stepped closer to her and Luhan almost fell inside.

Oh, how much would Jinri have enjoyed seeing this scene. It reminded usual chick-flick movie a lot. And now, Taemin was surely out of sight.

Chanyeol had a sleepless night time. He couldn’t keep his eyes closed for even five minutes. His curiosity has been killing him for days.

The bartender has obtained a letter dedicated to his boss’ female friend, Krystal, and was sent from her secret admirer. He never thought about reading the contents of any of the letter. But this time, after his little chat with Luhan, he wondered whether his friend could be the one behind those yellow envelopes.

Luhan didn’t question as much, as Chanyeol would have in same situation. Luhan even seemed nonchalant about it. Like he knew about it already.

“That’s it. I can’t take it anymore,” he winced as his bare foots touched could ground. Getting out of bed, he walked to his work desk and took the yellow letter from the pile of papers. With lights , he sat comfortably on the bed and carefully opened the envelope.

“I’ll just glue that on tomorrow.”

Dear Krystal,

I know I might have come off rudely in my last letter, but it’s the truth.

You got hurt a lot in the past. I don’t believe anyone deserves that.

About that older boy. By the description you gave him, I think I know what kind of guy he is. He might have led you to false hopes of romance, but snap out of it. It might have been unintentional; he might have been just too friendly. However, I’m not so sure about the other boy. Are you sure he’s playing around?

However,…

“Woah. So Krystal has something thrilling going on in her life. Better glue it right away.”

He has been keeping the envelope in his job for a few days now, but the girl didn’t show up. Maybe he’ll see her tomorrow.

The most important question irked him so much. “Who’s the writer?”

*

“He cannot go home alone, he refuses,” Krystal quietly hissed in Luhan’s ear. Kai was in the bathroom, and the two were currently discussing what to do with him.

“If you want him to stay, fine!” Luhan whispered, more like quietly shouted. “But I won’t leave you with him alone. He’s too drunk!”

“And that’s why I wanted to ask you for a favor,” she looked up at him, a blanket tied up on his waist. “Can he sleep at your place? I’m too uncomfortable with him right now.”

“What if he starts his hysterics again? I won’t hold down a second time.”

“Just look at him,” she pointed at Kai who was swaying his way out of the bathroom. “He’s going to pass out soon.”

Luhan looked at the younger boy with a slight pout. He wanted for the girl to keep him company this night, not this drunkard acquaintance of her.

With Krystal and Luhan’s help, Kai slowly walked upstairs and was lied down on the sofa. When Krystal left, Kai was already asleep.

Furious, Luhan walked to his mini bar. “Might as well get a drink or two.”

*

Naturally, the first one to wake up was Luhan. He wasn’t as hangover as he guessed he would be, but his head stung a little. Last night (or more like this early morning) Luhan stopped counting glasses, that soon became bottles of strong drinks. Not that he wasn’t a bit used to it, by now. Thinking about Kai’s possible migraine, he couldn’t help but chuckle. He didn’t want to even imagine how his house intruder will feel when Luhan will ‘gently shake him to wake up’.

It was around 9am, still early, but the older boy had a café to go to. Of course, as a boss, he could come earlier, but he didn’t have anything better to do, even on weekends, so it almost became his habit to work there full-time.

After a quick shower, Luhan quietly made his way to the unconscious boy, who was lying on his sofa. Grinning goofily from ear to ear, he paused for a second before splashing a cup full of ice-cold water onto Kai’s not-expecting face.

The poor boy’s body immediately shot straight up. Kai’s mouth was gasping for air; he probably thought he was drowning. When he understood what happened, he exploded.

“Yah!  Are you stupid? Do you know who you are messing with?”

“No. Who are you?”

Kai grinded his teeth and stayed quiet. He was in an unfamiliar place and barely could remember anything from last night, from when he left the party. How the hell did he come here, why wasn’t he at home instead?

“It’s my question. Who are you?”

Luhan smirked. “I’m Krystal’s neighbor. I suppose you don’t recall what happened at her place.”

“What did I do?” Kai panicked before realizing how un-cool it was of him.

“Lots of things. You punch quite well, I must say.”

The intruder chuckled. “So you met my fist already. I don’t feel hurt anywhere, though. Did we fight?”

“Not really. I was patient enough. Only because Krystal was watching, of course. If not for her, you probably would feel much worse than this hangover.”

Kai shook his head. “I’m feeling fine. No chance of hangover.”

Luhan crossed his arms. “Anyway. How do you know Krystal?”

“We’re the same year at the university. Both attend dance lessons,” the unwelcomed guest thought he should answer properly, since, he intruded Luhan’s place.

“And how exactly did you start liking her?” Luhan carefully studied Kai’s dumbfounded expression before grinning widely.

“I never said I like her,” Kai disagreed. “This place was the nearest place to go.”

“Mhm.”

“You don’t believe me,” Kai signed. “Hey, you sound like a jealous boyfriend.”

“More of a concerned friend,” Luhan chuckled.

“She has lots of them,” the younger one murmured, keeping in mind yesterday’s little chat with Jinri. “So what did I exactly do last night?”

“Aside from beating me when you saw us, well, half- and shutting the two of you alone in her apartment, something more happened between you inside. She didn’t tell me anything about it. You should ask her on your way back home.” Luhan tiptoed to the counter on his bare foot and filled a glass with water. “And when will you leave?” He not-so-subtly asked.

Kai scratched his head. Grunting his teeth, he got up, grabbed his closes that were lying on the ground and dressed up. Without saying anything, he walked to the bathroom, cleansed his face and passed Luhan on his way out. “Right now. Thanks.”

Luhan held up his glass. “No problem. “

*

Krystal was sound asleep when someone rang the doors. Grunting loudly, she slowly made her way to the buzzing sound and grumpily let Kai come in. Wiping her barely open eyes, she motioned to follow her and went inside her bedroom. The boy, tired just as much as her, as soon as he saw her undone bed, face-planted into pillows. Krystal signed and lied on the bed.

“Feeling better?”

However, Kai didn’t respond. He wasn’t sure why she was so hostile to him now, maybe she was still asleep?

“Guess not. So Lu threw you out?”

“…”

“Hey!” she flicked his head; in response he his back and glared at her.

“You could say that. What did I do yesterday?”

Krystal sat up and embraced her knees. “Besides punching my friend, you forced your face onto mine. Again.” Glancing at him, she added, “.”

Even though Kai was really sleepy and tired, he couldn’t control his cocky self. “You must be a horrible kisser if I can’t remember it.”

The girl furrowed her eyebrows in angry manner. “Why did you come here, of all places?”

“I was drunk. This place was near. That’s it. No funny ideas, please.”

“But why that behavior then? I can swear you looked jealous.”

“Yeah, that boy is too good-looking,” he joked and sat up. Krystal extended her hand to smack his head, but the boy caught her hand mid-way. Releasing his grip, he stood up from the bed.

“Just forget about yesterday,” he ruffled her hair; she didn’t fight. “And get ready for our upcoming lessons. You will see me at every possible moment, from now on.” Smirking, he walked out of the bedroom and Krystal heard her front doors opening and closing a minute after.

“He stayed here for only five minutes, that bastard,” Krystal muttered to herself. “And to think I was about to make breakfast for him…”
